Ever wanted to try your hand at throwing clay on a potter's wheel but weren't sure if it's right for you? This two-hour Birmingham pottery class is the ideal introduction to this fun, meditative craft!

You'll get to grips with the basics of wheel throwing, from essential theory and practical considerations to the best way to prepare your clay to ensure a smooth end result. Following a detailed demonstration, it'll be your turn to strap on that apron, take to the wheel and start throwing your first pot!

Don't worry about any messy mishaps as your teacher will be on hand throughout the session to guide you towards your first amazing clay creation. At the end of the session, you will pick your best piece to be fired, glazed and ready to collect in 8 weeks' time. (The firing of 1 piece per person is included in the price while additional pots can be fired at a charge of £10 each)

Note that the class is taught in a group of 6 people unless it is a private session.

All necessary tools and materials. The glazing and firing of 1 pot of your choice, which will be ready for collection in about 8 weeks' time.
 
What to bring
Wheel throwing is messy business, make sure to trim your nails and tie long hair back as they can get in the way of your creative expression.

The studio is on the second floor of Anvic house on the junction of Vyse Street and Spencer Street opposite the Jewellery Quarter train station. The entrance is at No 84 Vyse Street next to the 'Waffle Lounge' and 'The Wedding Dress Shop'
