This two-hour Birmingham pottery class is the ideal introduction to this fun, meditative craft!You'll get to grips with the basics of wheel throwing, from essential theory and practical considerations to the best way to prepare your clay to ensure a smooth end result. Following a detailed demonstration, it'll be your turn to strap on that apron, take to the wheel and start throwing your first pot!Don't worry about any messy mishaps as your teacher will be on hand throughout the session to guide you towards your first amazing clay creation. At the end of the session, you will pick your best piece to be fired, glazed and ready to collect in 8 weeks' time. (The firing of 1 piece per person is included in the price while additional pots can be fired at a charge of £10 each)Whether you're treating yourself to a new crafty Birmingham activity, want a fun date-night activity or you're looking for a gift for the creative soul in your life, this class is sure to tick all your boxes.Note that the class is taught in a group of 6 people unless it is a private session.

I am a ceramicist and teacher, currently based in Birmingham. Craft is my means of navigating the world, a way of life, a source of meaning. My practice focuses on marrying aesthetically pleasing forms with clearly defined functionality.Through my pottery workshops and taster sessions, I look forward to sharing my passion for clay with you — nothing beats a bit of messy making to help the creativity flow! Hosted in my airy studio space in the historic Jewellery Quarter, you'll discover what makes working with clay such a meditative and meaningful experience.
