Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I brought my daughter age 9 to learn how to use her sewing machine.
Eve was her teacher she was very friendly and full of knowledge. She was very patient and nothing was too much of an ask.
My lo is very happy and currently setting her sewing machine up to complete the top she started at the class.

My daughter and her 3 other friends really loved it It was a birthday treat for her and its so worth it. She now love crochet and is confident enough to start making a blanket out of the yarns included (need to buy more though).

This class was enjoyable and the kids had a great time and loved taking their creations home. They even did a separate painting on card each. The teacher was friendly and had a good style with the kids. I think an example picture would help the kids understand what we were trying to do and perhaps the card stamps were a step too far and reusable ones would have been better.

The work shop was Very informative. Learnt how to thread a sewing machine, the different features of the machine, how to make a button hole, sew a seam and how fast the foot pedal can go. The teacher was very friendly and personable. I now have the basic knowledge of how to practice using my machine and help build up on my skills to make a dress from one of Hobbycrafts patterns. Very enjoyable and useful class

Kids enjoyed it so that’s what counts. Feeding beads onto a pipe cleaner then adding a bell and some ribbon plus colouring a ceramic bauble. Did not turn out anywhere near as good as the pictures and one girl dropped her bauble and it smashed. Could have done with some finished objects or pictures to give the kids an idea of what they can do.

Carol was fantastic, so knowledgeable. Equipment was appropriate although the spooled wire was tricky to use.
Session was on 1 hour long, we still weren't finished after 90 mins. Due to family commitments I had to finish it at home. Would benefit from being 2 hours.

I attended the Christmas Star wreath workshop which was a good class, and something different from a glue gun wreath.
The materials needed quite a bit of prep (stripping down to wire) before starting which took a considerable time before we could get into it. The instructor thought the class was 90 mins but it was billed as an hour meaning that as participants we had allowed an hour and the class was not able to be completed within this time. I've left with an unfinished product and there wasn't time to be given instructions on how to fully finish it.
My recommendation for future would be a longer class (the instructor felt 2 hours would be good) and/or perhaps some of the prep done with the dried foliage in advance.
Still a great fun activity and will be a lovely addition to decorations once I've had a chance to finish it.

Class was great. Air drying clay was not the easiest to work with for kids. It dried quick (hence it being a 30 minute class) and sticking parts together was not very great. Trying to attach 8 legs to the spider was not an easy feat at all. We were given a bag to carry our spiders and ghosts home in but they would have survived better in a box. The young lady was very clear and knowledgeable on the whole make thou. Was a nice, fun learning experience.

The ladies running the class were very nice but could have offered to help the children a little more as there is very limited time and they could not get very much made in the half hour class.
For the clay modelling, some tools would be good to help the children sculpt better. Perhaps having the class set out and ready to start for the children arriving would mean they get more time. We have been to several classes and they are an excellent idea with a little more thought.

I was quite nervous to start, beginning a new craft, i.e., crocheting. My local store in Livingston is very accessible with great parking. 5he store is bright and well equipped for most craft projects, and supplies are easy to find. Eve was very patient and encouraging. I would highly recommend a workshop or as I had a 121 tutorial. It was worth the reasonable cost. The photo is a practice piece ( Double and treble crochet) I know with practice I will get better at tension consistency. But out of little acorns grow big trees lol

Beginners crochet workshop with Eve was fantastic and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking to try crochet.

Kit given contained a printed step by step guide of what we were covering (Eve also wrote handy hints and tips on the back), 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook.

We started at the very beginning and went at a really good pace. We covered how to make a slip knot, chain stitch, double crochet and treble crochet.

I could tell that Eve really enjoyed showing how to crochet and was happy to answer all questions that I had.

I certainly left feeling confident in my ability to try some beginner crochet projects

My 2 girls (and I) LOVED the clay workshop! Our teacher Sarah was friendly, helpful and really knowledgeable. Nothing was too much, she was running up and down the stairs getting different colours for the girls to use as they kept changing their minds! The materials used were great too. Great workshop which my 8yr old son thoroughly enjoyed. Being the only child in attendance was an added bonus as we had a lovely chat with Sarah while we made our creatures. Sarah was lovely. She was helpful and quickly realised my son's strengths and built on these while also identifying the areas he needed help with and supporting him appropriately. The teacher was very nice and friendly. The table for our clay making was plenty big enough for the four people doing the class. The air drying clay was super soft and stretchy but dried very quickly.
There was plenty of clay to make several Easter things and plenty of time to enjoy making things. Very good value for money.

I booked the class to do with my granddaughter who was turning 9. We gathered upstairs at a big table which was enough room for the 4 people taking part. We were made very welcome by Carol our instructor and provided with a box containing our wreath base, artificial flowers and small eggs, greenery, a strip of hessian fabric and a glue gun and glue sticks which we could keep. I feel this was very good value for money.
Carol provided simple instructions as we went along and three of us found it relatively easy as we had made some wreaths before.
My granddaughter is quite crafty and marched ahead doing her own thing with a lovely result. She had used a glue gun before so I felt I could relax and let her get on with it.
There was no pressure of time so we could have taken longer than the hour had we needed it.
Carol and the other ladies taking part were very easy going and friendly so it was a lovely way to spent an hour with my granddaughter in the Easter holidays.

My daughter Ruby had a 1-2-1 session with Gill at Livingston last night. Gill was great, just like the last session, she helped Ruby with engraving and debossing on the Cricut and she showed her how to use infusable ink on a coaster. All ruby’s questions were answered brilliantly with fantastic demonstrations aswell. She is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. The session overall was superb, thank you Gill:)

Eve was lovely. She put me at ease right from the start and was very informative.
I haven't used a machine for about 50yrs so it was like starting from scratch. She showed me how to thread the machine and how to follow a pattern. I know it will take a bit of time to feel comfortable making my own clothes but Eve has put me on the right track. I would highly recommend the one to one session.

We arrived five mins before the start time but the class was underway. Leader had not known how many children were booked and supplies were limited. My five year old granddaughter needed my help to make her card whereas previous workshops the leader gave active help to each child.

Gill was absolutely fantastic, she helped Ruby on how to use the iron on vinyl and transfer tape, she did an example of each with her. She answered all her questions thoroughly and showed her around the design space app. The store was easily accessible and very clean and tidy. Bought as a gift for my mum and daughter, they thoroughly enjoyed it. The lady who took the class was brilliant she was so patient with my mum who struggles to understand things and retain information. They got to take the materials home which meant it was great value for money. Was only 3 in the class so was great, will definitely look at more classes for my mum.

Cannot recommend classes at Hobbycraft highly enough! Teacher was amazing and the relaxed atmosphere was great, such a fun afternoon. The kit is a great starting point for marbling and has everything you need. Teacher had some additional colours which were great to try out so purchased some after the class. Baubles look amazing, so colourful and such an easy craft to pick up!

I loved the sewing workshop with Pauline. She gave great advice about which sewing machine would be best for a beginner. After the session I purchased the recommended sewing machine and after having a play around myself I’m really glad I went for this machine. Pauline taught me how to wind the bobbin, use straight and zig zag stitches, how to sew round corners and curves. On top of learning the sewing techniques, it was also good fun. I’m looking forward to trying out new things with my sewing machine!

For only £5 I had the most brilliant time. Eve showed me how to use a sewing machine, including how to put cotton onto a bobbin and how to thread the machine. I was then able to have a go myself under her expert eye. I asked so many questions and she was so patient with me, answering them all and, in some cases demonstrating. At the end of the lesson I felt confident to try by myself at home, and was given a practice sheet of material to attempt different stitches and techniques. The hour went so fast - I would have loved it to go on even longer as I was enjoying myself so much.

Eve was my tutor, she was very friendly and patient. I was taught how to make a chain then double crochet and treble crochet. A crochet hook and two balls of wool along with printed easy to follow instructions were supplied to bring home. Eve explained how with these two stitches a variety of patterns can be used to make a lot of items. The venue was upstairs in the Hobbycraft shop where we were not disturbed by customers. I gained confidence to carry on with crochet thanks to Eve's praise and encouragement.

Victoria was very welcoming and offered advice to the kids on mixing colours together however I did feel the choices of canvases offered for various ages was particularly limited given they had so many reduced instore. Also white paint to mix not offered.
Good value and happy kids though.

Teacher was great with the children, very helpful when they needed abit of support or a suggestion of ideas. Lots of materials on offer for the children to use. My girls left very happy with their Easter bonnets.

Excellent workshop. Went through the basics setting up, threading needle, winding bobbins. Covered a range issues I was having and discussed possible solutions - different threads, needles, fabrics, tension, stitch size etc. Discussed basic maintenance, cleaning etc.
Lots of helpful suggestions and advice. Area used was bright, open and quiet. Brilliant.

The teacher was great - listened to what I wanted to learn and was really helpful.
Venue was good and feel the class was very reasonable n terms of cost. I will definitely book more classes.

Enjoyed it. I used class as refresher,as not touched machine in over 20 years. I got to thread bobbin and machine and got to try some practice stiches,backstitches,square and circle. Worth it if you are not sure or lack confidence to start using your machine. I even got advice on what stitches to use on projects I was thinking of trying and trips on how to notice when things aren't going to plan and how to fix

Thoroughly enjoyed the beginners crochet class with Pauline at Hobbycraft, in Livingston today. Pauline is a great trainer, very very patient and clearly has a passion for crocheting. A relaxing, fun and enjoyable way to learn a new hobby. Will probably sign up for more classes as the choice is fabulous, just hope all the trainers are as good as Pauline.

Eve was fabulous! Such a lovely, friendly and patient teacher. I enjoyed making my crackers so much and cannot wait to make even more Christmas craft projects with my hot glue gun and new found inspiration from Eve! I enjoyed the morning workshop with Eve. She was very friendly and enthusiastic, explaining clearly how to get the best from our materials. I had wanted to make a traditional wreath but could only get a place on the workshop for the frosted wreath. I was disappointed with the materials as there was a lot of plastic involved which does not look natural. To add to my disappointment, another lady had the traditional kit this morning and her finished wreath was exactly what I would like to have made. As I now have a glue gun I shall do some tweaking at home to see how I can improve my wreath.

Did this class with two relatives and a friend (I bought tickets for their Christmas present), everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was a great Christmas gift.
Quality of products was excellent, quantity was generous.
Eve our instructor was lovely, informative and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Have done a few classes at Livingston and can highly recommend the staff here.

Gill was very patient, I am fairly new to the Cricut machine did know some of the functions but found out lots of other functions and all the projects that are available. I thought it was excellent value for money and would highly recommend it. I came away with a fabulous Christmas idea for my Secret Santa, which I would never have thought of - thanks Gill.

Yesterday I met a lovely lady called Jill who taught me so much about my new circuit machine. I was a complete novice - had not even turned on my machine! Jill was extremely informative and very patient with me, answered all my questions and added several tips of her own. She showed me how to make many different things including a lovely Dalmatian dog - which I took home to a delighted granddaughter. By the end of the lesson my notes were plentiful and I would thoroughly recommend a lesson by Jill to everyone. A big thank you.

Great one on one class with Gill at Livingston Hobbycraft. She was very good at making sure I could see everything she clicked on with her PC . Went over it all again so I could make notes. Gave me the vinyl cut out away with me. We opened a few other projects and discussed how to change them etc. Very informative and Gill is a good instructor. Will certainly be booking another session
