Drop-In Natural Ink Workshop at Open Studios Edinburgh

Join me for a drop-in session as part of our Open Studios Day at WASPS Riverside House, working with homemade art materials made from locally sourced organic materials, including garden plants, ethically foraged wild plants, and food waste.The goal of my studio and my practice is to have as little impact on the environment as possible, which includes eliminating toxins and chemical run-off when I wash my brushes. The labels on store-bought paints produced en masse never provide us with information about how something was made, the origin of raw materials, who produced it and under which conditions, what it contains, and what impact it had on our environment during the manufacturing process! I constantly found myself questioning the ethics behind my materials, which is why I started making my own and really hung onto the connection I was making to my surroundings in the process.Look out for me on Level 6, Studio 608! :)OPEN STUDIOS:Step inside the creative heart of our studio block for Open Studios Day, a celebration of artistic diversity, process, and community. Visitors are invited to wander through the studios, engage directly with artists, and experience the atmosphere where ideas take shape — from first sketches to finished works.This event offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the creative process. Each studio tells its own story: canvases in progress, walls marked by experimentation, and tables scattered with materials that reveal the rhythm of making. Together, these spaces form a vibrant ecosystem of collaboration and independent vision — a living, breathing gallery that evolves daily.Open Studios Day is both an invitation and an exchange. For visitors, it offers the chance to connect directly with artists, to see artworks beyond the white walls of a gallery, and to understand the journeys that shape each piece.
