Charlie Whinney Studio was set up by the artist in 2012. We pioneer new ways to work with steam bending to create beautiful low- carbon wood products to compete and take the place of other less eco-friendly materials where possible.Charlie Whinney has created large-scale steam-bent art installations all over the world, as well as designing and making award-winning furniture and lighting. WHAT IS STEAM BENDING?Steam Bending is a term used to describe heating wood until it is pliable and may be bent into new shapes. The workshop runs a year-round programme of woodwork courses from the forest-based studio in Cumbria including Beginners, 3 Day Pro and Makers Sessions & gift vouchers. We also offer gift vouchers for our online live Lamp making workshops.
