[A] Chinese calligraphy

In this uplifting calligraphy workshop, you will discover the art of Chinese calligraphy and embark on a beautiful and peaceful journey. Throughout the class, you will not only gain a newfound appreciation for this ancient art form but also learn how to create your own unique artwork to take home.

Don't worry if you're a beginner; this workshop is suitable for both children and adults. We understand that starting something new can be intimidating, but rest assured that you'll be guided every step of the way. You'll learn the fundamental calligraphy strokes and gradually master the characters, all while enjoying a calming and quiet mind.

The class will begin with an introduction to Chinese calligraphy, shedding light on its rich history and cultural significance. You'll also get acquainted with the four treasures of the study, which are the essential tools for calligraphy. These treasures include the paper, brush, ink, and ink stone.

Under the expert guidance of our experienced instructor, you'll dive into the world of calligraphy through the regular script, a style favoured by Ouyang Xun, a renowned Tang Dynasty calligrapher. You'll learn about the postures and techniques for accomplished calligraphy writing, allowing you to develop your own personal style.

By the end of the workshop, you'll not only have a newfound appreciation for the art of calligraphy but also the ability to create your unique artwork. The transformative experience of writing calligraphy will leave you with a calming and quiet mind, providing you a moment to be with yourself.

Come and join us in this immersive calligraphy workshop, where you'll learn, create, and find inner peace through the stroke of a brush.

[ B ] Chinese ink Painting

Traditional Chinese ink painting conveys philosophy and essence, focusing on capturing the inner spirit rather than creating a realistic representation of external appearance. This class is ideal for those interested in experimenting with different painting materials. It is accessible to everyone, offering a fun and relaxed experience while also providing a journey of mindfulness throughout the process.
Participants will receive an introduction to ink painting, learn basic strokes, and then create their own artwork to adorn their walls.

[ C ] Tea Mistress

I come from Taiwan's rich tea culture and am passionate tea lover. I've discovered spiritual inspiration through the fragrant high mountain teas. I'd be delightful to share this graceful journey with you, either at your home party or in a spring garden setting. Alternatively, you're welcome to join me at Ginette Cafe, where for £10 per person, you can enjoy an hour long experience featuring three different types of tea.

What you'll get
you can make your own writing or painting on a beautiful paper to take home as a memory or a gift for someone.

Iris Liao-Attwood honed her fine art skills in school and pursued further academic studies in art, which has been a significant part of her life. Art is a life style, which stimulate one's inner soul, bringing joy and peace to the mind. It's not merely about creating by hand, but also about experiencing it, engaging with nature, enduring hardship, and learning new things in life. Creating art is enjoyable, but it also serves as a form of self-therapy and meditation. I would love to refine my techniques in ink art and share tea culture with you in London.
