Q: What happens to my pottery after the class?
If you choose to keep your pieces, they will be fired and glazed in our kiln. Finished pieces are usually ready for collection 4–5 weeks after the class. We’ll email you when they’re ready, so please check your inbox and spam/junk folder
Q: How long will you keep my finished pieces?
We can store your finished pieces for one month from the date of our collection email. Due to limited storage space, pieces not collected within this period may be disposed of.
Q: Will my pottery definitely survive the firing process?
Cracking, warping or breakage can occur naturally during firing. We only refund the £5 materials and firing fee if a piece explodes during firing.
Q: Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Bookings are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or rescheduled, regardless of the reason. This includes illness, injury, transport delays, traffic, emergencies, work commitments, weather conditions or changes to personal circumstances.
Q: What happens if I arrive late?
Please arrive 10 minutes before the class starts. If you arrive 30 minutes or more after the scheduled start time, we reserve the right to refuse entry. In this situation, no refund or rescheduling will be offered.
Q: Can I bring my child?
Participants must be aged 11 or over. This is an adult-paced class, so participants aged 11–17 must be able to work independently. Please contact us if you have any questions before booking.
Q: What happens if my class is cancelled by the studio?
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to low bookings or circumstances beyond our control. We will always make every effort to provide as much notice as possible. Our usual no-refund/no-rescheduling policy does not apply when a class is cancelled by us.

Firing and materials are £5 per piece. Choose from our blue or transparent glaze, and we’ll take care of the rest.
(Natural variations in glaze and texture are to be expected.)
Take Home Your Creations
We’ll fire and glaze your pieces, ready to collect in approximately 4–5 weeks. Finished pottery is food-safe, microwave-safe and oven-safe.
We’ll email you when your pieces are ready!
(As ceramics are handmade, natural variations in glaze, texture and size (approximately 15% shrinkage) are to be expected. In rare cases, pieces may crack or break during firing.)
- A minimum of 4 participants is required for the class to go ahead. If fewer than 4 are booked, we may cancel or reschedule.
- A £5 materials and firing fee applies per piece you choose to keep.
- No cancellations or rescheduling are permitted. This does not apply if we cancel the class.

What you'll get
- Clay, aprons and tools will be provided during the class.
- If you would like to keep your finished pieces, a materials and firing fee of £5 per piece is payable on the day of the class.
- Finished pieces are usually ready for collection 4–5 weeks after the class. We will notify you by email when they are ready. Please check your inbox and spam/junk folder.
- We will store finished pieces for one month from the date of our collection email. Pieces not collected within this period may be disposed of due to limited storage space.

Knowledge required
No previous pottery experience is required. This class is suitable for complete beginners.Age RequirementParticipants must be 11 years or older.Participants aged 11–17 are welcome, provided they can work independently in an adult-paced group class. Please read our FAQ before booking for anyone under 18.
What to bring
- Please wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting clay on.
- Please keep fingernails short for health and safety reasons.
- Please arrive 10 minutes before the class starts to sign in and get ready for the demonstration.
- During warmer weather, we recommend bringing water.
- During colder months, please bring an extra layer as the studio can be cool.

FAQ
What happens to my pottery after the class?
If you choose to keep your pieces, they will be fired and glazed in our kiln. Finished pieces are usually ready for collection 4–5 weeks after the class. We’ll email you when they’re ready, so please check your inbox and spam/junk folder
How long will you keep my finished pieces?
We can store your finished pieces for one month from the date of our collection email. Due to limited storage space, pieces not collected within this period may be disposed of.
Will my pottery definitely survive the firing process?
Cracking, warping or breakage can occur naturally during firing. We only refund the £5 materials and firing fee if a piece explodes during firing.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Bookings are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or rescheduled, regardless of the reason. This includes illness, injury, transport delays, traffic, emergencies, work commitments, weather conditions or changes to personal circumstances.
What happens if I arrive late?
Please arrive 10 minutes before the class starts. If you arrive 30 minutes or more after the scheduled start time, we reserve the right to refuse entry. In this situation, no refund or rescheduling will be offered.
Can I bring my child?
Participants must be aged 11 or over. This is an adult-paced class, so participants aged 11–17 must be able to work independently. Please contact us if you have any questions before booking.
What happens if my class is cancelled by the studio?
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to low bookings or circumstances beyond our control. We will always make every effort to provide as much notice as possible. Our usual no-refund/no-rescheduling policy does not apply when a class is cancelled by us.

Making clay pots, candlesticks and bowls on the wheel is not as easy as it looks on the TV - but a couple of hours of 'playing with mud' under clear instruction with lots of help, and the class all ended up with pieces to be proud of. No restrictions on how many items. Teaching with great and broken down easy to follow steps and there was lots of hands on time which was supported with guidance when needed. A great fun class and great facility. Ari was a great teacher with a really nice, calm way that made you feel really supported and showed her passion for what she does. Highly recommend!

To be taught how to improve our objects later on at the table with the various tools would be good too. But we'd like to do it again!

She guided us through the potters wheel step by step. This was my first go at using it. I made a large coffee cup, a small bowl and a small face of my cat. I will definitely be back. This was my Christmas gift. Very easy to use the gift card and book the date I preferred. I cant wait to pick my pieces up!!. You can have them glazed in blue, cream or you can book again to paint and design them how you wish.

End products when the tutor glazed them and finally fired them 5 weeks later, was pretty poor due to rushed tuition. Nothing to drink for 3 hours. Am diabetic so had to take time out of the class to eat. Would have been better to just focus on one element or do an all day taster.

A rare and hidden pottery Eden in the heart of east London, Stoke Newington. Cernamic studio in Stoke Newington was founded, created, and built during the first lockdown of the pandemic, through hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. Nam and Susi two professional ceramicists run this fun and affordable pottery studio open for everyone from all walks of life.Nam Tran is an award-winning practitioner who gives lectures and demos at universities and exhibits internationally. A ceramic lecturer and head of the departments in design and multi-media with Kensington and Chelsea college. Nam specialises in wheel-thrown raku, bringing years of experience and craftsmanship to every object made.Tran's work is focused primarily on exploring the physical properties of clay and material experimentation is a strong characteristic of his work. He has been developing making enclosed forms that are much stronger than open forms and therefore resonates well with the alternative firing technique he uses. His work is dominated by thrown pieces that subtly echo the urban roots and conceptual design. Nam Tran first made pots as a teenager on a wheel in his own bedroom and remembers being captivated by the experience. With his unique alternatives methods and approach to ceramics, Nam Tran identifies rules and manipulates and bends them.
