1.5 hours Class size 1 to 28 guests

  £36 - £48 (£48 per guest when you book for 1+ guests, £36/guest for 4+ guests)

Always wanted to try pottery making but never got round to it? Get creative with clay and ignite new pottery passions with this hands-on ceramics class!
Hosted in a fun, creative craft studio in central London, this one-stop pottery workshop kicks off with a warm welcome from your teacher, who'll provide an informative tour and demonstrations of the ceramic making process as you chill out and enjoy a drink of your choice.
Once you've absorbed some handy tips and tricks, it'll be your turn to grab your apron and get your hands messy with some homemade clay! You'll learn all about wheel throwing before mastering hand-building techniques like slab building and coiling to complete a pottery piece of your choice. From magnificent mugs and cake stands to beautiful designer bowls - the only limit is your imagination!
At the end of this wonderful London pottery class, you can choose between taking your piece home to air dry or leaving it at the studio to be fired and glazed in the kiln, with a cost of £10 per pot.
Please note:
  • If fired at the studio your pottery will be ready to collect within three weeks. If you are travelling a long way to pick up your work, you can email ahead to check if it's ready.
  • As this is a BYOB event, all participants must be aged 18 or over.

Recent reviews of Ultimate Pottery Wheel Throwing and Painting Workshop

  • 3/5 from Aliaksei Mukhachou, attended Aug 2025: Alright, but english was somewhat unintelligible
  • 5/5 from Sally Manning, attended Jul 2025: Lots of fun and a great intro to pottery!
  • 5/5 from Chris Boucher, attended Jun 2025: Was a really fun experience, the teacher was really helpful and made sure everyone got something out of it.
  • 5/5 from Alicea, attended Oct 2024: I went on my own to this class and had a great time. You have plenty of time to decorate and play around with designs. And the teachers are really helpful.
  • 3/5 from Lou Rudolph, attended May 2024: The ‘teachers’ were lovely, however its setup to churn out as many people as possible. You spend maybe 5 minutes in total actually throwing clay on a wheel before the ‘teacher’ comes to correct the form of your clay and send you to the next stage where you’re manually amending your pottery. A nice afternoon but not what it says on the tin, this isn’t 2 hours of learning how to throw pottery on a wheel.
  • 3/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Mar 2024: The class was enjoyable and the teacher was friendly. You’re not able to take your pottery away right away, have to return in two weeks
  • 5/5 from William, attended Feb 2024: Had a wonderful early Valentine’s Day session with my partner. The teacher was fun and passionate about the work and helped out when we had questions or difficulties. The venue was nice and cosy with all the materials and tools needed to make a great little pot. My favourite part was customising my pot with little details and giving it my own flair. Looking forward to picking it up in a few weeks once glazed.
  • 5/5 from Mary Pattinson, attended Feb 2024: Packed a lot into 1.5 hours! Would love more time on the wheel but understand theres only so much that can be squeezed into a short session
  • 4/5 from Jumoke Shoderu, attended Nov 2023: A very busy classcould have done with a little extra time. Overall a lovely fun class, and a nice introduction to pottery and wheel throwing.
  • 3/5 from Emile Junet, attended Nov 2023: Not a low-key class, we were so many… and the guy made the base himself for everyone at the end… not a lot of time practising… Everybody is drinking Prosecco and champagne. It is very much a chill class, not very suitable for the ones like me who really want to learn ceramics…
  • 3/5 from Funso (Funshor) Shoderu, attended Nov 2023: The ceramics workshop included some wheel throwing, a bit of hand building, and painting of your creation. Had a laugh with some of the people I met at the workshop and enjoyed sipping my drink that we were allowed to bring. My only criticism of the workshop is that it was too short and far too busy.
  • 3/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Nov 2023: Each stage of the class was fun, but it felt quite rushed as there was a group immediately before and after us. Also, not a lot of opportunity to drink the bottles we brought with us. It was a nice, brief introduction to pottery.
  • 5/5 from Abdul Shamriz, attended Oct 2023: Good amount of time, didn't feel rushed and it was a good experience. I would come again for another class.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Sep 2023: Was a great experience, class was fast paced but informative for beginners. Would definitely recommend.
  • 5/5 from Hanna Ramanava, attended Sep 2023: More help during painting stage would be great. Overall, amazing experience and great help from teachers.
  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Sep 2023: Nice fun vibe - well organised but a bit rushed! Would have loved to have more time to learn how to play with the clay
  • 1/5 from Becca Painter, attended Sep 2023: Just a really unfriendly experience - not at all what we were expecting from the description. Took ten minutes for anyone to greet us then another ten minutes waiting. Instructions were hard to follow and the instructor seemed to be managing three groups at once so had very little time. No chance to drink any BYOB. Seems like they're just trying to get as many people through as possible. Not worth the money, stay away.
  • 5/5 from Victoria Rizzo, attended Aug 2023: Joss was a great teacher and made the session really light and funny. It was also really informative and looking forward to trying it some more
  • 3/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Aug 2023: The teacher who took the pottery class itself was really excellent but after the class had ended it was unclear what we were supposed to do / where we were supposed to go to paint it and finish it. We have to wait two weeks to have the pottery glazed so I can't comment on the follow up yet.
  • 3/5 from Shanti Kulandaivelu, attended Aug 2023: Class was okay. The lady who did the meet and greet was awful- seemed confused about the booking. Seated our group of 6 and then forgot to tell us the session had started downstairs- meaning we missed out on the intro and weren’t able to take part next to each other. Session itself was okay- could have been more organised.
  • 3/5 from Elli Ottosson, attended Jul 2023: Overpriced for what you get. Even have to pay ten pounds extra to have the pot glazed - this should be included in the price
  • 5/5 from Cheuk Lo, attended May 2023: All the teachers were very helpful from start to finishes. I was kind of slow in EVERY step but no one ever rushes me! You will have a set time when you will be on the wheels but after that it’s creativity time and you can use clay to shape your piece or add to it. Then you can paint it and take your time! Super cool and chilled experience highly recommend for beginner like me.
  • 5/5 from Sean Wyatt-Livesley, attended May 2023: Great little workshop. The staff were very friendly, and it was structured very well. First section was using the wheel and learning the basics. The instructor made sure everyone had something to take away. Then we went over to forming and then painting left to do what we wanted. It was a little warm downstairs, and there's only one small toilet but neither were something that annoyed me. I can understand other reviews that if it's busy then you feel rushed or unattended but that didn't happen on this occasion.
  • 5/5 from Angela Pan, attended Apr 2023: The teachers were very knowledgeable and kind. There were many students, which made the class busy, but the teachers were able to keep the class moving and help everyone with their pieces. They also encouraged creativity and assured that imperfections were what made a piece special - I really loved this
  • 5/5 from Naomi, attended Apr 2023: The class was really exciting and fun. The teacher was so informative and attentive - we learned how to shape, lifts and add texture to our clay. It was great that we could then add colour at the end and had the option to take the finished product home or (for an additional cost) leave it to be glazed in the kiln. I can’t wait to see my finished product.
  • 5/5 from Lily Livermoore, attended Apr 2023: Jing was amazing had so much fun, highly recommend to anyone who loves art as much as they do a drink
  • 5/5 from Carmen Whitelock, attended Mar 2023: Loved it! Great set up. Good teachers. And plenty of inspiration. The 90 mins flies by. I’m hooked. Thank you.
  • 5/5 from Michael Tompkins, attended Mar 2023: Teacher was very good and explained everything clearly, I would recommend to friends looking for a beginners class
  • 5/5 from Natalia, attended Mar 2023: Very good teaching of pottery making, super fun activity. Will come back to do something else
  • 5/5 from Jack Thorn, attended Mar 2023: Very good experience, with friendly instructors and a good amount of time for a beginner session. Being able to make bigger items would have been a plus.
  • 4/5 from Shrisha Panda, attended Mar 2023: Lovely workshop, friendly and good vibes. Spent a bit of time on the wheel but mostly reshaping it with tools and then painting! Good experience
  • 5/5 from Sobia Kazmi, attended Feb 2023: Our pottery teacher was Cathal who was great and fixed our pottery if we made any mistakes! There were 3 parts: The turn table pottery build, the enhancements, and the painting. The venue was easy to find. All materials are provided, however there is an additional £10 charge if you want your pot glazed which we wanted.
  • 5/5 from Christiana, attended Feb 2023: Absolutely loves the whole process. It seemed hard when they were describing what to do, but after the demonstrations, it was fine. Always on hand to help. Will be doing more so I can be perfect.
  • 5/5 from Edouard Godin, attended Feb 2023: Really great experience and an amazing 90 mins experience many thanks! We loved it very much
  • 3/5 from Trevor Francisca, attended Feb 2023: very fast pace. but overall great experience to have done it once. instructions were clear and instructors were helpful.
  • 2/5 from Yvonne Yim, attended Feb 2023: It was very rushed factory style workshop, while the other group was in stage 2, we joined in stage 1, 3 groups per night. The place was overcrowded. I thought we’d mess around but we literally get around 5 mins hands on on the wheel, other time the instructor just did it for us. Also, I booked two spots first and the next day they told me it’s fully booked and cancelled on me. Couldn’t they just update the system?
  • 5/5 from Hannah Galloway, attended Jan 2023: The venue was really easy to find and a nice big space for the class. The instructor for the pot throwing was really helpful and funny, I really enjoyed his style. Overall it was a really fun date night!
  • 5/5 from Clare Sterland, attended Jan 2023: Really friendly host who explained exactly what we needed to do at each stage. A very relaxed evening and a nice piece of pottery produced.
  • 5/5 from Ash M, attended Jan 2023: Great class. Nice and fun and well taught too. Would recommend especially for friends or dates.
  • 4/5 from R D, attended Jan 2023: enjoyable event, but far too many in the class - over 20 - and that again at another table It was hard to hear the teacher and far too noisy. It was a pity as the idea and the location is great but just not very well organised
  • 3/5 from Michael Leung, attended Jan 2023: Bit rushed and classes were too big I feel. Didn't get enough time on the wheel and shaping the clay.
  • 3/5 from Camille Daeninck, attended Jan 2023: The class itself seemed quite rushed, and the session had so many people that there was not enough space to personalize our piece without bumping into each other. I was also under the impression that firing was included in the cost of the class. If this additional cost could be emphasized upon signing up, it would be greatly appreciated.
  • 3/5 from George Wells, attended Jan 2023: We had a nice time and it was good fun. We did feel like a bit of a battery chicken rather than individuals and it would've been nice to have a bit more ownership of the pots made
  • 3/5 from Maliha Bhola, attended Jan 2023: The studio was buzzing and the class was definitely fun. Thought it was a bit bizarre that we paid £46 for the ceramics class, but were told we'd have to pay an extra £10 if we wanted to have our piece properly baked and glazed for pick up in 2 weeks. It should've been included in the price of the class and it turned out to be much more expensive than we had budgeted for. Our instructor also left mid-way so we didn't get a lot of direction once we were off the wheel.
  • 3/5 from Belen Bittini, attended Jan 2023: Fun concept, fun activity. Perhaps slightly crowded so everything feels rushed. Maybe because it was a weekend the staff were feeling tired but it wasn’t a very friendly environment. As I said the class it’s fun, but very rushed, for a lot of people and teachers won’t spend much time helping you
  • 5/5 from Renée Gordon, attended Dec 2022: Had a lovely time, was a great Christmas gift experience for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. The teachers were really friendly, helpful and encouraging. It was really good fun as well as relaxing. considering the materials provided, the paints and the teaching, it’s all great value for money compared to other places I’ve looked into before in London. The studio is also very beautiful and welcoming. Lovely stuffs :)
  • 5/5 from Zoe Risbridger-Smith, attended Dec 2022: Really fun day out, really great instructor and amazing value for money! Thank you so much!
  • 5/5 from Yuyuki Tanno, attended Dec 2022: The teachers were very helpful and we had really good experience! Highly recommend it to everyone.
  • 5/5 from Roberto Minghi, attended Dec 2022: Thank you so much for the lovely expirence! It was a very cute and meditative date.
  • 3/5 from Charukie Dharmaratne, attended Dec 2022: A fun date night mess about if you want to have a wine and a giggle but would not recommend if you are serious about wanting to learn pottery.
