Join a Hobbycraft Colleague in store for a One-to-one and ask any questions you have about crochet. Stuck on a project? Need help with understanding a pattern? Trying to get to grips with a new stitch? Our craft expert will share tips and techniques tailored to you.

This is suitable for crocheters looking for that next step on from our Beginners' Workshops, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to gain confidence with your craft, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about stitches you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Artisan know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a crochet pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

I learned more in that 1 hour than I’d ever been able to on my own and I’m now happily and confidently crocheting away using different wools, stitches, hooks and some knowledge of how to read patterns. Already looking forward to booking up another, more progressive session, with Rachel soon. The other crafting sessions and workshops held in Hobbycraft look good too so now tempted to have a go at some of those as well!

  • 5/5 from Jo Spence, attended Sep 2026: Scobby at Basingstoke was my teacher she was lovely, very patient and professional but also kind and understanding thank you. The time flew by.
  • 5/5 from Devyani Rao, attended Sep 2026: I thoroughly enjoyed my session with Chrissi, who, as many others have said, was incredibly patient with me. She helped me get back into crocheting, a hobby I had stopped doing many years ago. Over the years, I had switched to knitting, but after Chrissi’s class, I’ve decided to return to crocheting and rediscover the enjoyment I used to get from it. I would highly recommend Chrissi to anyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or, like me, someone looking to get back into crocheting and enjoy this wonderful hobby again. Thank you, Chrissi!
  • 5/5 from Karen Sewell, attended Sep 2026: My one to one crochet class was excellent. I had already attended a beginners class and I wanted to learn how to crochet a granny square.. The teacher explained & showed me very clearly how to do this. She was friendly, patient & very helpful. I was very pleased with what I had learned.
  • 5/5 from Julie Dawn Darby, attended Sep 2026: I really enjoyed my one-to-one crochet class with Elliott. She was lovely, very patient and explained everything clearly which made me feel at ease as a complete beginner. The hour went so quickly and although I learned the basics, in hindsight, I think I would have liked to have gone over a few more stitches so I had a little more to practice when I got home. That said, it was a really enjoyable sessions and a great introduction to crochet. Thank you Elliott for a lovely session. I'm looking forward to practising what I've learned and hopefully getting better - and if I do manage to make anything, I'll definitely be bringing it in to show you! :)
  • 4/5 from Jane Gregory, attended Sep 2026: The teacher was very good and I understood and was able to put into practise the things she taught me. My one criticism, which is nothing to do with her, is that I don’t think an hour is enough time. I actually had a basic knowledge of crochet, and even with that the hour went very quickly - if I were a complete novice, I don’t think much would have been achieved in that time. As £25 for a hour is quite expensive, maybe an alternative would be to give an option to have a discounted two hour slot.
