What you'll do
If you're searching for creative things to do in West Byfleet, why not unleash your inner carpenter with the help of an expert woodworking craftsman David Free?In this woodworking class, you'll learn all of the tips, tricks and techniques you need to construct and upholster a beautiful footstool with a lifting lid and plenty of hidden storage space. Your teacher will provide all of the tools and equipment, so all you need to bring is a willingness to get creative and a metre of your favourite fabric to add a unique finishing touch to your piece!Don't worry if you've never attempted your own woodworking projects before, as class sizes are deliberately kept small to allow for one-to-one support and guidance throughout the experience.At the end of this beginners' woodworking class, you'll have a new set of practical skills and a handcrafted footstool, ready to take home and finish off with a lick of paint. Please note: there will be a small additional charge payable to your teacher on the day of your class for the foam and lining unless you bring your own.

Your teacher
At the Great British Woodshop, students of all abilities are given a warm welcome at our large and fully tooled workshop in West Byfleet, Surrey. Courses are run by woodworking craftsman and television presenter David Free. DRB certified, David has been practising woodwork for 40 years and has been teaching all ages for 20 of those. David is passionate about sharing his woodwork and DIY knowledge with others.
