West African Soul Food Experience

Discover West African comfort, one soulful dish at a time!

10 x 1.5 hours Experience size 1 to 10 guests

£26 - £29 (Earlybird price of £26 applies if you book into a public session 5+ days ahead)

Discover the warmth, depth, and comfort of West African soul food -- one dish at a time. Each class focuses on a single signature recipe, allowing you to slow down, cook with intention, and understand the flavours behind the region’s most loved comfort dishes.
With Chef Dumebi guiding you step-by-step, you’ll learn how to balance spice, build flavour, and adapt classic techniques into dishes you can confidently recreate at home. No prior cooking experience needed!
Dishes you'll explore:
  • Smoky Jollof rice bowls layered with herbs and aromatics
  • Rich yam bowls with roasted peppers and ginger
  • Creamy black-eyed bean stews with modern twists
  • Coconut plantain curry bowls
  • Slow-simmered mushroom and beef “beans and bread” pot pie
  • Soulful vegetable and palm-oil stews
  • Suya-spiced sweet potato or bean bowls
  • Coconut-infused tomato broths with rice or fonio
Each class features one of these dishes so you can fully immerse yourself in the technique and story behind it. You’ll leave with a warm meal, new skills, and a deeper connection to the heart of West African comfort cooking.
Allergen and dietary information:
Please email any allergen information or dietary preferences ahead of the class, so the session can be adapted safely and comfortably. West African cooking often includes spices, nuts, gluten-containing grains or palm oil, so advance notice helps me accommodate you properly.

I’m a Lagos-born, London-based chef, educator, and storyteller who brings the flavours of West Africa into modern kitchens with confidence and creativity. After years cooking across Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, and the UK, my culinary style blends heritage with innovation — familiar spices, reimagined techniques, and dishes that make people feel seen, connected, and inspired.
My classes are built for curious home cooks, families, and food lovers who want to explore African flavours in a fun, relaxed, and hands-on way. Whether we’re whisking hibiscus custard, building plant-based suya bowls, folding fluffy brioche, or rethinking Sunday favourites, I guide students through each step with warmth, humour, and a focus on simple, honest ingredients.
I believe food should tell a story — yours, mine, and the cultures that shaped us. That’s why every session is more than a recipe; it’s a journey through flavour, memory, and creativity.
Join me in the kitchen, let’s cook something unforgettable together.
