Vanessa is a professional artist-educator with over 7 years of teaching experience across a variety of art mediums, and is a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Art and Design from the Institute of Education, UCL. She graduated from Goldsmiths (BA Fine Art and Art History) with First Class Honours and an MA in Aesthetics and Art Theory from Kingston University.
She is passionate about empowering others in their creative practice through an ethos of accessibility and has supported children, teenagers, and adults in classroom settings and workshops.
In 2019, she was commissioned as an Artist in Residence at Facebook's (Meta) Asia Pacific Headquarters to create an extensive and experimental multi-media installation. Most recently in 2022, she was selected as UCL's representative for Tsukuba University's Artist in Residence programme. In 2023, she completed a residency under Master Potter Kwak Kyungtae in Icheon, South Korea.
As an artist, her work has been exhibited across Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, and the UK.

Received the class as a gift and it was the best workshop I've ever done. Relaxed atmosphere, teaching was informative and well paced. Had a great choice of art to work on, all manageable within the time limit and enthusiastic help from Vanessa. Highly recommended!

My first time with paint brushes. I really enjoyed the class with Vanessa. She is very patient and knowledgeable. Learning about the story behind Korean Minhwa painting was fascinating. I will definitely be back again to experience Vanessa's other classes. Thank you, Vanessa

Vanessa was wonderful! So interesting and helpful. The class was so much fun, I learnt a lot, got to work with materials o had not worked with before, and I really liked the piece I got to take home. I highly recommend!

Vanessa has been a fantastic teacher, providing you with the materials for all the lesson, working with you on every step, from explaining to you the tradition and history of the Japanese painting, explaining every step of the drawing and painting to the final step of framing your work.
Good balance of guidance, explaining the process but allowing you to work. Also a good plus setting the atmosphere with Studio Ghibli jazz music!
