Tim made it really easy with his hands-on approach, helping us to get the steps right, so we could move on to the next. It was great building something three-dimensional. I absolutely recommend the class.

Tim from The Green Wood Guild was an excellent teacher and made me and everyone else really feel at home in his studio. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone.

I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. A couple of the bench making class were in with us too, finishing off their benches and that looked great too. The City Farm is fun to walk around at lunch time. You can feed the goats.

You’ll learn a lot about tools, techniques and your own capabilities - under Tim's expert and patient guidance. Interestingly, the course of 6 people was split evenly both by age (under 30 vs over 50) and gender, which made for a very good mix. This was my 2nd course with Tim - following spatula carving 8 months ago - and I look forward to the next one!

He explained clearly, step by step, how to build the stool, from selecting the wood for the legs and seat to scraping for finishing. My son was smiling from ear to ear as he carried his stool home. Worth every penny.

Our tutor was patient and encouraging, and bailed me out of a hole when I messed up. And on the tube home I couldn't resist a bit of "show and tell". We both really enjoyed our day. ADJ

The venue was perfect for the 6 students and Tim, well what can I say, knowledgable, calm, confident and put everyone at ease. He explained everything, the tools we were using, source of the wood, how, why and only stepped in if required. We may have only made a 3 legged stool, but I am hooked, thanks Tim.

Tim was an excellent teacher - both in terms of what he taught, how he taught it, and how good natured and good humoured he was while teaching us. He made the day super fun, and I learned a lot that I didn't expect to learn. He's very warm and personable, so even if you are coming solo - he'll make you feel very welcome. The venue is brilliant, and the materials are sustainably sourced and super high quality (and gorgeous wood). It was excellent value for money and I'd definitely recommend it and/or go to other classes with Tim. Thanks for everything Tim! Daisy +1, aka Emily ;)

I thought I’d botch it but was pleasantly surprised! I think it’s great value for money based on the amount you cover in the time given and you get a handmade stool out of it! If you’re deliberating, I’d say just give it a go. The group was really lovely, and max people is 6 so it’s not too full on in number. All in all, loved it and going to do more!

Very approachable and clearly passionate about woodworking, answering all related queries in detail and in layman’s terms. Explaining why we used certain material and tools. Would highly recommend to anyone (coming from someone with no woodworking skills or background). And you come away with a new statement piece for your home. Also nice being in the setting of Stepney City Farm, really created that extra bit of immersion, rather than a generic municipal style building.

Tim is a great teacher and supports you throughout the whole workshop and gives you lots of information so you could go away and make your own stool at home if you wanted to. I really recommend classes at the Green Wood Guild, plus you get to see the animals on the farm in the breaktimes.

Tim's a very good instructor - just the right balance of telling and showing you how to do things, then letting you get on with it and gently keeping an eye on how you're getting on and helping out when needed. Stepney City Farm is a lovely location too. I thoroughly recommend this class.

Loved the farm venue too, lots to do during the lunch break, and there was a farmers market on too! The wood Tim provided was very good quality, my stool will probably be around a long time! I learned that I like working with wood! I would like to do more work with wood but not sure what. All in all a good day had. Thanks Tim.
