6 hours Location Hackney Class size 1 to 4 (public classes), 10 to 30   £75

Make your own art! A fun day out learning how to screen print a 1 colour print. A perfect creative date, a unique east London experience - the perfect beginner workshop! At the end of the day you will leave with a set of handmade prints in your own design. No experience needed, this workshop is for everyone!
Not only will you walk away with your screen printed design, but you'll also have a brilliant understanding of the creative process — so you can continue developing your newly found passion in your own time.
Introduction to Screen printing
The workshop starts off with a brief introduction to screen printing and the Print Club London studio. You be will talked through the equipment that will used throughout the day, as well as the general theory that goes into the process. You will individually coat your own screens in preparation for use later in the day to print your own edition of prints, and will be shown some amazing examples of artwork that’s been printed in our studio by working artists.
Artworking
Our tutors will talk you through some different digital and analogue processes that will help you turn your own image into a usable Positive ready to expose on your screen. Don’t worry if you aren’t too familiar with Photoshop or using a computer, the technicians will go slowly through the techniques and ensure that the theory of what they are doing is understood by all.
Exposing
Here is where you will take your Positive and expose it onto your coated screen to make the stencil you will be printing with in the afternoon. You will be making a 1 colour print and therefore expose one image. The tutor will talk you through how our large exposure unit works and then help you wash out your screen afterwards.
Printing
Once all preparation has been done it’s time to print! The printers will show you how to get your screen set up on our printing beds and some key printing techniques. You will then be left to print your own 1 colour small edition of prints, on our workshop paper supplied by GF Smith. Our tutors will be there long the way give you a helping hand and talk you through any problems that might pop up. Once you’re finished printing you learn how to clean your screen completely, ready for use again!

  • 5/5 from David Gardner, attended Sep 2026: Kim was great at making all of the group feel relaxed and was keen to help out and give advice or help whenever needed. Would recommend 100%
  • 5/5 from Lance Tabraham, attended Jun 2026: A most enjoyable day learning to screen print! The tutor made sure we knew what we were doing and why, and was patient with our questions, and mistakes. I came away with a good understanding of the process, and was inspired to do some more printing! Recommended.
  • 5/5 from Daniel Mead, attended Jan 2026: I really, really enjoyed this! The Print Club were very friendly and welcoming. The class was thorough and interesting — our teacher, Kim, was great — a real breeze to get along with and very knowledgeable, she answered all 5, 000 of my questions. I was super happy with the results of my artwork and I’m very keen on coming back to do a deluxe course.
  • 5/5 from Ian Fuggle, attended Jan 2026: Kim was brilliant, I'll be coming back.
  • 4/5 from Hannah Watkins, attended Aug 2025: We had a great day at Print Club London, our teacher Holly and assistant Rich were both very friendly and supportive throughout the process and we were happy with our prints :) It would have been good to have a clearer idea of what we would leave with after the session, the description mentions '1 colour print' which means a print using one colour, rather than 'not B&W' which a few in our group seem to have misunderstood. That said, we were all pleased with our results and the colours on offer were varied and high quality. We had a large group (10) so there was a bit of waiting around in the afternoon as everyone was printing, but it was a socialable group so not too bad :) Would highly recommend for a fun and creative day!
  • 5/5 from Tilly Elcock, attended May 2025: I got this as a gift for my dad & we had the best time. We did the screen printing process from start to finish - even showing us how to change images in photoshop to create a usable image for the screen. Our teachers were great, very enthusiastic & friendly. Would highly recommend & would love to go back to do another workshop!
  • 5/5 from Rachael, attended Aug 2024: Loved the screen printing day! Great place, friendly vibes, easy instructions and good quality prints. I haven't done screen printing before so this was a perfect introduction for a beginner. I will definitely come back again.
  • 5/5 from Huguette Lelong, attended Mar 2023: I just loved the class, as a total beginner I didn't know what to expect but left with a great print (10 actually) that I made from scratch. Craig is just amazing, knowledgeable, patient and super nice, Ryan is great too! The studio has great vibes and the group got along well. It was a present and just so glad i got it!
  • 5/5 from Sam Vergauwen, attended Feb 2023: We really enjoyed this workshop! The two teachers were really great, we had a really good time and we now have a good sense on how screenprinting works. Came home with 8 prints per person. After following one workshop you are allowed to become a member as well, so you can take your new skills to the next level. All in all a great day, partner really loved it as well! Some tips for future attendees that would have been useful to know beforehand: There was some time to grab lunch or coffee in the area halfway through the lesson at one of the cafe's nearby, the studio is not very well insulated so it's good to wear something like a fleece if it's cold, and for the photo you're bringing you might want to go with something high contrast.
  • 5/5 from Beverley Day, attended Feb 2023: A really enjoyable introduction to screen printing. Matt, our teacher was everything you would want in an Instructor and I came away having learnt a lot about screen printing but also having thoroughly enjoyed the day and the time spent with other students.
  • 5/5 from Matt Gray, attended Jan 2023: I had such a lovely day on this course. The teachers were super lovely and not only told us how to do the stuff covered in the workshop, but also the theory, history and examples of how to take it further. The venue is lovely, with lots of space and light and not too much noise throughout the day. If you're there in winter bring warm layers as it did get a little chilly. I am definitely considering doing the advanced workshop next.
  • 5/5 from Carl Lawton, attended Dec 2022: Great fun and useful would like to do more and Maybe try pottery as well
  • 5/5 from John Stewart, attended Nov 2022: It was fantastic, would definitely like to do it again, and maybe do a longer course
