Screen Printing Workshop

Make your own art! A fun day out learning how to screen print a 1 colour print. A perfect creative date, a unique east London experience - the perfect beginner workshop! At the end of the day you will leave with a set of handmade prints in your own design. No experience needed, this workshop is for everyone! Not only will you walk away with your screen printed design, but you'll also have a brilliant understanding of the creative process — so you can continue developing your newly found passion in your own time.Introduction to Screen printingThe workshop starts off with a brief introduction to screen printing and the Print Club London studio. You be will talked through the equipment that will used throughout the day, as well as the general theory that goes into the process. You will individually coat your own screens in preparation for use later in the day to print your own edition of prints, and will be shown some amazing examples of artwork that’s been printed in our studio by working artists.ArtworkingOur tutors will talk you through some different digital and analogue processes that will help you turn your own image into a usable Positive ready to expose on your screen. Don’t worry if you aren’t too familiar with Photoshop or using a computer, the technicians will go slowly through the techniques and ensure that the theory of what they are doing is understood by all.ExposingHere is where you will take your Positive and expose it onto your coated screen to make the stencil you will be printing with in the afternoon. You will be making a 1 colour print and therefore expose one image. The tutor will talk you through how our large exposure unit works and then help you wash out your screen afterwards.PrintingOnce all preparation has been done it’s time to print! The printers will show you how to get your screen set up on our printing beds and some key printing techniques. You will then be left to print your own 1 colour small edition of prints, on our workshop paper supplied by GF Smith. Our tutors will be there long the way give you a helping hand and talk you through any problems that might pop up. Once you’re finished printing you learn how to clean your screen completely, ready for use again! All of the screen printing materials to create your artwork, including many different coloured inks.
