There’s something incredibly satisfying about Sashiko. Simple stitches, striking geometric patterns and that wonderfully calming feeling of making something slowly, by hand.
Originally used in Japan to strengthen and repair textiles, Sashiko has become a beautiful contemporary embroidery style and once you get into the rhythm of those tiny stitches, it’s surprisingly addictive.
In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the story behind Sashiko, master the simple running stitch and discover how to create its distinctive geometric patterns. You’ll then start your own Sashiko design on a tote bag to take home and finish.
No embroidery experience needed at all. We’ll guide you through it step by step. Because once you know how to Sashiko, you'll start looking at everything differently…
That denim jacket? Sashiko it.
A favourite pair of jeans? Sashiko them.
Cushions, bags, clothes, wall hangings? Absolutely.
Our Sashiko workshops at The Handmade Festival sold out in days so we’re bringing this beautiful craft back to London.

Hey, I’m Jane, and I’m obsessed with all things crafty! If it involves glue, yarn, paint, or paper—chances are, I’ve tried it. I started Tea and Crafting back in 2009 as a cosy, welcoming workshop space in Covent Garden because I wanted to share my love of crafting with everyone.
I totally get that life is busy, so I made it my mission to offer fun, relaxed, and totally doable craft workshops—no six-week commitment required! Just pop in, get creative, and walk away with something amazing (even if you think you're “not crafty”).
Fast forward 12 years, and I’m still here, sharing the magic of making alongside a fantastic team of expert crafters. Because honestly? Crafting isn’t just about being good at it—it’s about the joy, the creativity, and that unbeatable feel-good factor. So, come craft with us! ️
