Wheel Throwing Experience Gifts
A 2-hour intimate introduction to wheel throwing in London, for complete beginners in a working artist's studio. Ever wanted to try the potter's wheel? Come and get your hands dirty at MudSoul Pottery for a relaxed, intimate introduction to wheel throwing.
With a maximum of just two people per session, you'll receive personalised guidance throughout the experience -- making this ideal for complete beginners, couples, friends, birthdays or anyone looking for a creative experience in London.
You'll learn the fundamentals of working with clay on the wheel, from centring and opening the clay to pulling up the walls and shaping your own forms.
What to expect:
  • Introduction to clay and the potter's wheel.
  • Demonstration by your artist tutor.
  • Learn how to centre clay.
  • Learn to open and pull up the walls.
  • Create your own forms on the wheel.
  • Personalised one-to-one guidance throughout.
  • Time to experiment and develop your pieces.
  • Your selected piece(s) can be glazed and fired for an additional fee/according to the package selected.
No previous experience is necessary. You don't need to be "good at art" -- just come ready to experiment, get messy and have fun. Take home your finished pieces after firing to show off with pride!

Hi, I'm Alesha — an artist, ceramicist and educator, and the founder of MudSoul Pottery.
My journey with clay began during lockdown, after I was made redundant from my job. What started as a hobby quickly became a full-time career. Clay had become my therapy and helped me reconnect with myself. I found my inner child again.
I hold an MA in Arts and Learning from Goldsmiths, University of London and an MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art. My work has been exhibited and commissioned in London, and I have worked across the arts and cultural sector for many years.
You don't need to consider yourself an artist to enjoy clay. In fact, some of my favourite teaching experiences have been with people who arrive convinced that they're "not creative".
Clay has a wonderful way of bringing out your inner child!
I love creating relaxed spaces where people can switch off from their phones, slow down and use their hands. There's something incredibly grounding about sitting at a pottery wheel, feeling the clay move beneath your hands and watching a form emerge.
My teaching is very hands-on and encouraging. I'll demonstrate the techniques, guide you through the process and help you troubleshoot when things inevitably go a little wonky!
I created MudSoul because I wanted pottery to feel less intimidating and more accessible, social and soulful.
My studio experiences combine my love of clay with music, culture, creativity and connection. Rather than a large class where you can feel lost in the crowd, my wheel sessions are intentionally small, with a maximum of two people.
That means I can give you plenty of individual attention and help you learn at your own pace.
