MudSoul Pottery

Hi, I'm Alesha — an artist, ceramicist and educator, and the founder of MudSoul Pottery. My journey with clay began during lockdown, after I was made redundant from my job. What started as a hobby quickly became a full-time career. Clay had become my therapy and helped me reconnect with myself. I found my inner child again.I hold an MA in Arts and Learning from Goldsmiths, University of London and an MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art. My work has been exhibited and commissioned in London, and I have worked across the arts and cultural sector for many years. You don't need to consider yourself an artist to enjoy clay. In fact, some of my favourite teaching experiences have been with people who arrive convinced that they're "not creative".Clay has a wonderful way of bringing out your inner child!I love creating relaxed spaces where people can switch off from their phones, slow down and use their hands. There's something incredibly grounding about sitting at a pottery wheel, feeling the clay move beneath your hands and watching a form emerge. My teaching is very hands-on and encouraging. I'll demonstrate the techniques, guide you through the process and help you troubleshoot when things inevitably go a little wonky!I created MudSoul because I wanted pottery to feel less intimidating and more accessible, social and soulful. My studio experiences combine my love of clay with music, culture, creativity and connection. Rather than a large class where you can feel lost in the crowd, my wheel sessions are intentionally small, with a maximum of two people. That means I can give you plenty of individual attention and help you learn at your own pace.
