In this exclusively private workshop, you'll embark on a creative journey to craft ceramic pots on the pottery wheel & you can BYOB. If you're looking for the perfect pottery date or some one-on-one time with friends, this workshop is an ideal choice.
Hosted by Amanda, a potter with 17 years of experience, this private workshop will be a fun-filled experience with engaging demonstrations and personalized guidance so don't worry if it's your first time.
During this 2-hour private pottery workshop, you'll start by learning everything you need to know to create a pot on the pottery wheel with plenty of time to practise each step. You'll then be provided with even more clay and have a 2nd chance at making another masterpiece. It is the ideal scenario to learn new skills, explore clay, and socialize in a relaxed atmosphere. By the end of the workshop, each guest will have crafted up to 2 beautiful handmade pots to use or display at home as a memory of your experience.
Let's explore your options:
Craft: Create a pot using air-dry clay on the pottery wheel, allowing you to take your creations home for painting and display. Unfortunately, they won’t be watertight, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a one-off experience.
Craft: Make a pot - With air-dry clay, you can take your pots home right away. Don't worry we have boxes so you can safely get them home. Once dry, you can paint them at your own pace. The painting process will be explained at the end of the workshop. Your pots won't be water-tight, so they're not suitable for food or drink, but you can still proudly display them at home & it's the perfect option if you’re looking for a one-off experience.
Art: Make, paint & fire a pot - This option includes not 1 but 2 workshops! After making your pots, we will keep them safe for you for up to 3-months. Your pots will need at least 1 week to dry then you'll be invited back to join a 1.5-hour painting workshop. These typically take place on Tues pm/Sat am. After painting, we will fire your pots twice in our kiln over an 18-hour period, reaching temperatures of up to 1220 degrees, a process that typically takes 2-3 weeks. Once fired you'll have up to 3-months to collect your masterpiece in person or opt for delivery (please note there is an extra charge for delivery). These fired pots are food-safe and can be safely used in both the oven and dishwasher.
Not only that, we are located at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London’s historic Docklands, featuring London’s only lighthouse and panoramic views of Canary Wharf, the Thames, and the O2, adding to the charm of your experience. You can explore the area for free, enjoy lunch at the Orchard Café, or pop over to Canary Wharf for drinks and dinner.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to embark on a pottery experience creating beautiful handmade pots & unforgettable memories! If you are looking for the perfect pottery date or some one-on-one time with friends, this workshop is an ideal choice.
