Stoneware, Not Earthenware

Stoneware, Not Earthenware

Most pottery tasters in London use earthenware clay — porous and suitable only for decoration. At Blanc Ceramic, we use stoneware, the same durable clay used by high-end restaurants. This means the piece you create here will not just be a souvenir, but a fully functional item — safe for daily use in the dishwasher, microwave, or even the oven.

In this London ceramics class, you’ll get hands-on experience with the pottery wheel, guided step-by-step by our skilled instructors. With plenty of support, you’ll learn essential pottery techniques and explore the therapeutic process of working with clay.
This 2-hours workshop is perfect for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. It’s a fun, creative way to relax, get messy, and make something truly personal.

  • 5/5 from Jas Chagger, attended Sep 2026: Such a great workshop! You get stuck in right away and get making from start to finish. Highly recommend
  • 5/5 from Moussa Al-Husseini, attended Sep 2026: We opted for the 2 hour session and it was very much worth it, the teachers were very good at what they do. They allow you to explore yourself and help you when you need it. Overall great experience.
  • 5/5 from Roshni Vekereya, attended Sep 2026: We had a great time and staff we’re lovely
  • 5/5 from Scarlett Hwang, attended Sep 2026: We thoroughly enjoyed our class. For a taster session, 2 hours was brilliant, as we were able to make 2 bowls and plates each while learning some basic techniques and getting the feel of the clay’s movement. Making the second piece felt a little rushed however, again, for a taster session, we could really immerse ourselves in the experience. Our teacher was friendly and gave each person (8 of us) attention and guidance. With firing and adding colours, the price goes up but it is understandable. The session itself was a great value for money, definitely worth it.
  • 5/5 from Heather Loebl, attended Aug 2026: Raymond was great. He took us through the process in manageable steps. I’ve never done pottery on a wheel before and I’m amazed how it wasn’t as difficult to make something as I thought it would be.
  • 5/5 from Yasfer Yousuf, attended Aug 2026: This class was great. We were instructed by Raymond. He was attentive, patient and really clear in his instructions. As a beginner we really appreciated.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jul 2026: My family and I had a great time. It was a unique anniversary present for my husband and I decided our daughters would love it too - and they did. It was lots of fun to get stuck in and make our own bowls and cups rather than just decorating pre-made ones.
  • 5/5 from Karin Cureton, attended Jul 2026: My sister and I had a two hour pottery throwing taster class. This was my birthday treat. So glad we attended. We had a wonderful time. Raymond, our teacher, who is very knowledgeable, explained and showed us the whole process. He was also very patient with us. I made a coffee cup and snack bowl and my sister made a mug and rice bowl. We enjoyed it so much, we are going to attend another taster class, so we don't forget what we were taught and then join the six week beginner class. The atmosphere of the studio is bright and relaxing. If you are thinking about doing pottery, I highly recommend Blanc Ceramics. Definitely give it a go. You will not be disappointed. We can't wait to see the end results of our creations. Thank you Raymond and co.
  • 5/5 from Samantha Williams, attended Jun 2026: Had a two hour class and was able to learn the basics to make a couple of items. The teacher was knowledgeable and very patient. The studio was lovely, bright and airy a warm, welcoming environment. Would highly recommend.
  • 5/5 from Alicia Eames, attended May 2026: Fantastic class! The teachers were really patient and helpful and even as a beginner I managed to make two lovely pieces to keep after. Unassuming location but the studio is lovely once you get inside. Will definitely come back.

  • 5/5 from Ashley Alphonso, attended May 2026: The teacher was very kind and informative. Her and the assistants were helpful during the unguided section with a lot of positive reinforcement. Defo something I would do again
  • 3/5 from Vanessa Ma, attended May 2026: Hi! The class was very good, however we only had one hour when we booked the workshop for two hours. Had only realised after we left xx
  • 5/5 from Terika Shah, attended Apr 2026: As first timers me and my friends enjoyed it quite well aswell as the teachers are very helpful even if they repeat themselves a lot of the times they never shout very professional we’ll be coming back soon!
  • 5/5 from Jamie Harmes, attended Mar 2026: thank you so much to you guys at the studio for our lesson on Wednesday, the class was fantastic! There was a brilliant atmosphere, very chill with some good laughs our teacher was amazing, we are hooked and can't wait to do it again already, thank you! Jamie and Helen
  • 5/5 from Asif Farhad, attended Mar 2026: Went with my wife as a birthday treat for her. Really fun and the teachers were super helpful. Booked a 2 hour class so was able to produce 2 pieces. Would recommend!
  • 5/5 from Christopher Rodwell-Shah, attended Mar 2026: We had a great afternoon with Wen and Raymond. It was easy to find, a short walk from North Acton station. The room was bright with natural light and calming music was played to create a wonderful space for learning the art of clay throwing. The class was full for the first hour where we went through the important steps of first preparing the clay before moulding into an item of our choosing. Wen gave us the instruction while Raymond was on hand to help us perfect the skills. The second hour the size of class halved and we were able to create a second piece, with a touch more bravado. The class was a lot of fun and I would highly recommend! If you want to grab a bite to eat before or after there is an excellent authentic Lebanese restaurant only 10 minutes by foot called the Terrace Garden.
  • 5/5 from Sofija Petkova, attended Mar 2026: Raymond was a great instructor, extremely helpful and patient. It was an amazing experience with such a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
  • 4/5 from Miss Alexandra Endersby, attended Mar 2026: The class was great, the first I’ve been to and my friend and I had a fab time. The instructor and the team were very friendly and informative, we’d definitely go back.
  • 5/5 from Kate Kotlarska, attended Feb 2026: We had a great experience, the teachers were very patient and allowed time to all participants. We were able to create 2 items in 2 hours and felt like have learned a lot in this time.
  • 5/5 from Gemma Brewer, attended Feb 2026: I absolutely loved the class. Raymond is a great teacher- very supportive, patient and understanding. I would have liked to make a vase but was informed it would be too difficult as a beginner but Raymond was flexible on what we could make. I was then able to make a candle stick holder with his help. I paid for 2 hours but could have spent all day at the wheel. I absolutely loved it.
  • 5/5 from James Bayani, attended Feb 2026: We had such a great time at this pottery workshop! The teachers were incredibly helpful from start to finish. Even though it was a medium‑sized group, they made sure everyone received plenty of 1‑on‑1 support whenever we needed it. Their guidance made the whole process feel approachable and fun. We got to try a variety of techniques, and I loved being able to experiment while still having expert help. Overall, a really enjoyable and well‑run class. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone curious about pottery!
  • 5/5 from James Cuttica, attended Feb 2026: The location was a little hard to find and parking is a challenge but we managed to arrive just on time. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Our teacher was really clear and helpful with instruction throughout which helped our creations look reasonable. Pottery is an enjoyable and rewarding pastime. Would definitely recommend a visit to Blanc Ceramic.
  • 5/5 from Fatuma Hasaballah, attended Feb 2026: I loved this class the teacher was very helpful and nice, I recommend this class if you want to learn a new skill.
  • 5/5 from Clare Hegarty, attended Jan 2026: We did the 2 hour pottery throwing class. It was BRILLIANT! Better than expected. The instructor was really great and made it seem easy. There was a lot of support and in the 2 hour class we got to be more independent and make a second piece (putting our newly acquired skills into practice). I would really recommend this activity
  • 5/5 from Chetan Hirani, attended Jan 2026: We had a wonderful experience at Blanc Ceramics. The studio has a calm, welcoming atmosphere and is beautifully set up, making it a pleasure to spend time there. The instructor was knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging, explaining techniques clearly while still giving everyone the freedom to explore their own ideas. Whether you’re complete beginners or have some experience, the class feels well-paced and supportive. We left feeling relaxed, inspired, and genuinely proud of what we made. We’d highly recommend Blanc Ceramics to anyone looking to try pottery or deepen their practice.
  • 5/5 from Ruby Smith, attended Jan 2026: Fabulous class with a brilliant teacher who made it feel relaxed but very informative and clear. We booked a two hour session and got to make a second piece, I would really recommend as a way to apply the things you learnt in the first hour but still under supervision from the teacher. Thank you!!

Blanc Ceramic is a small pottery studio in Park Royal, West London, 10 minutes' walk from North Acton station. We teach wheel throwing and hand-building to complete beginners and returning makers, in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Classes are small, the pace is unhurried. Come for an hour, or stay for a course.
Please read:
Glaze: glazes react in the kiln, so your piece can come out a little different from our glaze tests.
Cracks and breakage: a piece can crack or break in firing because of air bubbles in the clay or an uneven surface.
Pieces affected by glaze variation, cracks or breakage are non-refundable.
