Join us for a fun and creative ceramic painting and glazing workshop, where you'll transform a handmade mug into a colourful, one-of-a-kind piece to enjoy at home!
Painting pottery is easier than you might think! The trickiest part is often choosing your colours and patterns, so feel free to come along with a few ideas. Don't worry if you're stuck for inspiration, though. We'll demonstrate a variety of painting techniques and be on hand throughout to help bring your designs to life.
Unlike many pottery painting studios, here at Art Craft Studios, we make every mug by hand, not in a factory! This means you get to be part of the craftsmanship behind your very own ceramic mug.
Before picking up your paintbrush, you'll learn the art of fettling – smoothing rough edges, refining shapes and perfecting those little details that make handmade pottery special. You'll play a part in the making process, turning your mug into a beautifully finished piece, ready to decorate.
Once you've finished, your mug will stay with us for glazing and firing in our on-site kilns, reaching temperatures of up to 1200°C. After approximately 4–6 weeks, your unique, food-safe and fully functional mug will be ready to collect, take home and use with pride!

Knowledge required
You don't need to be creative or have any experience, pottery painting and glazing is a calming enjoyable process for everyone.
What to bring
Everything is supplied including an apron. It can get a little messy so please do not wear your best clothes.
Suitable for

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 16 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids (the adult may observe for free).

This experience would also be a unique gift for her, gift for mum, Xmas gift or gift for couples.

The teachers were friendly and had great enthusiasm throughout. They explained every step and showed us several techniques. All equipment is provided, all you have to do it turn up!   • 5/5 from Catarina, attended Aug 2024: The venue is at one of my favourite places in London, worth to go earlier to browse around as this wharf is full of little surprises and if you fancy arrive by uberboat, feel free. Amanda was great, she put me at ease and was really helpful explaining techniques etc At first I thought my project will get messy or I was being too ambitious but the great thing I have learnt about ceramic with Amanda is that the finishing are the most satisfying part of it and you can fix pretty much everything. You get to collect your own piece of art after a few weeks (the norm for the industry, as the process itself takes long so don't be surprised). Go for it.

Nevertheless we could do more than one piece but depends on time individual takes :) Overall it was a fun experience and would do it again.
