What you'll do
If you're keen to learn some new skills to create expressive and characterful decorations for your home, come along to this pottery glazing and painting class, where you'll learn to breathe life into blank pottery pieces and make them your own.
The best thing about this workshop is everyone starts with the same blank piece of pottery yet by the end, everyone has a unique piece of pottery full of personality.
Kicking off with a practical demonstration, your host will take you on a journey of glazing and pottery painting techniques (surprisingly there are a few).
You don't need to be creative or have any experience, pottery painting and glazing is a calming enjoyable process. The hardest thing is deciding what colours to choose.
Your host will provide everyone with a piece of pottery. You can choose from, a plant pot, bowl, or cup. Inspired by their demonstration, you can explore all the materials and tools they have to offer and be as detailed or as abstract as you like in your decoration. Discover a whole host of ideas for pottery painting with tips from your teacher.
Once you've decorated your pottery it will stay at the studio for firing. Firing is all done by your hosts on-site — their kilns go up to 12oo degrees so much hotter than your oven at home! At the beginning of the workshop, they'll also take you to see where the magic happens in their kiln room and explain how the firing process works make sure you arrive on time, as this is not to be missed.
After a few weeks, once fired, your unique pottery will be ready to collect and you can take it home to enjoy.

All the tools and materials required to paint/glaze a piece of pottery to take home.
What to bring
Everything is supplied including an apron. It can get a little messy so please do not wear your best clothes.
