Meet, Connect and Slow Down

Meet, Connect and Slow Down

We’ll introduce ourselves and explore how photography can help us become more present, curious and connected to our surroundings. I’ll share the philosophy behind Picture This and prepare you for your first photographic adventure.

Follow your Curiosity

Follow Your Curiosity

Head out with your phone camera and begin by photographing whatever naturally catches your attention. Through a series of playful photographic prompts you’ll experiment with different ways of looking and become more attuned to what you instinctively notice.

Notice what you Noticed

Notice What You Noticed

We’ll regroup, look through your photographs and reflect on what captured your attention. What did you photograph repeatedly? What surprised you? What became visible once you slowed down? Together, we’ll consider what these choices might reveal about the way you see the world.

Photograph with Intention

Photograph with Intention

Midway through the workshop, we’ll shift from noticing what naturally captures your attention to consciously choosing where to direct it. Guided by the question, What do you want to see more of in the world?

Curate your Perspective

Curate Your Perspective

Choose three to five photographs that feel as though they belong together. Look for recurring colours, subjects, feelings or ideas and notice what begins to emerge when the images sit beside one another.

Share what you See

Share What You See

We’ll come together to share our miniature photographic series. What connects your images? What do they reveal about how you see the world—and what did you want someone else to notice through your eyes?

Hey friends!
Join me for a photography walk through a surprise corner of London. Bring your smartphone and a little curiosity; no experience needed.
We’ll start with playful prompts that get you looking twice. Follow a colour, chase an interesting shape, photograph a detail you might usually walk past. What keeps catching your eye? There’s no perfect picture to take—just room to explore how you see.
Halfway through, we’ll explore a new question: What do you want to see more of in the world? You’ll head out again and take photographs with that thought in mind.
At the end, we’ll look through what you’ve found. You’ll choose three to five images that belong together and, if you’d like, share what you noticed. You’ll leave with a miniature photographic series and a way to make even a familiar walk feel new.
Each workshop takes place in a different London location. I’ll email you the meeting point and weather details 48 hours beforehand.
See you there!

Hi! I’m Latoya Shaw, a multidisciplinary conceptual artist working across photography, film, writing and object-based art.
When I moved from Los Angeles to London a year ago, photography became how I got to know the city. It got me out of the house, following my curiosity and noticing all the little details that give a place its character.
I created Picture This to share that feeling with you. It’s a playful, mindful approach to photography—less about taking the “perfect” picture and more about slowing down, exploring and discovering what catches your eye.
And for those of you looking for qualifications: I hold a BFA from the University of Southern California, studied at ArtCenter College of Design and completed a Creative Direction for Fashion Media programme at UAL: London College of Fashion. So yes, we’ll be playful—but you’re in very capable hands!
