Why a London paint and sip class should be your next night out with friends

You don’t have to be the next Pollock or Picasso to get involved in one of our London painting classes. Anyone can pick up the brushes, from complete newbies to those with some painting skills already up their sleeves – ClassBento’s teachers guide you step by step, so no question is too silly. Whether you’re capturing Van Gogh’s starry night, painting your partner at a couples session in Battersea, or bringing along photos for a pet portrait class in Tower Gateway, there's a paint and sip for everyone.

Why should you sign up for a paint and sip night? Here are five reasons:

1. You'll learn new brushstrokes and keep something fun. From lively neon paint parties under blacklight in Islington to calmer BYOB watercolour sessions in Battersea, every class offers a different artistic journey.
2. It removes the intimidation of a blank canvas. Your teacher breaks the design down into simple, achievable steps, so complete beginners can keep pace with seasoned painters.
3. The 'sip' part gets the conversation flowing. Whether you bring your own bottle or sip a welcome drink on arrival, a glass in hand swaps a quiet studio for a proper night out.
4. You'll love seeing everyone's different style. Even from the same reference picture, no two canvases look the same by the end of the night.
5. You leave with a handmade souvenir for your wall. Unlike a standard night at the pub, you walk away with an actual piece of art – a permanent reminder of the evening.

Affordable paint and sip nights in London from £20

You don't need a big budget for a great night out. Across London, from Shoreditch to Woolwich, independent artists run brilliant paint and sip sessions starting from just £20 at the Freestyle Sip and Paint Class in Shoreditch – proof that quality tuition and a proper social night don't have to cost a fortune.

Here's what's included at this price point:

• A canvas or surface to take home. Whether it's a classic stretched canvas or a themed surface, you'll leave with a finished piece to hang on your wall.
• Full use of professional art supplies. Paints, brushes, aprons and easels are all provided, so there's nothing extra to buy.
• Step-by-step guidance from a local artist. Your teacher breaks the design into simple stages, so total beginners can keep pace with confident painters.
• A drink to sip as you go. Some classes include a welcome drink, others run on a BYOB basis with little or no corkage – check the listing before you book.

Add it up against buying your own paints, canvas and drinks at the pub, and a £20-£30 sip and paint session stacks up well against a standard night out.

The top benefits of paint and sip classes in London in 2026

A paint and sip class in London mixes relaxation with a proper night out – no art degree required. Here's what you get:

• It's a real stress reset, not just a class. Focusing on brushwork and colour naturally quiets a busy week, and there's a money-back guarantee if you're not happy with the session.
• No two canvases look the same, and that's the point. Everyone starts from the same reference, so it's a low-pressure way to compare styles and laugh at the results.
• It's a break from perfection, not a pursuit of it. These classes are designed to be playful, so a wobbly brushstroke is part of the fun, not a failure.
• It scales for any group. Whether you’re booking an outdoor paint picnic in Trafalgar Square for a hen do, or a team bonding paint and sip in Mayfair for work colleagues, groups of all sizes are welcome.
• Every booking gives back. ClassBento donates 50p to Mental Health UK with each paid booking, so your night out supports mental wellbeing too.

How to find a sip n paint studio in London that's right for you

Whether you're after a classic sip n paint London night out or something with more of an edge, here's how to pick the studio that's right for you – because not every London paint night looks the same.

• Check the drinks and BYOB policy first. Some studios, like Aura Lab’s BYOB Sip and Paint Experience in Hammersmith, let you bring your own bottle with little or no corkage; others include a welcome drink instead.
• Look at the featured painting style. Options range from a classic Van Gogh or Matisse-inspired canvas to neon blacklight paint in Islington or spray-can techniques in Whitechapel.
• Match the studio vibe to your occasion. A weekday evening slot suits a quiet, focused session, while weekend parties lean loud and social – perfect for a hen do or birthday.
• Check the group size and private hire options. For a corporate event or milestone birthday, look for classes offering exclusive venue hire.
