One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1   £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Lynne Halton, attended Oct 2026: Maria was an excellent teacher. We learnt new things regarding our sewing machine and general tips for making projects. I would definitely recommend doing this for anyone with a new sewing machine or wants to know more. She also taught us how to put in a zip and do buttons.
  • 5/5 from Gemma Widdowfield, attended Oct 2026: I had a fantastic sewing lesson with Kate at Hobbycraft today and couldn’t recommend her enough! Kate took the time to show me a variety of sewing machines and, after discussing what I wanted to use one for, helped me choose the perfect machine for my needs. She was incredibly knowledgeable and explained the different features, stitches and uses in a way that was easy to understand. We then sat down together, and she patiently showed me how to use my new machine, including how to make buttonholes, which I found really interesting! Kate was so warm, friendly and approachable, and she made the whole experience enjoyable. I came away feeling much more confident and excited to get started with my sewing. I’ll definitely be booking another lesson with Kate once I’ve had some time to practise and feel ready to start making my own clothes and other projects from patterns. I would absolutely recommend booking a lesson with Kate. She really knows her stuff, and I’m so glad I booked with her!
