What to expect:

  • 3/5 from Miriam Rudge, attended May 2025: Beautiful soaps and great teacher but I wasn’t told until I arrived that the soaps contained almond oil and their was no warning ahead of time to this effect. I’m allergic to nuts and they tried to tell me it would be safe for me to use them even once I told them this. I told them it wouldn’t because I know I get reactions to nuts when used topically in cosmetic products but they shouldn’t be telling nut allergy sufferers that nut products are safe to use on their skin when anaphylaxis UK‘s guidance is for all nut allergy sufferers to avoid nuts in skin and cosmetic products to be on the safe side in avoiding allergic reactions. I was also disappointed the soaps weren’t packaged up in something sturdier than newspaper for transport. The colours, moulds, essential oils, glitters and petals available were great though and the staff were friendly, helpful & expert. The other issue was that the soap making was up a set of stairs and I have mobility issues, so please do be aware if you’re booking with any mobility issues that it’s not a disabled accessible venue (but I hadn’t checked for this on this occasion unusually before booking - I forgot to do so - so that wasn’t their fault).

She was not very friendly and seemed defensive whenever we asked questions. I had clearly mentioned we only needed supplies for my 8-year-old niece, yet we felt as though we were being scrutinized, almost as if we were taking advantage of the course. For example, while everyone else received boxes to take their soaps home, we did not. After waiting for 15 minutes, I asked the instructor if we should pack them ourselves or if she would do it. She responded curtly, “Do you want me to pack it for you?” which felt rude. Later, I noticed her packing soaps for the table next to ours. It would be helpful if the organizers addressed these issues or reconsidered allowing children to attend if they are not prepared to handle it properly. Despite the negative vibes, my niece and I still managed to enjoy the activity.

I booked a class for 13 people after being told that it would be private for groups of 12 and more over two months ahead of time. We were running late, tried to call multiple times to notify them to no avail. Once we arrived we were told our "private" class had started without us as they booked another 2 people on to it. While I appreciate that we were 20 minutes late, and we would have been fine with the deduction in class time, how can a class that was meant to be private start without us? Eve, our guardian angel, helped us swap to a pottery painting class instead. However, even the materials for this class were subpar. I have used glazes for ceramics before and I've never seen such watered down paint in my life. Avoid this studio and their classes at all costs.

Token Studio was created in 2012 in Fulham, London. We have been successfully running art, craft and music workshops since and have hosted thousands of exciting events like birthday parties, hen parties and corporate events. In 2019, the studio fully upgraded to a fantastic creative space located in Tower Bridge.
The studio was created by Jing, a designer with an MA from Chelsea College of Art and Design. Jing has previously worked as an associate designer with Zaha Hadid architects and also has experience working within education. She believes the combination of her industry knowledge and the use of all-natural ingredients and recyclable materials makes her workshops one of the best in the country!
Token studio's philosophy is not just limited to crafts but is also about showing others how to live more sustainably by being more creative and producing less waste. Learning fun ways of creating everyday products is an experience full of joy and inspiration that anyone can enjoy!
