  • Felting mat (£7)
  • 1 x extra needle (£1)
You can add these when you book (optional).

Knowledge required
Suitable for beginners. No knowledge or skills needed.

What you'll get in your craft kit
  • 5" x 8" rectangle of felt which will form the jacket of the needle case.
  • Two rectangles of pre-felt.
  • A handful of gorgeous wool to decorate the case.
  • Felting needle (plus a spare).
  • Finger protector.
  • Full instructions.
What you'll need
Please bring a household item to use as a felting mat. Something that can be used as a soft surface. This is because you will poke the needle through the wool and felt and need a soft surface to absorb the needle if /when it pops through the back of the felt. For example, a piece of foam a sponge or even recycle an old pillow.

Suitable for

An adult must be present whilst kid(s) engage with the box.

This would also be a unique gift for her, gift for mum or birthday gift.

Your teacher

Designing projects from my home studio near the market town of Louth in the Lincolnshire Wolds means I work and live just a few miles from the farm where I was born, and where I worked as an animal portrait artist throughout my twenties.

When I get into a new Kit design my German Shepherd, Dixie, makes sure I get out into the countryside for some healthy exercise and headspace.

Of course, conversations with my lovely customers influence my design choices as I research needle felting kits and other products to excite and please them. The classes I run are a great opportunity to get customer insights and make new friends.

The Impressionists influence my painting style hugely and the clever paint colourists at Farrow & Ball are an excellent resource when it comes to choosing colours. (Especially on a Monday morning!)

As for the animals and landscapes in my designs my inspiration is a healthy mix romantic styles, Naive art and the 1930's art books by Diana Thorne collected and treasured by mother when she was a child.
