Learn fundamental hand-building techniques as you create a stunning ceramic wabi-sabi object from scratch. Your teacher will provide demonstrations and cover how you can use clay to deal with the stress and anxiety of everyday life and appreciate the states of flux and imperfection represented in your piece. You'll learn a range of pottery techniques including coil pots, sculpting & surface decoration across the wabi-sabi theme. Now, let's explore your options:Craft: Make pottery - With air-dry clay, you can make & take your pottery home right away. Once dry, you can paint them at your own pace and proudly display them in your home. Please note, this pottery is not suitable for food or drink, but they make for beautiful decorations.Art: Make & fire pottery - You'll have a choice of fired clay options including black clay, white clay, red clay and lava clay (depending on what's available on the day). After making your pottery, it will stay with us for firing in the kiln up to 1200 degrees and we will glaze them shiney. You can collect up to 6-weeks later. This fired pottery is food-safe and suitable for use in the oven and dishwasher. (Please note: If you book post the 13th Dec your pottery will take a little longer due to the holiday season.) Whether you choose the art or craft option, this pottery-making workshop offers a fun and creative activity for all.
