Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Emma was very professional in her teaching. Very welcoming and polite.
She answered all are questions and showed us how to get more from our machine, to produce items for my sons wedding.
She also was able to tell us how to get more usage out of our vinyl paper.
The class was of excellent value.
The one to One was great as we focused only on the machine I have at home.

Attended a one to one sewing lesson today, my teacher was Jackie she was brilliant!
Showed me basic sewing skills such as threading, bobbin winding, tension, stitching length and more.

We even mastered smocking and pleats!

I’m super pleased and loved my lesson.

Highly recommend a one to one with Jackie. She’s very knowledgeable and helpful and will be in touch again for another lesson in my hour of need!

The host was friendly and made us feel comfortable. But on other workshops I've been too they were a little more helpful and participated more. Also I didn't think there were many different materials, so the children left with pretty similar bonnets, colours and items.

A lesson for my granddaughter to learn to set up and use her new sewing machine. Her teacher, Jackie, was really patient and gave her the opportunity to have a go to set the machine herself. We really enjoyed the lesson and it was invaluable in building confidence to use her new sewing machine. Great value for money and highly recommend.

The facilitator was very good-once she turned up. I was waiting at the venue for 5 minutes before the workshop and several minutes after scheduled start. At this point I had to wait for a member of staff at the till who said I'll try to get X, but I don't know of she's got a radio. This was having also looked for a member of staff before waiting at the table in hope. When she arrived, she was very knowledgeable and friendly. Materials were good and I've enjoyed continuing to practice at home.

The kids did the paper mache pumpkins over half term and loved it. The girl leading the session was lovely and so helpful. Hobbycraft provided all the materials the kids could possibly need. I love these craft session for the kids, this is the second one we have done. Might try an adult one next time

Ellie and Becca we're helpful and friendly. The materials were set out readily accessible. We were pleased with the materials and demonstration. My sons set to work immediately crafting an orange pumpkin and a spider topped pumpkin, both with googly eyes. Great value for money, both boys asked to go again.

We loved that she encouraged my son to make something that wasn’t on the official making list.
It was easy enough for my 5 year old to follow but engaging enough for my 8 year old too.
We didn’t feel rushed even though we ran over.
Great value for money as I used a voucher I was sent online to pay for one child.

Emma has a natural aptitude for explaining often difficult points to put over. I needed this as I was starting with nil knowledge about sewing machines.!
She told me that machines need two threads one from the spool reel and another from a bobbin which is loaded with thread from the spool on top,
and there are two types of bobbin loading systems bottom and top.
The demo m/c was bottom and of course mine is top ! . Emma went off and found a machine similar to my own and we went from there ie Nothing was too much trouble. I intend to book two more follow-up sessions and I think your one-2-one lessons are excellent value. Jack

My tutor made me feel as ease. I was having trouble with my new Hobby craft 100s sewing machine and she took the time to talk me through different things that effect the working of a machine. She spent an age to get things right for me which wasn't an easy task.

I booked this activity for my children to spend 1 hour participating in a canvas painting class and in total the class was 10 minutes long. I spoke to the activity leader about my surprise for this and she didn’t seem interested. In future we will buy our own canvas and paint at home as it felt a bit pointless doing such a a short class.

I enjoyed this Workshop, myself & a friend booked a private class (available for 2-5 people) which was good. We were provided with a Hobbycraft Acrylic Paint Pouring Kit (which included practise canvas mats), a pack of Ceramic Coasters & a Cotton Canvas Bag to carry it home in - this was all great value for money. Our teacher was friendly - a couple of times she started pouring her paint ahead of explaining what she was doing, so felt slightly rushed and had to catch up. We practised on two sample boards (you collect these a couple of days later once dried). This is a messy craft but enjoyed doing the workshop. The only downside was I wished it could of been slightly longer due to the time it takes to get the paint mixed and applied/moving/coated on each mat, but luckily YouTube will be my research friend!

The teacher Emma was excellent and knowledgeable.
However, we had to drive 15 miles and by the time we found Hobbycraft we needed to use the toilet. You could not accommodate us with staff toilets for health and safety reasons which was inconvenient as my daughter had to go and find toilet to use. There are no public toilets on the retail park, so had to rely on other shop retailers to accommodate us. That is my only complaint. If I had to do another workshop and it was longer than an hour would be very difficult. Especially for people with limited mobility.

We were unhurried and accompanied by staff member for the duration who had ideas; but we had preplanned our own design and she was happy to accommodate it with resources. However the resources were in short supply and we couldn't do a rainbow exactly as planned so it was disappointing that staff hadn't allowed enough in their stock for our class. She compensated this with a spare blank crown to make an additional one at home though. We were pleased with our achievement though and it fitted well and will survive the parade we think! An enjoyable class!

Took my 4 year old grandson to Yeovil Hobbycraft for the pot making class. He came away with several different projects adorned with letters and jewels. Half an hour was plenty long enough for his age. He is looking forward to painting them today now they have dried after several days.
The lady running the course was very patient and had a great attitude towards the children. Money well spent!

Attended the Acrylic paint pouring course at Yeovil Hobbycraft with my adult daughter. It was great fun. A full kit of paints, practice canvases, a mounted canvas and tools provided as a kit and you get to keep it all. We tried 3 different techniques. The staff were professional, helpful
and friendly. Definitely recommended!

There was 2 of us there both had different. Machines. Mine was working ok, the other machine wasn't so I had to wait for it to be sorted out. As it was to get to know your machine and mine is brand new I would have preferred to have instruction on mine as when I got home and the tension isn't right all the time, and do not know how to correct it .

I bought this for my Mum for Christmas and she loved it.
Opening the box was like another present (although the packaging was a bit excessive in this recycling age) All materials required were inside, our tutor was welcoming and friendly, putting her three students at ease and assisting when required and we all came away with a lovely plant holder after a very pleasant afternoon. Thank you would definitely do other workshops.

The set up was lovely, fabulous teacher as always, the only reason that this one is ‘good’ and not ‘great’ is that this isn’t one that could be completed in the session as the PVA glue doesn’t dry quickly enough. The accessories slid off getting them home, as well as being very sticky and difficult to transport. We also needed more work at home to look good. All the children in the group needed adult help to get their Santa’s ‘hat’ to stick as the pom-poms slid off too easily. But it was fun and gave ideas for how to complete some future craft projects at home. Will not deter me from booking more sessions and as always my child loved it - mainly as the staff are always so friendly and encouraging. Thank you Hobbycraft

Teacher Georgina was amazing, especially with our 4 year old who can be a bit of a monkey! She was brilliant with him and it was lovely to see him so engaged with an adult he didnt know.
The activity was great and she had loads of ideas of different things the kids could make with the pipe cleaners.
We have always had a brillant experience with the hobby craft activities and have a few more booked over Christmas.

The staff member giving this class was pleasant and friendly but I don’t think I would pay £5 and travel the distance again for similar. It might be better if Hobbycraft had a set plan/ syllabus and perhaps a handout covering the basics.

Our teacher, Nicky, was very helpful. We were shown all the basic details and starting to use the sewing machine and given plenty of encouragement and advice about using different setting's etc. The price of this course was very reasonable. Would definitely book another course on the strength of this.

Was good and we had fun. Just needed more variety of things to make in it.
When i read kids tree decorations workshop i thought it would just be a mixture of different tree decorationa but what it actually means is you just make trees out of wooden sticks and pipe cleaners which is fun and cute but takes two mins to make and my toddler then wanted to make something else
Hasnt put me off though, we will be back again for a different one maybe in the new year

We would come back to do another craft as there was no pressure on time or being too tidy.

Really good session, enjoyable and learnt new techniques too. Appropriate for beginner although tricky to complete in time allotted as I was too slow at crochet to get to the construction part! However received great guidance to complete at home and managed it easily. Have made a second one to prove I could do it from start to finish without any help. Love these mini courses. Thank you.

We went on a Cricut 3 beginners Workshop. We don’t have a machine yet but wanted to see exactly how they worked etc before buying.
Our “teacher” was superb and I cannot rate her highly enough. Her knowledge of the machine was excellent, she took the time to answer all our questions and showed us what an amazing machine it was. I shall definitely be going in to buy one

We booked crown making at Yeovil which is about 40mins for us but we are between two. A lovely lady teacher, didn’t catch her name. Very happy, smiley, chatty which was appreciated as welcomed my two girls into the craft session well. Nice active craft area, double tables and chairs all around. I booked for myself and two daughters. Great value for money, lots of sparkly bits, pom-poms, glitter glue, scissors, had a choice of pre-cut cold shimmer card or make our own cut out.
For £5 and 30mins of the resources we had my 6yo thought it was great. Smiles all round.

A simple class to decorate cardboard crown with stick on jewels and sparkly shapes. My son was offered his own space to relax in to get started and a demo was provided. He embraced the idea and loved to take it home.

I can’t really see what else could be taught or demonstrated in the hour given, it’s something that requires lots of practice. Overall I was happy with my experience.

I had a one to one Cricut lesson.
The lesson was really good the lady explained a lot that has helped me.
I feel that it would have been a lot better if it was in a smaller area to one side of the shop floor and seating, luckily the shop was not over busy at the time, but if other people need help they ask the assistant that is with you and you have payed for the help?
However that didn’t happen and I have learnt quite a bit. The value was good,

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our brush lettering course, hosted by Nicky. The materials provided were fantastic, we both felt thoroughly spoiled, and it was lovely to be able to take our goodie box home so we can continue with our new hobby. Nicky was wonderful - friendly, kind, funny and patient. She explained the process clearly and answered all our questions comprehensively. There were only the two of us on the course so we had plenty of opportunities to ask anything we needed to, although most of the time we were too busy concentrating on making our letters look something like the examples. Nicky was clearly very experienced and produced excellent script. She suggested we practice our brush lettering daily, explaining that if we did this our technique would be sure to improve. The venue in Hobbycraft Yeovil was ideal, we would probably have gone to Taunton if the course had been run there, as Taunton is closer to home, but the travelling was worth it. We both thought this course was excellent value for money and have already recommended it to family and friends. Thank you.

Sarah at Yeovil store very friendly, patient & good at explaining. We made something personal for my daughter who’s disabled - materials provided. Sarah talked/walked me through each stage & I took notes. She had lots of tips & helpful hints. We had a lovely big workspace upstairs. I’ll be going back in New Year for Infusible Ink workshop. Sarah & all Yeovil staff are very helpful & friendly. Definitely recommend & good value for money as many private workshops are very expensive for those on a budget. £15 an hour at Hobbycraft very good price for one to one.

This was excellent value for money and very easy to follow. If you are doing this at home what should have been stated is that the base that comes in the little package of decorations is discarded otherwise the light would not shine through. I did this class along with a friend last weekend on a brilliant zoom call. I enjoyed it so much that I booked another instore class today. Unfortunately, I wasn't very well today so asked to pick the box up and take it home. The girls in the shop (Yeovil) could not have been more helpful. Very pleased.

My teacher had everything set out & obviously knew all about the machine that she was demonstrating.
I would highly recommend a workshop.
The only downside was that because we were on the shop floor, we did get interrupted by customers needing help in the store.

The venue was good with plenty of parking.
The teacher was very pleasant, I was the only participant so the one to one teaching was a bonus! She was encouraging and helpful with suggestions, but let me get on with it, which I prefer.
Value wise I thought it was a bit expensive, nicely presented box but the contents were basic.
I enjoyed the experience, I'm pleased with the Autumn Wreath I made but would think twice about paying £35 for a similar workshop.

Georgie was absolutely fantastic. She went above and beyond to answer all my questions no matter how silly some of them may have been and also showed me a few extra bits to help me.
I’d have happily paid twice the amount for the information I came away with.
She also helped me choose some extra bits to use, so I’m armed with plenty to get on with and keep crafting.

An excellent one-to-one session which was both informative and fun, for a rather nervous first time sewing machine user. A very helpful young lady, Emma, showed me how to use my sewing machine, answered my questions, and gave me much more confidence to come away and try out different things with it. She was also able to give advice on accessories, such as different sized needles and the best type of thread, and it was very useful holding the workshop in store so I could purchase any extras I needed there.

Emma and the staff were absolutely fantastic! Really easy to talk to and get on with! Emma knew all of her skills from the cricut from being self taught and learning herself through youtube videos.

Few niggly things, unfortunately the booking system isnt great, I booked on the monday for wednesday and the yeovil store wasnt aware of me attending the 121 on wednesday. This however was not the staffs fault as the system hadnt notified them, there was no one available for wednesday, they were super efficient and got me booked in for the next day.
The open space where your craft is lovely, loalthough any customer can come along and inturupt which happened a couple of times.
