Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Sally explained really well on how to use each thing for the sewing machine and I managed to fit in abit of learning to sew towards the end but we ran out of time. Really happy with the session but would liked to have had abit more learning doing it hands on so maybe extend time sessions

It was very informative and Sarah- Jane sure knows her stuff. Great help to be able to use maker space and what we can and can’t do with the program.
My only criticism is the lack of chairs and the fact that when I have done workshops before we were upstairs around the table.

We enjoyed the class and the kids are very proud of their clay figures. However, we felt that the clay colours should have been better chosen and not re-used probably from previous classes. It’s very good value for money but we still don’t want to feel that savings are tried to be made by re-using previous material.

Very valuable experience. I learnt a great deal about all aspects of the cricut. My teacher was wonderful! Answered all my questions with ease and offered many time saving tips and techniques to incorporate. Very grateful to her. The venue was great, easy access to all the cricut products and tools so I could view them. The main topics we covered was how to use the cricut with many different materials and tools, as well as extensively viewing and utilising Design Space to put projects together. And how to problem solve different scenarios. Well worth the cost! Thank you to my amazing teacher I am truly grateful for all the knowledge you have shared. Can’t wait to get creating!

We've just home from the easter bonnet craft session. The girls thoroughly enjoyed it and the bonnets look great! Kate was absolutely amazing, made the session really fun and encouraged each child to go along with their own artistic thoughts and unique ideas. This was my first go at making a wreath and as I am not a natural crafter I wasn't sure how the workshop would go for me. I needn't have worried, tutor Sue put me at ease and encouraged me to just go for it. I was thrilled with my wreath which was truly all my own work and held its own against the ones made by the more able crafters. A friendly and relaxing class.

I booked the class having finally taken the plunge and treated myself to a sewing machine, I hadn’t used one since leaving school. The class was great just what I needed, Sally was calm, relaxed and easy to follow nothing was rushed her instructions were easy to understand, she demonstrated everything and made sure I was clear before continuing. She explained everything and was happily to go back if I was unsure, the pace was just right and I didn’t feel overwhelmed by facts. Sally showed me the different stitches my machine could do, explained about different needles for different materials and jobs, also about possible problems I might have and looking for causes and solutions. The hour flew by and was great I learnt so much and I was a great introduction to my machine, it’s capabilities and she gave me ideas for projects which I wouldn’t find too hard initially. She also gave me ideas to look out for on the internet from the Hobbycraft website and some troubleshooting tools and ideas. I came away feeling more confident and comfortable about exploring my sewing machine by myself. So a huge thank you to Sally at the Oxford Hobbycraft. I’ll definitely do my classes and see if anymore come up to help with future projects.

My 11 year old has wanted a sewing machine and we were thrilled when Hobbycraft offered a 1-2-1 workshop. She is an absolute beginner, and Sally was amazing with her. Sally was friendly and patient, gave great practical advice, and even took the time to walk us around to give us her thoughts on different products that she’s personally found useful as an experienced sewing machine user. We had an hour with Sally this afternoon. Sally was wonderful - we were complete beginners and she was patient, answered a ton of questions about how the machines differ, and my partner got lots of hands on practice setting up the machine and trying out different stitches. Sally also talked us through the various machines they sell in store. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone unsure about whether to take up sewing or how to choose a first sewing machine.

Matt was an excellent tutor. I explained and requested my needs and all were fulfilled. Having not touched a sewing machine for 49 years ago l was a little nervous. All my nerves disappeared as Matts tutoring style was. All slow, very explanatory and most importantly made sure l could do basic r task and gave encouragement. The area to sit was fine as l was totally absorbed in the lesson so much so l bought machine and that night had no problem whatsoever ever using it, re- threading bobbins , changing needles etc. Excellent value for money and an excellent tutor. I would definitely recommend and l thoroughly enjoyed it.

A great and fun workshop for kids in anticipation of Halloween! Kids were required to use a few techniques to create their mystical creatures, and the instructor was great at helping them out. The workshop allowed for expression of creativity, and all kids seemed very happy about what they had done!

This was a workshop that unleased children's creativity - all kids made beautiful canvases that were so unique and different. My daughter had great fun mixing and experimenting with colours and shapes. The teacher was great at communicating with kids, helping them describe what they were doing and extending their creative ideas further. We really like the teacher and the whole atmosphere in the Oxford shop.

Kate was a super workshop teacher! We booked a beginners crochet workshop for 1.5 hours, and ended up being a group of three which was great for learning and having Kate able to help us so intently!
My daughter who is only 8 years old got the just of it very quickly and was crocheting like a pro within the hour! I specifically booked the workshop for her and I because I love a little bit of homecrafting but (and this is a BIG BUT), I have no patience to teach my poor daughter! So it was a treat to do something together and for me to brush up on my skills!

This is our second one to one with Sarah Jane and she was brillaint.

Very friendly and full of knowledge about all the aspects of Cricut (specifically targeted at design space and Iron on Vinyl this time at our request).

I went to store today feeling lost about the things that were not going right in my projects, and left feeling alot more hopeful and with new knowledge as well as things to try and groups to join that I didn't know of beforehand! I hope after this session, going forward I can implement the changes and get better results! Thank you Sarah Jane :)

This class was brilliant! Kate led a great session as always :) Hannah, and Nanny who tagged along on this one, really enjoyed making keyrings and Hannah especially loved getting to spell out her name on her second keyring. I actually liked mine enough to put it on my bag.
We were given enough time to finish our crafts which was brilliant as bringing home unfinished projects doesn’t always lead to them being completed ! Kate was fantastic with Hannah as always but also with Nanny who thought she could get away with just watching but Kate got her joining in which was a highlight as she ended up getting quite into it, concentrating and making an effort to have the beads match and run symmetrically. Will definitely bring Nanny with us again in future! Hannah asked I add: Hello! See you on the 7th! x

We’re always pleased to have Kate as our teacher. She’s great! She’s really good with Hannah and always goes above and beyond to be fair and inclusive and to make sure everyone has everything they need and ultimately is having a good time.
There was a good range of craft supplies to pick from and Hannah had a lot of fun making herself a rainbow. We always enjoy visiting the shop, the staff are lovely, helpful and friendly and are so good with Hannah. She’s already buzzing with excitement about her next class on Friday!

Great activity for a 10th birthday party. The teacher was encouraging and coped well with six excitable girls and the occasional testing of the boundaries! Everyone was pleased with the end result, though some of us wished we'd stuck the masking tape down more firmly.

My teacher, gave me some very useful sewing tips such as what needle and what thread to use. She also showed me how to spool a bobbin. The material I wish to sew is challenging and needs a lot of practice. Therefore I decided to persevere with my Hobbycraft Midi machine for the time being. However, I might well find in future that an upgrade to a better machine may be necessary, and I shall not hesitate to remember Hobbycraft.

Sally was a fantastic teacher as always at todays class. Hannah loves her and Sally made it extra special for her at every turn as always. Hannah really enjoys her trips to Hobbycraft for the fun kids workshops at the Oxford branch but what she comes away most happy about (alongside the goodies we’ve undoubtedly just bought) are getting to interact with the wonderful staff she is so fond of! We regularly come to hobbycraft Oxford and always have a great time. This was no exception. The children had fun making canvases using a variety of materials. Sarah jane from the Botley branch was amazing. She allowed me to ask questions as we went along and went into detail about everything, from the actual machine to using design space. I came away feeling a lot more confident about tackling a project. Sarah jane demonstrated how to upload a svg and layer it outside of Design space. At the end Sarah Jane discussed with me how to use the offset option before printing on the machine to show me how two colours would layer together. I would definitely consider booking a one to one workshop again . Thank you so much

Kate’s a fab teacher and it was a fun class. Kates great with Hannah who has autism and global delay She helps keep her engaged in the activity brilliantly. The materials came in a kit you can buy in store which is convenient as Hannah likes to make the exact same project at home and will otherwise search high and low for everything used in the class so having it all in a buyable kit was really useful. Will definitely keep coming back!

The whole event was a great way to relax and spend and hour which went far too fast. Sarah Jane was knowledgeable and there for support and to answer any questions and problems as well as giving suggestions. The venue is easy to access with plenty of parking, having the workshop means you are out of the way of shoppers so not blocking any access or ways round as well as being out of the public gaze if you really make a mess, which none of us did. A really great morning and great value, plus a unique door wreath which will go on for a number of years.

Everyone had a hat but there were very few decorations that were Easter themed. One bag opened was jungle theme and very out of place. I appreciate that craft supplies are not cheap. But considering there were 5 paying attendees that was £40 total for the group. I could have got my child more supplies that were definitely easter related for the £8 fee. Very poor experience indeed.

Excellent wreath making class. Sue B was our very friendly and helpful class leader. The box provided was perfect for a starter like me. Everything there that you needed to produce a really attractive wreath. The four members of the class all produced such lovely but different wreaths all using the same equipment. It was great to chat while we worked and passing shoppers were also interested in our crafting. A thoroughly enjoyable session.

I had no idea what to expect from this course or what the brush lettering involved, however it was a great start and inside into a new craft for me. I was the only person on the course the instructor was a great help and very patient with my lack of knowledge. The writing was very like italics which I did at school, however the brush wasn't like my pen! The whole process felt quite strange but my the end of the session it was more natural this was definitely down to the patience of my instructor. I went home and kept up the practice so now I'm more confident and use it on cards and labels.
The kit and the location were as always first rate, the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. I can't wait to do my next course. Thanks for your knowledge and patience.

We were offered a craft different from the advertisement, still for tree decoration but different, and we weren't given any choice at the beginning. The workshop was advertised for above 3, but the two 3 years old were bored after 20 mins and there was no alterative craft for them to do, or any other activity to entertain them a little. In the workshops that we have been, there are normally a variety of things to do, especially for the younger ones.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting Sally who gave just the right amount of technique and freedom to do my own design.

It was my first time using a glue gunso that was really usefulto learn the little tips of getting it right.

The shop was busy as it always is but that does not detract from concentration or enjoyment.

The Hobbycraft workshop kit box was generously filled with plenty of material and 8 fillable baubles. I did go and buy several more little figurines before I left. I decided to make one good item and finish the rest at home, rather than rush through a lot of things that I wouldn't be happy with.

It was a lovely way to create a little bit of Christmas spirit and a bit of fun!

My 5 year old granddaughter really enjoyed the workshop and was very excited about the cards she had made. The lady running the event motivated the participants for the whole time suggesting things they could do and sending them away with some of the materials that were left at the end of the hour enabled my granddaughter to demonstrate the card making skills to her parents. The event was excellent value and I will be looking out for future workshops to take her to.

My tutor was waiting when I arrived and made me feel very welcome. She was lovely and very patient with me. The teaching area was at the back of the shop, upstairs. The materials were very high quality and although I liked the pre-printed letter guide sheets, I would have liked a more common and simpler font on them to learn from as a complete beginner. In addition to learning all the foundation strokes, my tutor gave me lots of tips and information where I could gain further knowledge and progress my practice. I really enjoyed my experience over all, and felt it was worth every penny. The time went super quickly, but I was left enthused and confident to continue progressing with this craft. I will be back for other workshops in the near future.

My husband and I really enjoyed attending the bauble marbling session! The teacher guiding the marbling was very friendly and easy to talk to. Everything was setup beforehand, so we were able to get stuck in straight away! All the supplies we needed were provided for us which was great. We found the marbling process very fascinating and addictive, with each bauble looking unique. We now have plenty of baubles to gift out to family! We would definitely recommend signing up if you want to try something new before fully committing to a new hobby!

My girls had the Mache Pumpkins workshop in Oxford today. Kat was very helpful and funny. She taught the girls to use colourful tissue paper and glue to decorate. The course was 6 pounds per head . I checked on the hobbycraft website, the mache Pumpkins costs more than 6 pounds. It is the second time the girls have lessons at Hobbycraft. We will come back next time for the Christmas workshop. We had a wonderful time at the pumpkin decoupage workshop the other day. Sarah Jane was lovely and friendly and had great suggestions for my son. She was happy to go and grab extra materials and added to the positive experience. Kate was wonderful-really friendly and helpful,offering lots of suggestions on how to make different creatures and use the materials. My son had a fantastic time and Kate was a big part of that.
The set up was clean,clear,calm and spacious-perfect for creating and making!
It was lovely to be part of a group of like minded adults and children trying something new with superlight air dry clay,with a spooky twist.

I booked this workshop for my 3 year old and she absolutely loved it. Thought it was a really good value, supplies used were plenty and we got to take home a ten eyed pumpkin (toddlers and googly eyes obsessions). Sally was so friendly and helpful, and gave my daughter space to become comfortable which is so important as she is so shy generally. We all had a great time.

Our teacher was Sarah Lee and she was absolutely brilliant. I really enjoyed her way of teaching and you could tell she was really happy to help. I probably could have done With a chair, although I was offered one but didn’t think I would need it. I would definitely like to do a longer course as this one wasn’t quite long enough. I did learn a few things to go away and practice with, but I will definitely be back for a one-to-one or even another beginners class. Many thanks

Kate was great, very patient and was prepared to go through steps several times as needed. Workshop boxes had not arrived, but the staff in store had prepared bags with the materials that were needed - the bags themselves will be very handy. Workshop area was a little bit cramped, as we had a full class of 5. Learnt how to crochet in rows, without increase or decrease, which is what I wanted. Good value and very friendly staff (including those not involved in the workshop):

Kate at the Oxford store was incredible! This is the second workshop we have attended that she has been leading and she is amazing with both the children and the parents. She comes down to their level and the sessions are very warm, relaxed, and child-led. She's also very good at encouraging parents to let the kids work and build their confidence without jumping in to help every five seconds! The space was very child friendly and perfect. These workshops are great value for money and we will definitely be back.

Kate was great, she gave the children simple instructions and then allowed them to get on with it. Then venue was easily accessible and clean. There was plenty of space for them all around the table. The resources were child friendly suitable for both my 7 year old and 2.5 year old. A great workshop which didn’t take the full hour, I’m sure it would have done with older children though.

It was good. My 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed it. There was not enough equipment (only 2 water pots per 6 children) and the height of the chairs was inadequate for such young kids. My 3 year old had his chin on the table. The teacher was chatting to the children but it would be good if there was a bit more of educational interaction not just small talk e.g. naming the colours, discussing the shapes the children chose, a bit of instruction with demonstration on how to blend colours to get a different ones etc.

Great value for money. Children had a kit each with enough bits to make 5 puppets although not all within the session (1 hour). Lots to take home and complete at our leisure.

The session flew by. We managed to make one each during the time slot. Would definitely book again. My children look forward to these sessions at the end of each term.

Only improvement would be more pairs of scissors and more glue for the “less able to sew” children.

My 5 year old daughter and I attended the Clay Monster Workshop in Oxford over half term. We had the best time. The wonderful Kate was our teacher for the session. She was amazing. Really patient, knowledgeable and encouraged imagination. The air clay was fabulous to work with. It was lovely to work with. I found the session so relaxing. My daughter loved it. It was great to get the time together to do this. We made lots of beautiful little monsters. We we’re fortunate to get the class to ourselves. The teacher on my workshop was fantastic. Very warm welcoming and helpful. I would have like a few more tips. Materials included were some very nice brush markers and equally nice silver acrylic paint. Brushes, brush lettering practice cards and ceramic ornaments four in the shape of baubles and four in the shape of stars. I would recommend the workshop and say it was value for money.

We booked to come to your Oxford branch for a Christmas wreath making course for a fun Christmas activity last Monday. The materials box was great, beautiful packed and it felt like a present opening it. The store added in some extra flowers and picks gave up more chance to individualise your wreath. It was interesting to see what different wreathed people made with essentially the same materials. One thing I think could be improved on was instruction, maybe my expectation was off, but I expected someone to advise me on the basics, which didn't happen. That said the lady from Hobbcraft who looked after us was lovely.

A very good workshop, well worth the money and not at all expensive. I booked it for my 14 year old daughter to help her get the best use of her machine. The teacher (Kate) was excellent with her and put her at ease very quickly, she thoroughly enjoyed her session and learned so many useful things to help her with her projects. I definitely recommend for newbies. Great job Hobbycraft!

Kate was great and really welcoming. My daughter really enjoyed the activity, but I didn’t really see the point of just picking something from the shelf and painting it. That all could have been done at home. That said, it was a lovely cheap activity to do and we would do it again!

We had a thoroughly lovely time. Our team leader was warm, friendly, funny and informative. Our kits were well thought out and nicely packaged. The only thing I would say is that perhaps there could have been a few more flowers. However we did produce lovely wreathes with what we had. Would definitely recommend it.

I had great fun making my Autumn Wreath and it is now hanging in my craft studio. All of us had a background in crafting, so didn't need much hand holding, and our teacher was very happy for us to do our own thing. We all made very different wreaths, which is just how it should be. The huge box our kit arrived in was filled with everything we needed and I think we all had a few things left over, so there was plenty included. I think the class was good value for money, especially as a glue gun was included.

The atmosphere was relaxed, Kate was knowledgeable and keen to share her expertise, as always the location was clear, airy and bright. With the resources being individually packaged they were easy to transport home. The only slight problem was the cloche design as when the base was attached you couldn't use or see the light. So they had to be taken away unfinished to enable a small hole to be drilled to allow the light to shine through.Good value for money and a good way too spend an hour on a Saturday morning.

My 5 year old and I attended the Friendship Bracelet Making class in Oxford this morning and I was great! All the materials were provided and we also came away with a fantastic box of goodies to make more bracelets at home.
Kate was so kind and helpful and made us feel welcome immediately.

Whole experience wonderful. I’m in my 70s and Cricut is a whole new venture for me. My crafting is die cutting making cards. From the course this morning I now understand that there is so much more, I think I shall need some more one to one as I am not completely savvy with the design part, am looking forward to learning more. The girls thoroughly enjoyed their session and painted beautiful landscapes. Kate, the teacher, was patient and good at explaining her craft, and clearly enjoyed it.
The session was good value - the cost of the materials they were given were probably as much as the course cost.
Would definitely book another course.
