Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Imogen was very patient and very helpful, made the class fun and put you at ease. We were given 2 balls of wool, a crochet hook and a bag to carry it in.Would definitely recommend this class to anyone who needs to learn the basics of crochet. Great value for money, loved that it was so relaxed

We went to the kids rainbow making class today and it was fantastic. It was the first class at hobbycraft we have done and we will definitely be booking more in the future. Our teacher was very friendly and approachable and they were very helpful towards the kids taking part. They really made the experience enjoyable for us. The rainbows look great and were fun to make. Overall fantastic class.

the boys enjoyed their class and what they created. it was a good chance to try out the clay and will likely buy since trying it. We liked how quick it was to create something nice and the texture of the clay.
the materials were quite rationed though and the others at the table didn't seem to keen to share so spent most of the time trying to make sure my boys had enough to work with.

There was no occasion just that the kids were off on holiday.the teacher they had was very polite and patient and good with the kids. hobby craft Dundee is a little cramped with people moving around you, but the store on this day was relatively quiet.the materials provided were very good and we bought some more to take home. Made animals and learnt a few techniques on how to make them look authentic etc.it was ok value for money.

The teacher was fantastic! She was patient, friendly and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to grips with the basics of crocheting. It was tricky at first, but I managed to get there in the end with the guidance of the teacher. The class was extremely good value for money. The wool and crochet hook that were provided were adequate for a beginners class. I would highly recommend this class to others.

This was a beginners crochet lesson picked by me as a gift. I took 2 sisters with me. Our teacher was very friendly, considerate and very patient. She also had a lovely fun approach and explained techniques very well. Venue was good and I liked the equipment that was provided and was able to take home my work.Good value for cost and I now have enough confidence and success to continue with this hobby.

The venue was suitable and We shall also be using cling film to aid clean up when crafting at home.

Had a wonderful and very helpful experience today at the Crochet tutorial. The teacher was very patient with me and helped me with all my questions. Linda is a superb teacher who understands my questions and doesn’t overcomplicate her answers. She shows me how to do the things I want to be able to do, and lets me try myself. She answers specific questions and doesn’t bamboozle me (believe me I’m very easily bamboozled). She also showed me how to transfer my free Hobbycraft SVG files into cricut design space.

Robyn is extremely knowledgable about cricut but is perhaps more used to tutoring more experienced users. I needed help with with making a layered card, but a lot of the content went over my head although I thought I understood at the time. I am of course a bit of a slow learner in the cricut department and it takes a while for me to process information. Robyn wasn’t given any time to prep for my visit which wasn’t fair on either of us and something that hobbycraft should look at improving.

This was excellent. Ann the tutor had phoned me a few days beforehand so we could discuss my expectations of the course, and she used this as the basis for a student centred teaching session. I had done some sewing before and needed a refresher rather than starting from beginning and Ann was quick to identify and build on what I already knew. The staff member wasn’t hugely familiar with what I wanted to do. They had challenges with the tech. Really didn’t feel it was value for money. I left with some squares on the canvas, she did help me place a fold but she couldn’t help me find a font that would write without all of the letters being separate. I tried to find fonts I had but the signal for my phone was poor. I actually left disappointed. The woman was lovely but I didn’t have an hour of learning or anything like a complete project. All I wanted was to be able to create tent place cards (plain)with a fold and a name on it and to duplicate this so that I could just change the names. Disappointed.

This was a FANTASTIC workshop with a really knowledgeable session leader. It turned into a real mindfulness session as I was completely absorbed into the activity so forgot I was sat inside a busy store! I thoroughly recommend the Dundee store as every member of staff I interacted with were lovely and showed an interest in what we were doing. The kit that was supplied had absolutely everything you needed to make a wreath, although I added to this by buying two packs of sundries as I wanted a ‘pop’ of colour - these were two for £5 so it was still a bargain! A fantastic experience- I will definitely be booking another workshop in the future!

I now have more confidence in using my machine, even to the point of fixing mistakes and problems, all of which are a learning opportunity. I’m really looking forward to doing more with my machine now and would wholeheartedly recommend a workshop to anyone looking to gain confidence.

Clare, the tutor was excellent; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I was the only participant so had 1-2-1 tuition, which was a bonus.

There was a good quantity of materials and a glue gun all provided in a useful reusable large box. Once I stopped gluing my fingers to everything, it was easy to do!

While I was there, Clare also told me about some other instore classes and I will sign up for the Christmas Eucalyptus Wreath.

The only negative was the allocated time was only 1 hour. Although I got on quickly, it took me just under 1.5 hours.

I am delighted with my wreath, and it is now on my door.

The venue was great! Lots of room to move around and also allowed me to bring my 3 month old son

The materials were great! Was able to use the same sewing machine that I own so it was really beneficial and they had a range of different fabrics so I could get a feel for evething.

Definitely value for money and I would absolute pay the same if not more again!

This was a beginner's crochet class. I was the only one in the class which was such a shame but the class went ahead which thankfully meant I got a one to one class with Robyn. This was a lot harder than I initially thought it would be but Robyn was extremely patient showing me different methods I could try to make it easier for me. I will need more practice but I have came away from the class feeing more confident about starting crochet.

This was a complete and utter waste of time and money. The girls were given pretty much zero direction, my 5 year old was handed masking tape and expected to be able to make her own B from this, she can write letters but can certainly not do this alone. When any of the adults asked questions at the start the girl got extremely visibly stressed out. I had travelled from fife for this and asked to use the toilet and got a very unhelpful approach from the member of staff taking the class and yet she proceeded to advise us that we weren’t allowed to leave the store?! I’m fine with not leaving the store but in which case toilets need to be provided and expected to be requested. As the girls were given zero direction and told they were allowed nothing but the paints on the table, no glitter or embellishments as requested by others. I would not recommend this, I will not be booking any further classes and feel pretty much disgusted with the way the class was held. Complete waste of money

Attended a fantastic paint pouring class today at the Dundee store with my mum. Gav was brilliant! Very charming and a great laugh was had. We absolutely loved our finished pieces, and couldn’t believe we received a £30 paint kit to create our pieces too. We even have some left over to do at home. Can’t wait for my next class - so thank you Hobbycraft! Best day out I’ve had in ages. Staff were absolutely lovely!

My one-to-one workshop with Gav in Dundee was great.
I'm relatively new to Cricut and Gav took the time to talk me through one of my projects and show me how to navigate my way through design space with lots of hints and tips to make the process much more user friendly.
I've come away from the workshop feeling much more confident and looking forward to putting everything I have learned into practice.
The hour flew in so I'll probably book back in to get a little with other projects I have in mind.

My class in the Dundee store good I’m relatively new to Cricut so wasn’t sure of the questions I should have been asking. Instructor was very knowledgeable about the product and it’s capabilities, I would have liked a more hands on approach as we just talked about Cricut for the hour maybe a few demonstrations would have been good the iPad screen was quite small to so it was difficult to see the things he was doing. I should have taken notes which I did do the next day at the classes I booked for the Falkirk store.
The class In The Dundee store dispelled my nervousness of using the machine and gave me the encouragement I needed to go home and try for myself.

I'm a confident beginner &was looking to upskill my knowledge. Wendy was brilliant very patient, explained everything clearly. I went with specific questions about button holes, twin needles, how to use certain sewing feet. I was shown all of this & some really cool techniques with the darning foot. I went home and practised and will continue to do so. This class is so worth it Wendy was very knowledgeable and gave me a great sense of confidence and enthusiasm. I arrived on time for my class to be informed by the staff that they had not received prior notification that I was to be attending. Despite the fact that the shop was extremely busy, my instructor Liz quickly set up the equipment, ascertained my requirements and delivered a first class tutorial on the project I was working on. Her attention to detail and ability to demonstrate and explain certain techniques was first class. Very good value for money.

My daughter learned how to make a cushion cover and is so pleased with the result. The instructor, Wendy, gave her many useful tips and was very supportive throughout the session. It was really useful for her to have an opportunity to talk through the different tools of the sewing machine and learn how to do zips and buttonholes. Gav, the teacher, was very enthusiastic and helpful. As I was the only participant, I had individual attention.
Everything I needed was in the kit, including a glue gun. However, a short length of ribbon to hang it up would have been a nice touch.
Instructions were easy to follow- I just copied the example as I have not made a wreath before, and was delighted with the finished wreath.
The only problem was the tulips were very difficult to cut, as they had wire stems, but once the instructor provided wire cutters it was much easier.
I felt it was good value for money- the contents of the craft kit was around £25, and I also received instruction and a big useful box.
I will certainly look for more projects in store as I really enjoyed myself.

This class was fantastic and the assistant was very informative and talked us through the circuit maker and different uses of the vinyl. The demo was at an easy pace which was great as we were all new to digital cutting and asked lots of questions. Would highly recommend this class as it was excellent value for money and good fun. Enjoyed the tuition and got a few tips on how the two projects I’d already completed could have been improved upon, which was great. Instructor had all materials etc. at hand and asked me what I wanted to work on which was really good. Few problems with the technology which wasn’t the instructor’s fault, but ate into time available to learn. This meant project we were working on wasn’t able to be finished which wasn’t great. Found out that some of the problems I was having at home was due to a faulty machine and so that was a great outcome of the course because I thought it was me not doing things right! Hobbycraft were great about resolving this which was fantastic.

Was a great opportunity to bring along some things I've been practicing with in terms of basic card cutting and getting more info on using the design space etc to make my own designs as well as templates available. If like me, you are still overwhelmed by this wonderful machine. I would suggest a one to one class. Instructor was really knowledgeable and couldn't be more helpful.

Excellent selection of materials to start us off on our journey of card making.
Only very small criticism, I thought the session could have been held in a corner of the shop away from the other shoppers, with prams etc struggling to navigate Roy d the table, but as I say a small criticism and did not take away from the fact we had a thoroughly enjoyable craft session. Will definately consider some other classes in the future.

I attended the class with my friend, we had a great time it was good to do something different. However, 1.5 hours is definitely not enough time to complete this. You will need to do this at home but I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something fun to do.

Teacher was great. So chatty and friendly.
Definitely don’t get enough time to finish, got less than half done in the time.
I would say you also don’t get much paint. You only get white and then 2 other colours

I am considering purchasing a Cricut Maker and was interested in finding out about the capabilities of the machine and the type of projects it could be used for.
The instructor was very knowledgable about the software and design process. It was difficult to see what was being demonstrated using an iPad which also seemed to restrict certain applications of the software. A laptop would have been more suitable.
I would have liked to have seen more cutting demonstrations with the actual Cricut machine and more information about the materials it can cut. We only saw it cut a piece of fabric. Very disappointing, even some finished items on display would have been useful to see.
Two members of the group arrived 15 minutes late, they were not wearing masks or exemption lanyards. No members of staff asked them to put a mask on or ask if they were exempt. Not really satisfactory in the current situation.
The area where the demonstration table is set up is very cramped when customers are trying to access adjacent shelves at the same time, also very distracting.
The minimal fee of £5 was probably reasonable for the information provided although any customer in the shop could join in the demonstration.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wreath making class and feel like I can now confidently make one myself at home!
Good instructions by Pauline, our teacher. She gave us pointers then let us run with it. The only frustrating thing for me personally was making the bow and I really wish we could have spent more time on this to be honest. I think maybe an hour was just slightly too short and an hour and a half would have been better as I didn't have enough time to finish my wreath and had to complete it at home.
At first I thought it would be weird sitting in the middle of the store doing the class but you get so into the class you kind of forget there's people walking around you.
I do think it would have been nice - given the price - if we could have picked a few extra decorations to use. The example wreath had autumn leaves on it and we were told they were out of stock but weren't offered an alternative which I was a little disappointed by. I purchased a box of little pine cones and added those in when I was finishing my wreath at home and it looks really nice but if would have been good if they had said we could pick something like those to replace the leaves.
Overall it was a really nice experience though and I will definitely come back for more workshops as it's a nice way to try your hand at different crafts!

Pauline was lovely. Made you feel relaxed straight away. Went through what we would be doing clearly and demonstrated what to do then encouraged you to let your creative flare come out, all the while just casually chatting like you were in your front room with friends. Great hour learning. Linda was a great teacher. Bit disappointed we could’t use the heat press to actually finish what we had created as felt learning the whole process under a controlled environment would have been better just in case something went wrong and could be corrected.

My daughter had a lovely one to one time while painting with the workshop teacher and learnt to mix colours to make a different colour, gave me and the elder ones time to look around the shop in peace

Thought it was going to be a group class. Turned out being one to one. Gav was great. I do have some knowledge of cricut Joy. But learned lots of new stuff. Attach, weld, black & white vector, smart iron on vinyl, multi cut & cutting pressure. Glad I took notes.

I was wary about the class as I am quite shy. Gavin put me at my ease, explaining what I wanted to know and encouraging questions. He was patient and knowledgeable about the Cricut and took time to explain what I would need for what I wanted to do. I thought the session was well worth the money and I wouldn't hesitate to book another workshop with Hobbycraft.

Fiona, the teacher was great with very clear instructions. It was good being in the centre of the shop rather than a separate space. Everything was provided which was good.
I was painting an advent calendar and learnt about using acrylics. For me there wasn’t enough time to complete the project. Fiona had done some work prior to the class starting and even she was unable to finish it. Not put a picture as it’s not complete.

I had a 1:1 session with the teacher who was informative and friendly. It really isn’t possible to complete this project in 90 minutes, even with Gavin the teacher mucking in, I got less than half of it done. However, I have enough materials and information to finish at home. I was very pleased with the overall experience.

A very enjoyable and informative hour.
The teacher was knowledgeable. She brought along examples of garments she had made.All my questions were answered and tutor gave advise on my sewing machine and accessories,
some techniques and useful tips.
A sewing machine and some materials were provided. I brought my sewing machine manual to refer to, also some material as I was looking for advise on the best way to sew jersey fabric. I think this was good value for money and would recommend for anyone looking to improve their sewing machine skills

Gareth was very informative. The materials were great as was the venue. Unfortunately paying £10 for the privilege of being shown some aspects of the cricut series is taking the mickey! There were questions I asked that couldn’t be answered because the machine needed to be set up to computer/laptop rather than an iPad which was what was used. This bears no reflection on Gareths input

Wendy my teacher was excellent at describing step by step instructions for a complete beginner (me) and I really enjoyed making my first cushion and a makeup bag.

The instructor, Gav, was excellent. He was very knowledgable and patient. He took me through all the areas that I was worried about and more.
He let me take notes without hurrying me in any way.

I would definitely recommend the one to one classes and found it very rewarding and great value for money.

Gav being instructor was very very competent and made it easy to understand, I’m better seeing things done and it sticks better. Gav certainly knew how to show, explain and act how a particular thing was done to the last dot
Will be booking again in a few months. 10++++ hopefully to soak in some more knowledge

The lady who took my one-to-one sewing workshop was very friendly, and so easy to talk to, I was able to ask many questions and was so happy with what I learned today. I was talked through fabrics, and how to cut out dressmaking patterns as well as sew them. Any questions I had they were answered and suggestions given. I am looking forward to my lesson on zips and buttons. I would definitely recommend these one-to-one workshops.

The teacher Wayne (I think) was very good and informative, he showed me all the basics of the Cricut Explore Air2.
I will probably need more help later as I am not great with computers and I think it may take a while.

Nicola our tutor for the session was great. Very patient and encouraging to the kids.
The venue is easy to get to with plenty parking.
Lots of items to come away with for setting little budding artists up. I grabbed some more canvases on their 3for2 offer as well.
My daughter loved the class and is keen to build up her art skills as well as come back again.
Great value for money and we enjoyed a mum/daughter day out.
