Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I was inspired to do a crochet workshop after my young daughters spent their pocket money on crochet cuddly toys and I admired how good they look. I found this beginners workshop and booked on. The tutor, Denise, was brilliant. She taught us the basics from what the packaging on the wool means, what size crochet hooks there were and how to do some basic chains. Whilst I'm not at a stage where I can make things yet, I am practising so that I'll be ready to start to make things in the future.
The group was small (3 of us) and Denise worked with each of us and answered our questions. I would recommend for any beginner.

I thought the class was good value for money and I learnt the basics of crochet. Unfortunately I did not think to state that I was left handed and the teacher found it difficult to teach me left handed crochet. We got there in the end!

Beginners crochet. Hubby brought as as a birthday gift as I've been trying to teach myself crochet but couldn't get the hang of it.
The teacher was great. Explained well and was patient as its not an easy thing to teach or learn. Venue great. I cant believe i left having learned to crochet a square. Woke up today and still haven't forgotten!
Need to perfect what i learnt but now I've done beginners crochet I may come back to learn granny squares eventually. Good value for money.

no occasion, just an activity for school hols. Teacher was lovely. Venue was in the middle of the shop, which could be distracting. it was just my daughter, which was nice in some ways but prob would have been nicer to have had others there too but we obviously choose a time slot that was quiet.

We hadn't used air dry clay before so was a new experience and helped us think of how to use it, to use feathers and eyes and how to make holes etc. Yes I thought £4 was good value for money.

My daughter came out really happy and had really enjoyed it. the teacher was very good with her. She enjoyed her to be free with her ideas.

So informative and she was so full of knowledge so patient and answered all my questions.

I have one thing to ask that a new rotary blade be available as we did a demo on material which was a main point I wanted to clarify.
Also the website didn’t give you the option to digress to ask for this as the lady may have been able to have ready. She showed me however and was brilliant just wanted to point out for ant web updates. Thank you so much really enjoyed and will be back.

Took my DD to a clay workshop today and it was a lovely relaxed session with plenty of time allocated so didn't feel rushed. Absolute bargain of an activity seeing as we got to take away the extra clay and models she made. Great way to spend quality time together allowing her to be creative and learn something new. Will definitely be back for more and the instructor Laura was lovely

My daughter enjoyed the class and the teacher allowed my mum to bring home some air clay for my other child as she was poorly.
Unfort there was an occasion when the teacher was quite curt towards another parent, which was a little unnecessary.

Our teacher Denise was great and my 4 year old was lucky to be the only 1 in the class.
We learnt a lot of different print techniques using different materials with paints to create the canvas print. We weren’t rushed and did some extra painting at the end with the paint we hadn’t used. Great experience.

After watching various online videos on how to use Cricut machines I was left with a whole lot of questions that were not covered in the demonstration. I booked a one to one at the Bournemouth Hobbycraft and spent a hour with a very knowledgeable member so staff who answered all my questions and showed me how to do the things that I was interested in. The demo was mostly for the Cricut Joy Extra. One thing I hadn't realised was you have to pay either a monthly or annual fee to access the Cricut design space and pay extra to use most of the items displayed. Now I have research to do as I would be an occasional user or to stick with my Sizzix and limit my makes.

Thank you for a great session for a beginner! I needed help with learning how to use the sewing machine and how to start with little projects like making purses and t-shirts. Teacher was very helpful and experienced and I learnt a lot in an hour! She also advised me on additional equipment I might need such as fabric scissors. I also received practice fabric which is handy! Great value for money and I feel more confident in getting started now.

Apologies, i did not catch the facilitators name but she was really fantastic. I took my 3 and 4 year old alone to the workshop and the facilitator was very supportive particularly as one of my children decided she did not want to engage with the activity or show her best behaviour. Beginners guide to granny squares, my teacher Denise was wonderful, she is very informative and so patient. I would prefer not to have the class on the shop floor, as customers keep stopping, looking over your shoulders and watching which is very off putting it is very good value for money with all the materials provided to get you started. I have now done both beginners classes and hoping to put everything in Denise Has taught me into practice.

Had a 5 star Glowforge workshop with Shauna who we think is a massive asset to your Hobbycraft shop in Ferndown. It was my second workshop because I do a different type of work on the Glowforge making wooden cog clocks on 6mm plywood. This I believe is not what normally Glowforge Pro's are used for but she has worked through it for me and solved all the problems that I have had so far.

Alice was lovely and showed the group how to tackle the wreath.
The hour flew by and I was pleased with my efforts.
The table space was tight for 6 people, especially as we had wreaths, boxes of dried flower, glue guns and an extension box to accommodate.

We did a privately booked acrylic pouring workshop that I arranged for my boyfriend's birthday. Our teacher Nate was great, she was friendly and took the time to chat and get to know us. She didn't rush us even after our time had finished, and she stayed with us until we were ready to go. She was very helpful. It felt a bit weird doing it at a table right in the middle of the shop, I thought it would be more like a separate room or cordoned off corner. The class was great value for money and was able to be booked at short notice. Thank you.

Thanks to Shauna for the demo. She was knowledgeable and did a good job. I would have liked to have seen how it performed from a laptop with a mouse. Its a struggle using an iPAD as everything has to be finger dragged so too difficult to draw accurate shapes.
I will have to experiment with the software a bit on my laptop.
The glowforge entry level machine does good quality work, but at 6w is very slow. The Pro model is better at 45w. For a lot less money though the 40W machine cuts the same thickness material. albeit a little slower.

I'm a beginner to using a sewing machine and Becky explained everything really clearly, allowed me to have a go myself on different things I wanted to achieve and was incredibly patient and kind throughout. Shiela my teacher was brilliant. When I received the Joy for Christmas, I discovered that Cricut themselves provide very little guidance on materials, uses and methods in the box and the Design Space lessons are very overwhelming for my learning style. Shiela was able to go through everything with me, demo different machine capabilities and recommend books and materials for everything I am hoping to achieve and let me have a go too. I feel much better about giving it a go and getting to grips with it all now.

As I had only just received my Cricut Explore 3 for Christmas I wanted to find out more about the design space. Sheila was very thorough and went through everything I wanted to learn. She demonstrated how to use this with card, vinyl and iron-on vinyl. I now feel more confident in using the machine and am going to be practicing all Sheila taught me. Instructor didn’t really seem to understand when I repeatedly said that I had chemo nerve damage to my fingers which made holding things the correct way much more challenging. Felt as if I was being told off at school! Have to be honest and say I really didn’t enjoy it.

I'm so glad I did this class! Becky was absolutely amazing, patient and lovely! I've never used a sewing machine before but bought one recently, hoping to learn to use it. After a few weeks of me not even getting the machine out of the box due to sheer cluelessness of what to do with it, I decided to book onto this 1-2-1 sewing workshop. Thankfully for Becky, I now know how to use my sewing machine, how to set it up, and I got to practice using the exact same version of the sewing machine that I had bought. I was very nervous about using it but Becky was so supportive and went through the main safety elements of using a sewing machine. I struggle with anxiety but Becky eased any anxiety I had! She makes you feel like you're the only one in the room and gives you her undivided attention. I wasn't sure what to expect from this workshop, all I knew was that I had wanted to learn to use my machine and to get into sewing. Becky noticed that I had a scrunchie in my hair and suggested that we make one! It felt so personal and I still can't believe that I made something with a sewing machine! Such a good outcome to the session I even received 2 sewing machine driving test sheets for me to practice my sewing skills on. I am beyond grateful to Becky for teaching me how to begin my sewing machine journey! Thank you so much!

Bit of a disappointment to be honest, I paid for the class for both my children to make a santa or a reindeer. I expected all the materials to be there and for the instructor to talk us through making them. Unfortunately several packets of clay were put on the table with an explanation of ‘there is no red and no brown so you can’t make a Santa or a reindeer’
The instructor then basically said make what you want. No guidance. The children all made snowmen but again no orange for a carrot nose. This is my third class at Hobbycraft and I’ve got to say it’s really put me off doing it again. I booked it a while in advance, if you arrange a class you need to get the right materials or cancel the class

Lovely little selection of decorations to make and the usual happy, helpful staff to show us what to do.

I would say that there isn’t enough time with 30 minutes for little ones to make all 3 decorations though as they’re quite fiddly things to make. Also, with younger ones, their decision making with colour choices and button choices is not quick.

No one in the group we were with managed to complete all three decorations and a few didn’t even mange to get the second one done.

We were sent home with all the bits to complete them at home though and the kids were happy with what they made but it definitely needs either more time and/or maybe reducing to 2 items.

Still fun and the kids are always happy with the activities and the subsequent meander around the store. ☺️

The class is to make 3 Xmas items in 30mins, with wet paint for one item! Not enough time and 1 decoration was sent home to complete. Very poor Hobbycraft, how are we encouraging craft at such speed with young kids.

As a knitter I didn’t think that I would find this as difficult as I did! Never tried crotchet before and for the first half an hour I really wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to produce anything. However, with Denise’s extraordinary patience I successfully managed a chain, double and triple crotchet stitches and have practiced all three on my own at home using both the tools given and the expertise imparted. Both children, aged 7 and 4 loved the pumpkin paper Mache craft session.
The person running the session was friendly and helpful, and helped with the children if they needed it.
All of the materials were provided - and wipes for sticky hands!

Somewhat rushed by instructor and rapping out what could be done with what e pleasing table when we arrived with three kids under 7 Yold time to arrive but had already started so we had just about half an hour ! We all made things with children ( grandchildren) but a bigger area and more seating area would’ve been better Value for money though and first time !

I am so pleased with the learn to crochet granny squares class I attended today. I arrived with a very basic ability and left having produced a lovely crochet square. Claire was assigned to work with me 1:1 using the Cricut Joy. She showed me how I can download my own picture and then print it on vinyl to make a decal for my campervan.
Next she showed me how to make cards.
Her knowledge was invaluable. I found her to be an articulate tutor and she worked with me at my own pace.
She also gave me some 'tips & tricks' which again has proved very useful.
I thoroughly recommend doing a 1:1 workshop and in particular having one with Claire. Thank you very much.

Denise was friendly and patient. I enjoyed my class but realise I am better suited to one to one training. I found it hard to follow the instructions. Although only 3 of us we were in a line so the teacher often had her back to me. Which made it hard to hear or feel as engaged with the class. The items provided were good wool/crochet hook etc. I would recommend the class but know that for me personally I would attend as an individual.

My one to one Cricut workshop was extremely helpful today. Sheila was a great teacher! I am a beginner with the Cricut Explore 3 and I have learnt how to do text, writing with Cricut pens on cards & inside cards, group/ungroup letters, make tags, use ‘combine & attach’ & ‘weld’ with images on Design Space. Sheila was very patient & repeated the information when I needed her too. There were a few problems with “machine interference” which interrupted the lesson so Sheila kindly gave me extra time. The workshop was worthwhile & worth every penny!
I wouldn’t hesitate in booking another one to learn more about Cricut!

My friend and I joined one other lady to learn to crochet as absolute beginners. The small number in the class made it easy to have lots of one-to-one time with our lovely, patient tutor. The class took place in the store but we were enjoying learning so much we didn’t notice the shoppers. We learnt basic skills to get us practicing at home and starting basic projects. We have decided that we will be enrolling in the other class to learn how to make granny squares soon. Our tutor was knowledgeable and patiently explained techniques and we were able to progress at our own pace. We came away feeling that we had had achieved something good in starting to learn a new crafting skill

I attended a one to one sewing workshop yesterday. It was simply brilliant. Becky my teacher was so knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We covered everything I had wanted to and more. I left feeling much more confident and will be back for more classes and advice. I’m usually hopeless at leaving reviews but felt compelled to do so for this class as it was excellent. If you are unsure whether to book? DO IT. It was money very well spent and as above I will be attending more.

I would say to anyone thinking about it, have a go! Do take a tray or two, or a low sided box, to put wet things in to get them home. I also had a plastic sheet in the boot of my car and managed to get it all home OK.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Acrylic Paint Pouring class. Shauna was an excellent teacher, clearly demonstrating some of the techniques, & was calm & patient. The kit provided was comprehensive, allowing us to "pour" 4 coasters & 4 pictures on board, & there was paint left over. It was great fun & I'll be having a go at home, (getting very messy of course!)

This 121 workshop helped me to get reacquainted with using a sewing machine. I bought one online which I collected in store at the same time as having the workshop. It had been about 20 years since I had used a machine so I really needed all the basics.
Becky helped me with the basics and more. We went through how to wind the bobbin, thread the machine, put different feet on, do different stitches, raise the needle and feet. We then practised sewing then went through making button holes and sewing the button on. We also sewed a zip on.
Afterwards she helped me purchase a few essentials to get me going along with a free "driving test", a sheet with dotted lines on to practise sewing on.
It was a great 121 session and I feel more comfortable getting started at home now, thank you very much.

Hi, I took my 2 grandchildren to this workshop aged 6 and 9 years old. It was the first workshop with Hobbycraft that we’ve attended so we were not sure what to expect, but thought it would be Hobbycraft lead with tips and inspirations. What we found was that Hobbycraft provided the materials - the clay - and we were on our own regarding what we could do with it… I think it would have been better if we were shown some items that had been produced in clay to inspire the children. Despite a slow start the children enjoyed the workshop and we would book another one in the future.

Im 49 & went with my daughter 17 & we really enjoyed the course. The lady was extremely patient as we were complete beginners. No need to take anything all is provided & can take home to practice. I’ve since crocheted a blanket, not perfect but a great start. My daughters doing a scarf. It’s addictive! Will definitely be back to learn more stitches. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves thank you so much.

My tutor, Becky was lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed my 1-1 workshop and I learnt a lot. I am new to sewing and only had my machine for one week. I've been struggling on with it, but Becky showed me exactly how to use it and gave me tips and ideas and lots and lots of information.

The instruction booklet which came with the machine was OK but an hour with Becky and everything became clear and simple. Well worth the time and money and would highly recommend this workshop. Thanks Becky for all your patience and kindness.

The lady who started the workshop swapped out with her college half way through after she kept telling me about the workshop she did the day before with a machine I don’t own and how to guide for things I didn’t want to know, I found it a little frustrating telling me the things I could of done that my machine isn’t capable of made me feel a little bad and frustrated and there were recommendations for extra equipment that just sounded incredibly expensive when I booked the workshop it asked what I wanted to learn and what machine I have, I’d id been matched with a staff member to tell me about the machine I own and the queries I wanted to learn I wouldn’t of wasted half the workshop and been left frustrated and feeling a little defeated.

Being brand new to using a sewing machine iI ran into a few issues with the quality of the stitch on the underside of my materials. I'd tried changing some tension settings etc but had no luck so thought I'd book a one to one session to get some help.

It was an informative session which helped identify the issue and allowed me to rectify it. The quality of the stitch improved immediately. I'll certainly return for another session when required.

Space was a bit cramped - 3 of us (+ teacher sat opposite) to 1 table in the shop - overlooked by other customers./ nowhere to put equipment box except the floor.
Learnt the basics and some useful tips. Very nice atmosphere and a very enjoyable hour - course could have been a bit longer ( 1.5 hrs?)
Contents of box could have more usefully included:
A black pen
Lined paper that related to the lines on the lettering practise sheets
A copy of the lettering sheets to be taken home to photocopy as required for further practise.

The tutor was excellent. Confidently using my ideas to personalise the bamboo cheese board I had brought with me-inserting image of a mouse and adapting the font. I’m delighted with the result and can’t wait to give it to my daughter at Christmas.
It was great to see the glow forge in action and the session has given me lots of ideas for new projects.

Sheila who took the 1-2-1 was a very nice lady. Unfortunately, she had very little knowledge of using a laptop, only the ipad supplied by hobbycraft. This obviously created a problem, and as a result we did not cover as much as I'd hoped, nor possibly the quickest way of "doing things". I have taken other courses and been very happy, but this one was not as expected, and therefore, I feel not value for money. That said, I will probably attend more classes, as and when needed, but will ensure that tutor has good knowledge of my type of laptop.

I recently visited the Bournemouth Store (great parking there) for a crochet class. The pack received to carry out the lesson was fabulous and had everything needed for the lesson and beyond - thank you Hobbycraft - it must be worth more than the lesson cost itself!

Jay was the lovely lady who was my tutor. She was so friendly and had the patience of a saint. I used to crochet when I was young but had completely forgotten how to do it - she quickly helped me master it again - even though I can only do it holding the crochet hook weirdly! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Jay just to let you know I’ve carried on my granny square at home and am attempting to make a cushion cover. Thank You So Much Jay for restoring my confidence - it was just what I needed. I’ll definitely book again for another class offered by Hobbycraft. This was a really good workshop for brush lettering. Georgia was an excellent teacher and extremely patient with our beginners efforts. She managed to keep encouraging us all with a friendly smile on her face and gave us lots of tips and suggestions to help us.

This workshop was really great. The teacher, Krissie, was helpful, patient, fun, and good at explaining and showing stitches. The venue is good and although other shoppers pass by they do not interfere. We were too engrossed in what we were doing to notice anyway. It is an excellent workshop for someone who has not done embroidery before as many new stitches are taught, and relaxing for those who already embroider. All you need is provided and very good value for money. I would recommend this workshop both for the beginner and those with experience.

I really enjoyed this class. Georgia, the teacher was excellent. I learnt so much in a short amount of time and she was able to identify mistakes and help me to make corrections. She also gave me lots of advice about how to take this new hobby forward.
The pack that came with the course provided everything to get me started - a lovely set of brush pens and several stationery items to use for practice.
Now all I need to do is practise!

My teacher was lovely and so patient with me, I was a complete beginner with design space and she went through everything, making sure I understood everything step by step, I even took a list with me and she made sure we went through all of it, when I arrived everything was already set up and ready to go, their was all the accessories their and she talked me through ones I didn’t know about, the area was clean and tidy and ample room for the course, I would highly highly recommend for anyone just starting out it’s the perfect way to start your hobby.

Coundnt of asked for a more patient ,kind and wonderful instructor they really made the class fantastic and a pleasure.
It was a nice quiet area of the shop so easy to concentrate and learn .we started from ground zero learning how to hold the hook and wool then how to chain ,double crochet and triple crochet and how to increase . The class was not rushed and each person was supported and helped to acomplish every step at there speed.
I really enjoyed this class and the teacher and i will happily be looking at more classes . Thankyou so much

The teacher was very friendly & helpful, although new to the Glowforge. I had a very enjoyable experience, but I feel that the 20 mins time that was allocated was not adequate, as it takes nearly 10 mins to create and a lot longer to design.
I loved the decoration I came home with and will enjoy hanging it on the Christmas tree.

Georgia was a great tutor and the hour spent at the workshop was good fun. I have painted in watercolour before but it was nice to get different tips and share ideas.

The equipment in the workshop box was good quality and plentiful. The table instore at Bournmouth was in a quieter space and I felt relaxed as we painted amongst the shoppers.

My 7 year old guest enjoyed this activity. There was a good range of materials available to use for the masks and the activity leader was friendly and encouraging. We were the only ones who had signed up for that session; some other families who came into the shop showed interest but because they had not prebooked online they were not able to join in, even though there was space, which seemed a shame.

Young girl who took the session was lovely and very patient. It was more enjoyable as there were only 2 others along with me doing the session. I was a little disappointed in that I didn't learn anything really and was hoping to get a better understanding of the whole process, but still I did enjoy myself. The box of goodies was like getting aChristmas present so that was lovely. However; much of the packaging could be done away, especially when most people recycle, there was just too much waste. The paints and supplies were excellent value for money. Recommend course for anyone with absolutely no knowledge of Acrylic Pour

What a great way to spend an hour or so. I learnt a new skill I hope to use in the future. Our tutor , Shauna, was super and very knowledgeable. All materials were supplied, good value for money. It was great fun to share the experience with some lovely ladies.

A bit of advice, wear something that can go in the washer or take an old shirt, but just splash and enjoy!

Had a great 1:1 session with Jay as I was the only person ! Venue at the back of the shop was fine as store was not busy but think on a busy day might be a distraction. Materials provided were good and good value for money although another 30 minutes would have made a difference. Didn't get tp finish it all by any means and had to call her a few days later for some help. But I have now finished and very pleased with it. It has motivated me to learn and do more pictures. As a complete beginner is definitely worth doing to learn some basic stitches.

It was really valuable to have a go at a new craft with guidance. Like a risk-free way of just having a go. I was amazed at the kit and accessories you got for the money, was like Christmas! It was very relaxed and you could go at your own pace. Georgia was lovely and easy to talk to; it didn't feel awkward that it was just me. I did x5 mini canvases and took a larger one home to do.

The macrame pot her course was great! Jay, my teacher, was so patient and kind. She took me through the steps one by one and was so helpful.
The box came with everything I needed and some instructions. The only negative is that the instructions were very minimal and didn't include a description of the knots required.
Also, probably needed another 15 minutes to finish off properly.

I went to Bournemouth store for the workshop yesterday and I was the only participant so had undivivded attention from my excellent teacher. The set up in store was very thought out. Even though the box of goodies was good the teacher brought along some Hobbycraft shimmer pouring paints paints too. (Note to self to buy some of those!). The lesson was informative and fun and we both enjoyed watching the paint patterns evolve.
I really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for the voucher.

The glue used wasn’t suitable, my children’s decorations came loose on the careful ride home in the car! Also although the lady doing the class was pleasant she just kept saying you had run out of most Easter decorations, there wasn’t even any mini chicks. Wouldn’t recommend or rebook a class.

There was plenty of craft materials to stick on the hat, the hat itself was disappointing…the picture showed a lovely blue or pink one, we got a very dented brown one, apparently the only one left.
The lady running the class was very pleasant.
I felt it was good value for money and my 5 year old granddaughter loved the experience

The Brush Lettering course was great fun. Held in a corner of the store, Andy led the hour taking me through how to get started with brush lettering with great demonstrations of the stages and letters and at my speed. He used humour and encouragement to make the hour fly by. The products supplied were excellent with the pens, pads and labels allowing you to continue practising after the session. I would thoroughly recommend this course.

Class held in Bournemouth store by Denise. She was VERY patient - crochet is something I could never get a handle on and now need a lot of practice. She also advised when she would be in store if we had a query/wanted more help.

She suggested some uTube videos which will help a lot at home.

Box of materials good and contained everything needed - acrylic yarn, hook, needles & pattern - however I would have liked another yarn rather than acrylic.

Really, really helpful. I'm rubbish at technology and Andy did everything in simple, small steps with me. I now feel I could go and cut something confidently! The only thing that surprised me was the lesson was on the shop floor, customers asked a few times for help, but Andy was very good and quickly directed them to where they needed to go, if not he got someone else to help them. Just thought it would be away from the public. I'm going to book in again for a lesson on heat pressing. Really happy, thanks

Unfortunately I didn’t catch the ladies name who helped me but she was fab! Very warm and welcoming and made sure I had covered everything I wanted to. Positives: lovely, knowledgeable young lady did the workshop and it was 1:1. She was very helpful.

Negatives: too expensive for what it is, workshop on the shop floor means you get interrupted by shoppers, and others listen in for free for something i had to pay for. You don't get to take any of the samples home.

Teacher was great, but this class is NOT for beginners. After 90 mins I had only achieved the basic chain stitch. The teacher did her best and tried to show me the other stitches needed, but it was way too complicated. Since I’ve booked, I now notice it suggests you need to understand the basic stitches before the event. I wish I’d known as I would have cancelled or done my research beforehand. The kit they give you is great, but I won’t be able to crochet my bunting. It is too fiddly and complicated. If you wish to book, read up on basic crochet stitches before you go and good luck!

Really enjoyed the class today at Bournemouth Hobbycraft, teaching us how to use infusable ink. The instructor explained as she showed us how to use the materials and then we were able to have a go using the pens to create a small design ourselves which gave us all a bit of confidence being able to have a go.

Shauna was just brilliant. Having never used a Cricut before I was so confused before today and now that Shauna has shown me so much I can’t wait to start lots of projects. This one-2-one with Shauna was brilliant. She is so helpful and definitely very patient Actually sat down and was able to work on machine myself. So much better to be able "to do" instead of just watching and listening. Hopefully I've now got to grips with basics and a little bit more. Practice! Practice! Practice! This class is definitely money well spent. I would also add that over the last few weeks, every member of staff I've spoken to, raised queries with, etc, have all been, without exception, incredibly helpful and friendly, and nothing has been too much trouble for them. of nice pens, large blank drawing pad, spiral, lined note pad and some luggage style gifts tags. The tutor was very good and explained /showed us all the lettering as we went along. Just need to practice now! Definitely recommend this course.

This workshop was very enjoyable. We were given ceramic shapes, paint and paint brushes , brush lettering pens and, important for me, charts that showed you how to form all the letters of the alphabet. We were able to work at our own level and pace. I painted one of the star ceramics, but because I'd not done any brush lettering before, I spent the time practising the lettering on the charts. The teacher was very helpful, showing us the easiest way to form the letters and encouraging us. Although the area for workshops is in the middle of the shop, with people passing by, we were so engrossed in what we were doing that I didn't notice them! It was an hour well spent. Thank you.

Really nice workshop with just me and one other person. Our course tutor was great, with relentless patience as I found it hard to grasp the skill of brush lettering. Think it could do with being a little cheaper, and that would bring more people in. I’d also say that this particular course was called Brush Lettering Christmas Ceramics Workshop but there was no time left to do the ceramics as we were still learning how to write each letter. This was not the tutor’s fault - He asked us what we wanted to do and I elected to keep learning the letters as I could paint the ceramic baubles at home - but I think the workshop doesn’t work in its current form. If I already knew brush lettering, I’d have time to write on the baubles, but then I wouldn’t need the £25 workshop.

Attentive teacher and the equipment was good. I was especially glad to have to use a glue gun as I hadn’t had the ‘courage’ to try one, on my own, before! I think I would have preferred to have been in a separate room, rather than in the middle of the shop but once I got going, I soon forgot that shoppers were stopping to look at us because I was so absorbed in the creative process. I felt one hour wasn’t quite long enough, but although I didn’t manage to finish many others did and I was able to take away plenty of material to complete the project at home.

Venue was comfortable.
The lady running the course was lovely and very helpful. She was well prepared and able to help with any questions or needs.
We were given extra resources to make the wreaths more striking due to previous course feedback which was brilliant and made my wreath look really good especially as the course was £35 each and the kit was a bit basic…

Great 1:1 class intro to cricut. Knowledgeable staff and she could go at my pace eg I'm very used to computers, so the design space was easily assimilated and she could get on to cutting heads, materials, pens sooner. Because of her class I bought foils and tools ready to get started.

Professionally packaged box (very exciting to open!) but didn't feel as though the course had been run before. The clay stuck to the paper on the tables and was then very difficult to remove (a non-stick plastic surface would have been better). Lovely lady running the course but I didn't feel she really lead it from a position of experience. I opted to do the course instore 1) for the opportunity to learn from others but 2) to get tips and tricks from the leader. But she was very positive and motivational especially during an initial tricky situation with another customer who wanted to socially distance her table.

At the end, our hands were very white and the only wipes available were the few dried ones which we had to dip in our dirty water. And then we took away our half opened clay etc, knowing that it would start drying out unless we wrapped it up soon (the benefit of doing the course at home). It would have been a nice touch to have had these little things considered or mentioned prior to coming (ie bring wipes and a large sandwich bag). But overall, we enjoyed it and we'd book again. It was great value for money and it was a great opportunity to take time doing something new. Please keep running these types of coursemaybe even throughout the year, not just for Xmas?!

Session was well structured however didn't realise we weren't going to be able to decorate the stars we had made and we only had 1 or 2 to decorate that had been made previously. Also thought we were using polymer clay rather than air dry clay - this should be specified. The picture looks like a flatter clay and more easily managed. Also when rolling out the clay we couldn't get a flat surface. Initially we had brown paper and this stuck to the clay and combined with it. Should have flat plastic roll out mats to use. Also no where to wash hands afterwards. Box of kit very well presented. Happy Christmas stamp also didn't fit on star.

Loved doing a craft I haven't done before. An hour wasn't long enough but we did stay longer thanks to our lovely assistant. She was very helpful and gave us everything we needed. Very attentive.

The tutor was lovely, but there very little time, I had to rush my project and evidently was not pleased with the result, and it will probably end up in the bin. I came away disappointed and thought it a little waste of money. In hindsight I would much rather had done the course online so that I could take more time.

This class was great fun. The materials were easy to work with and the clay was dry enough not to be too messy. The teacher was helpful, showing us how to use the clay, providing ideas, and other members of the group shared ideas too. The positioning of the activities area in the shop is good, with ample room so that shoppers are not hampered by it. Altogether it was a very enjoyable hour that I would recommend to anyone, whether they have used clay before or not.

Thoroughly enjoyed one-to-one with Shauna. As a complete novice, I found her to be very knowledgeable, able to answer all my questions and also very friendly. The only small criticism is that it would have been nice to sit down at the machine, instead of standing for an hour. Will definitely book another "lesson". Thankyou!

Excellent, I was welcomed, and given the tuition I expected and more. Only negative was I was going to take my machine but received an email to say not to bring my own. When I arrived I was asked if I had brought it, however the tutor was very helpful in helping me choose a machine in Hobbycraft.

This was described as a workshop and was actually just a demonstration. We didn't actually get to try anything. I did ask for a demonstration of material other that paper and fabric and this threw the girl and she then told us that you need a desktop to control the cricket rather than an iPad or phone for other materials. I did fell sorry for her as my daughter in law has spent many hours looking at "You Tube" tutorials and wanted to see things being produced in the flesh so to speak.

I really enjoied this workshop. Teacher was lovely, she showed is an idea on how to make the wreath, but also gave us the freedom to do whatever we like. It was a good value for money and I am already looking for a diferent workshop.

The class to make an Autumn wreath was really great. The teacher gave ideas, taught those who had not previously used one how to use a glue gun and gave tips on how to place the items on the wreath, starting with the larger pieces and filling in. She allowed those there to use their own creativity and design while helping where necessary. She also had a demonstration model that we could look at. The decorative items were varied in size and colour, but fitted together well. We had great fun as a group. I enjoyed it so much that I now plan to use the skills I have learnt to make a Christmas wreath.

Was good and interesting, but a bit quick with three of us, asking questions.
Think it’s something you have to progress slowly understanding.
However a suggestion instead of throwing away ( after displaying) makes, perhaps put in basket near tills be ideal for a quick unusual pick me up gift, with little price, perhaps £1 due to materials. Your tutor did very well fielding questions, and displaying method of Infusible ink. Think maybe a one to one with a have a go for person trying to learn, Thankyou

The teacher was fantastic she made the class very relaxing and fun to attend…
The time was too short though as I only got one side of the pieces painted and had to take it home to finish.
There was also only silver paint and a wide paint brush in the pack, I needed a variety of colours and narrow brush to complete the cloches I made.

I am a complete beginner and so I found it too hard to keep up. It was difficult to see on an iPad and having standing up at a counter. I use a computer at home and the tutor said that it would look completely different on a computer. This is when I left.
I think that you should let the customer know about having to stand for the whole lesson and that there would be other people attending all at different levels- not just beginners as the course title states.
Your staff were very kind when I mentioned that I could not continue with the class because of these reasons.

My time with Chrissie was an absolute pleasure. This was the first course in Card making I’d ever done. Chrissie was so patient & reassuring throughout the time we spent together. I didn’t manage to start the third Card in the kit but that was in no way any fault of Chrissie’s.
The venue of the class was good.
The Card kit provided was great. And as a bonus the materials I didn’t use in the class I was able to take home. I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to practice what I’ve learnt.
The class is totally worth the cost of £25, particularly as the Card kit is included in the price.
The class was designed for beginners., which totally met my skill set of zero Chrissie during the course of the class gave me some very useful tips & advice, which I really appreciated.
Based on my first experience at Hobbycraft I’ll definitely be back to increase my skills.

This workshop was amazing! The artisan was so welcoming and helpful, giving us lots of tips for the painting. The advent house kit itself was absolutely beautiful too- it came all wrapped beautifully in tissue paper as though it were a present itself!

A relaxing way to spend the morning. Hobbycraft is easily accessible and there is plenty of free parking. The workshop comes in a box which includes the basic resources needed to make the wooden advent calendar. Georgia (the tutor) was friendly and helpful. I look forward to completing my project at home and would definitely come to another Hobbycraft workshop in the future.

The venue was good. The teacher was great, giving advice and help when needed and providing extra ideas. Providing the materials in an individual box was very helpful as it meant you didn't have to wait while someone else used something, or locate it and ask for it to be passed to you as in previous years. The Pebeo matt acrylic paint did not cover the mdf as well as other makes of paint provided in previous years and with paler colours at least 2 coats were needed. Although there was a choice of 2 colour options, it would have been good to have been given the choice of gloss or matt. I only painted most of the doors in the time, but was reminded that PVA glue acts as a varnish. I was happy with the value for money and enjoyed it very much, with the chance of doing crafts with others. Thank you.

A credit to Hobbycraft, sparked a passion and we bought more cord to do future projects! Whilst as a complete beginner it was tricky, nothing was too much trouble for Kay.
