Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I attended the beginners crochet class with my 13 year old daughter. Both of us had not done any crocheting before. The teacher was fantastic! She explained everything thoroughly and demonstrated clearly what we should do. She took turns to speak to each person in the group and made sure we worked at an individual pace. I will definitely book onto more of the craft sessions as my daughter and I loved it!

This was a small group of 5 people which was a great size and not intimidating. Our teacher (Kee) was lovely and patient. She was an excellent instructor and gave us plenty of one-to-one attention which was really helpful. Highly recommended for complete novices like me!

Great beginners crochet session. Lovely, friendly teacher guided us patiently through each step, using the quality materials provided. Great to be able to take our packs home to continue practicing our new skill. I would recommend to others as a nice way to learn a new skill in a relaxed session.

My grandchildren ages 8 and 7 loved this class! It was excellent value & the tutor was really helpful with ideas. Purchased some clay after the class and the children have loved making more monsters at home :)

Great class and good value for money, my 10 year old loved it. Only small thing was that it could have gone on longer, had not quite finished monster after 30 mins but luckily there wasn’t a class straight after so got to finish. Amy who took the class was very affable, knowledgeable and made the kids really enjoy the experience. We will be coming again.

Excellent class! Absolutely enjoyed the session! Attended with my two daughters. Very clear instructions by Amy that my 6 and 10 year old could follow. She even taught my 6 year old an easier method as she didn’t have the dexterity and couldn’t easily handle a large needle. Amy taught us three stitches and explained how to choose yarn/ needles and follow both UK and US patterns. Definitely recommend the class for beginners.

Booked this for my 7 year old granddaughter and she had a great time. Amy took time to show her what needed to be done and my granddaughter was able to make a rabbit and a sheep which look superb. We even bought some more clay as she fancied making a blue whale next!
My granddaughter was obviously pleased with her work as she says she is going to take her clay animals in to school for show and tell after Easter.
A lovely way to spend half an hour and I will look for further workshops to attend in the future.

Our daughter’s best friend is moving back to Japan next week and the workshop making clay animals was a lovely activity for them to do together on an emotional day of goodbyes. The Easter clay modelling class was great value for money and my little boy really enjoyed it.
The session included all the things we needed to make two animal figures.
We did buy some clay to take home and make some more things.
The teacher was lovely and very patient, and advised how to make further animals.
I will be looking at doing more of these classes

Fantastic session creating our own Easter Bonnets! The hats look great -much better than we could produce at home and, more importantly, my girls learned new crafting skills making springy flowers with pipe cleaners and watching how a glue gun works. Again, things we wouldn’t have managed at home! And the best bit … Mum didn’t have to clean up any of the mess!

My (adult) daughter and I had a private class with Amy who taught us to crochet. Many have tried before and failed. Amy was knowledgeable and very patient. She went over each step until we got it. She was very calm and a great teacher. We were given a cotton tote bag conraining 2 balls of soft chunky yarn and a crochet hook as well as detailed instructions for later if we needed a reminder. We thoroughly enjoyed our session and will definitely be booking onto the granny square course once we have practiced what we have learned. Thank you Amy!

I thought the class was good value for money. If you are an absolute learner I think you would benefit from a private class as I had watched You Tube but still wanted to attend a class. One lady monopolised the teacher, Amy, who was very good and tried to get round us all and went well over the hour and a half which was very good of her.
I enjoyed the class and materials and instruction sheet was provided so you can practice at home

Such a great class for beginners.
There were a mixture of age ranges which showed that this class is for anyone.
Amy was knowledgeable and took her time to talk us through everything. She would come round to each one of us and show us where we were making mistakes and how to fix them and improve.
I left the class feeling like I had actually learnt something.
The next day I even made a simple phone pouch.
I am now looking to book the granny square class.

Tutor was knowledgeable but very poor teaching skills. Talked and demonstrated far too quickly and I had to keep asking her to slow down and repeat things. Her demo was not successful either. The vinyl didn't cut, the second vinyl jammed in the machine and a lot of my hour time was wasted.

We all tried 2 different types of glues but neither of them worked when sticking the pipe cleaners to the cards. Same with the pot poms. Had to use double sided sticky tape which was more fiddly.

Good value for money and my child enjoyed it, but we were just given some clay and got on with our own creations. The teacher did make suggestions but thought it would be more teacher led. Felt like we could have done the same at home having said that we were late so may have missed something at the start. Nice to get to use a material we hadn't before and will be buying for home on future now we have had a chance to use. Would definitely do another class, as nice activity especially for price

I really enjoyed learning to crochet with Kee on Thursday 24/8/23.
Kee was very friendly and it was obvious that she enjoyed crocheting herself.
I learnt how to make a foundation row in order to make a chain and then moved onto learn double and then treble crochet.
Kee was very patient and explained everything in easy to follow steps.

Lovely teacher - very kind and patient. Session just right at 30 mins. Price £5 is spot on. Only criticism would be the illustrations had just been printed off the web page and were too small for the whole class to see. Why not print individual pictures of what you can make - and then laminate them for multiple use? Would be a bit more professional!

Really enjoyed this crochet class, there were 3 of us in the lesson and the teacher was great at splitting her time between us to check our work and answer questions. She was really knowledgeable and explained the different stitches and techniques so they were easy to understand. I feel much more confident to give it a go myself.

We had Kee as the teacher for the workshop she was great and able to adjust instructions for the wide age gap of children. She was also listening to the children creating and provided them with the next colour without them needing to ask.

We went to the Altrincham store and the workshop was at the back of the upper floor which was nice as not busy with people walking past.

The girls used air drying clay to create their creatures which was a great hit as has been previously because of the texture, smell and popping sound it makes.

Amy is a very good teacher. She was clear in her instructions. She provided Group and 121 assistance which was nicely balanced between the newbies and more experienced members of the group. There were 5 in our group which was a perfect number.
The workshop was located at the rear of the Altrincham store which was Ok but personally I would have preferred a dedicated space partitioned off from the shop floor as shoppers with children were popping round most of the time on a Saturday.
The bag and instructions provided are very good. I would have preferred the option of a different wool as I found it hard to keep the tension. But I’m only nitpicking here.
The class provides great value for money and the 3 hour free car parking is a bonus ( as have to pay in Stockport).

The training was in the Hobbycraft store itself and so was easy to find and the venue was fine for the purpose. we were five minutes late for the training but Anna our trainer had no issues with it. We did apologise of course.
We were taught the basics as we wanted and we asked a lot of questions and all of them were answered. many of the questions were about which equipment and accessories to purchase and we were pointed to in the right direction.
We would like to thank Anna, our trainer and am happy to recommend this training to anyone.

We took our 4 year old granddaughter and her friend and they both loved painting their initials. The teacher was friendly and gave the girls ideas and help when necessary. Amy was amazing. I haven’t yet bought a Cricut and wanted to see the machine in action before I buy. Amy explained all the basics, showed me Design Space, gave me a coupe of demos, gave me lots of tips and was so patient. Would really recommend doing this workshop if you’re thinking about getting into Cricut and want to know where to start. I’ve watched tutorials online but seeing it in person is better. You realise it’s much easier than you imagine and I was blown away by the amount of different things you can make. Thanks Amy.

I was disappointed my grandchildren were the only attendees. Would have tried to rearrange had I known. The techniques were very simple, but suitable for ages of a wide range- draw a continuous overlapping line with a wax crayon then colour in the spaces with various media- watercolour, coloured pencils, felt pens. It was nice to go to a venue where the materials were provided (and cleared away!) The facilitator was very nice and the boys enjoyed chatting to her. Thank you.

My tutor was Anna who was a natural at teaching. She got the balance just right between showing/doing and allowing me to try the various techniques.

I was wanting to go back to simple sewing with a machine which I had not done since school nearly 50 years ago, and had narrowed it down to the Midi and the basic Singer. I felt very relaxed and not a bit stupid thanks to Anna and her patient manner. I ended up buying the Singer as I felt the difference in build and quality was well worth the difference in price.

I felt it was £15 well worth spending to make the correct decision.

Amy, my teacher, was excellent, she didn't mind repeating things and made sense of things that I have seen online but not really understood. I wanted questions answered about vinyl and she demo'ed its use very well. She also encouraged me to look at infusible inks too. There was no hard sell which would have turned me off completely. I still managed to spend money anyway. I now feel more confident with my machine and ready to try new things. The lesson was excellent value for money and I will be looking at other lessons offered. Years ago I formed an opinion about Hobby craft but that has changed now so I'll be back. The store is nice and airy, not too hot.

The teacher gave some initial advice about holding the pen for the downward and upward strokes but not much more. There weren't enough practice sheets. I bought this workshop as a Good Friday deal so it cost less. I don't think that it was good value for the full price although it was worth doing as an experience.

I really enjoyed this workshop. I haven't use a sewing machine for years. This lesson was ideal as refresher or for beginners. We learned to set the sewing machine, practiced different stitches, how to sew a buttonhole and a zipper! Anna was very knowledgeable and helpful.

I was the only person on the course so it was 1-2-1 tuition. My instructor Amy was fantastic. She talked me through what I would be learning, the contents of the box provided and gave me an overview of wools, hooks and pattern information. Amy worked to my pace and we didn't move to the next part until I had grasped each section.
I have tried on multiple occasions to teach myself to crochet and have never got it. Unbelievably, I am now sitting looking at a square of crochet, made up of various stitching techniques that I have learnt today. I am delighted!
I would highly recommend this course. I think it's great value for money, especially with the tools provided and the amazing expertise to guide you.

Kee was an amazing instructor. Very knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. We did an overview of the machine they have set up for the class, and then discussed the similarities/differences to the machine I have at home. She then helped me choose the accessories I wanted to buy and answered some other random questions I had.
I had an overall a fantastic experience, and will definitely be returning o Hobbycraft for supplies for all my crazy project ideas.

The teacher was very approachable and friendly, explained the techniques really well, and was encouraging without being patronising. She also gave me tips for advancing my technique and ideas for projects at home, as well as practical advice.

Fantastic workshop to learn the basics of fluid art. The kit provided was excellent value, everything you need to complete the workshop and plenty to take home to continue exploring this art. This class was great. I have never done lino printing before. The instructor was good and very patient. She gave us lots of positive support. I learnt to cut through the lino to create a rubber stamp. We then inked this up and printed the picture onto paper. It was very good value for money as we had all the supplies provided and could take these away with us. It is great that Hobbycraft runs these courses as it gives you a heads up as to how to tackle a new craft that you have never done before. You also get to meet like minded people. No painting skills taught, no colour mixing taught, just making a messy canvas with cheap pre mixed paints, could have been done at home with a chap pound land canvas.

I am terrible with names, and i forgot my teachers name! I went to the Broadheath site. There is only 1 Hobbycraft near me, but to be fair, even if there want, i would always go to this one. Staff are amazing, store is clean bright and everyone working there is every so helpful.

My class there was an eye opener, my teacher gave me confidence, answered all my questions and addressed every complaint and annoyance i had. She helped and guided me through every issues i had. i left full of confidence. i thank you teacher!

The women who ran the class seemed a lovely person but I have to give honest feedback.

Positives included: the size of the box with the materials in. This was amazing and I was so impressed.

My son was the only person at the class (no other participants) so this may have dulled the experience. I found the person who ran the course lacked engagement skills. My son didn't want to make cards and I don't think she engaged him very well. She was very nice but perhaps not lively enough to engage children. A lot of the session was her spent making cards and my son drawing random things. As it was a one-to-one, I felt she could have shown a tad more enthusiasm. I felt at times it was as though she didn't want to be there.

It was good but hard work.

She was nice but not ideal for engaging younger children.

This was my first experience of a Hobbycraft class and I was impressed. The teacher was knowledgeable and the contents of the kit were good value. One of the two stamps provided was too big to fit onto either of the sized stars so perhaps a bigger star or a different stamp could have been provided.
All in all, I would book again.

My teacher Kate was very patient with me ( I’m not very computer savvy) and explained everything clearly and step by step so I could take notes It was excellent value for money as I could ask everything I wanted to know and didn’t feel embarrassed when Kate had to repeat a few steps Would definitely recommend the one to one

This workshop was very enjoyable and great value for money.
The teacher was excellent.
The box of course materials were of high quality and exceeded all expectations.
I came away from the course feeling confident and pleased with what I had achieved. Highly recommend.

Amy was lovely, friendly and very knowledgable about the products used in the workshop. The area used for the workshop is on the upper level of the store so anyone shopping in store have to a walk pasted you and Amy was asked a couple of questions by people shopping which were answered in a very friendly manner. There were 2 of us doing the workshop so the time allocated was ok but if there are anymore than 5/6 people space and time would need to be looked as as I feel it would put me off booking other workshops.

My tutor Kate was friendly and welcoming. She demonstrated how to sew a buttonhole on a machine clearly and guided me patiently on how to do it myself. By the end of the class I felt I had learned a lot.
