One-to-one Sewing Workshop

Join us in store and talk to a craft expert for tips and advice on your sewing machine or project!

1 hour Class size 1 on 1       £28

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Robert Robinson, attended Apr 2025: Excellent sewing class. Brilliant teacher! I got to learn how to use a sewing machine for the first time! It's very exciting to learn a new skill, thank you so much. At the end of the class I felt confident that I could continue to practice at home, however, there was the small matter of not owning a sewing machine. I wanted to rectify this matter and I received some good advice on which machine would suit my needs. As a beginner I wanted something basic and easy to use for minor alterations. So, I'm now the proud owner of my very own sewing machine! Thank you again for your wonderful teaching and advice, you have sewn the seed of sewing in me and I'm ready to hit the peddle! Kind regards R.

We did apologise of course. We were taught the basics as we wanted and we asked a lot of questions and all of them were answered. many of the questions were about which equipment and accessories to purchase and we were pointed to in the right direction. We would like to thank Anna, our trainer and am happy to recommend this training to anyone.

  • 5/5 from Pauline Roberts, attended Feb 2023: My tutor was Anna who was a natural at teaching. She got the balance just right between showing/doing and allowing me to try the various techniques. I was wanting to go back to simple sewing with a machine which I had not done since school nearly 50 years ago, and had narrowed it down to the Midi and the basic Singer. I felt very relaxed and not a bit stupid thanks to Anna and her patient manner. I ended up buying the Singer as I felt the difference in build and quality was well worth the difference in price. I felt it was £15 well worth spending to make the correct decision.
  • 5/5 from Fiona Donnelly, attended Nov 2022: Anna my teacher was superb, calm methodical, and highly organised. She taught me how to use a Janice Hobbycraft machine 100s. It was great fun.
