Discover the joy of working with clay in this flexible 8-session hand building pottery course designed for total beginners and anyone looking to refresh their skills. You will learn the fundamental skills of hand-building, including slab building and coil pots, to create your very own unique vessel.

  • 6 guided lessons covering hand building and decorating techniques
  • 2 self-guided practice sessions to build confidence and work on your chosen project
Use your sessions anytime within 3 months.
Guided lessons: Every Monday 6–9pm
Self-guided practice: Tuesday/Wednesday 6–9pm, Fridays 2–5pm, Saturdays 10am–1pm.
Ideal for busy schedules, shift patterns, or anyone who prefers a flexible learning style.
Small Class Sizes
With a maximum of 6 students, you’ll enjoy personalised, hands-on instruction from Amanda, a professional potter with 17 years experience who creates a supportive, relaxed environment.
What You’ll Learn
Instead of a strict week-by-week agenda, your guided sessions adapt to your pace and interests. You’ll explore techniques as you’re ready, spending more time where you want — and moving on when it clicks.
Throughout the 6 classes, you will:
  • Explore the art of hand-building
  • Experience the joy of creating with 3kg of clay
  • Use a clay of your choice (Red, Black, White, Lava)
  • Learn the intricate process or painting / glazing
  • Learn a mixture of skills; coil pots, pinch pots, turning, slab-building
  • Learn how to prepare the clay & studio flow
  • Join our community of potters
  • Tour of the kiln room
What Happens After the Course
Your pieces will be fired in our kiln, a process that takes around 2–3 weeks. You’ll have up to 3 months to collect your work.
Want to keep going? You’re welcome to join additional self-guided sessions or become a studio member.
What you'll get
3kg of clay to hand-build a piece of your choice. Additional clay can be purchased (maximum height of finished pieces is 35cm)

Session repeats

After the first session, the next session is: 6 x guided lessons: Monday 6-9pm / 2 x Self-guided practice: Tuesday/Wednesday 6–9pm, Fridays 2–5pm,.

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea, team building activity, birthday or hen do.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids (the adult may observe for free).

We're based in a unique London Location at Trinity Buoy Wharf, this riverside creative hub features London’s only lighthouse, amazing views of the O2, and a buzzing art scene. Make a day of it — explore the wharf, grab coffee at Orchard Café, or hop over to Canary Wharf for drinks afterward.
