If you want to add a bit more magic to your Christmas gifting this year, come along to this workshop in Dunblane, where you'll learn all about traditional Japanese furoshiki wrapping — a gorgeous, eco-friendly alternative to the usual wrapping paper.
Furoshiki are painted or printed wrapping cloths traditionally used as informal gift wrapping in Japan. This ancient craft has seen a recent revival as we all look towards more sustainable ways of living, and meaningful gifting.
Hosted by an experienced crafter, you'll enjoy a four-hour session of block printing using natural inks and sustainable fabrics to create a collection of alternative eco-friendly wraps, ideal for Christmas! Under the guidance of your teacher, you'll use pre-cut patterned blocks with festive shapes to explore repeat printing, then design and cut your own motif to print with.
You’ll come away from this eco-printed textiles workshop with an understanding of the printing process and materials, and a set of printed wraps that you can use as a more sustainable alternative to gift wrap this Christmas.
