What you'll do

If you're looking for a fun way to get yourself into the spirit of the season and learn something new along the way, come along to this London workshop and learn to build your very own bespoke natural wreath!

Using an array of fresh forest cuttings, dried fruits and other beautiful festive decorations, you'll work with an experienced crafter to make a wonderful wreath that'll bring some festive cheer to your door. With step-by-step guidance throughout, you'll pick up key skills for selecting festive flora, learn how to arrange them and finally tie everything together into an eye-catching wreath.

You will get a welcome drink and we have a bar available with drinks for sale

With everything you need ready and waiting for you, you're free to enjoy the fun part: enjoying the soothing, meditative practice of flower arranging in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. Whether you're coming along by yourself or bringing some friends to share the cheer, you're sure to make some lovely memories this Christmas.

To ensure an uninterrupted and fun workshop for all participants, we kindly request that attendees arrive on time, as late arrivals exceeding a 10-minute delay will be turned away to avoid disruption to the ongoing class and inconvenience to others.

Art Play London was founded by Silva Castellani in 2018, starting in galleries such as Phillips, and pop up venues around London.

Art Play is now a new art studio which opened in East London in February 2022, where children and adults of all ages are free to release their imaginations and inner creativity.

Art Play has a strong focus and the environment and aims to educate children and adults on their environmental impact through art, using a variety of sustainable mediums and materials.

Art Play is part of the worldwide Precious Plastic community which means it will be a plastic collection point for people to drop off their HDPE plastic which would otherwise end up in landfills or the ocean. The plastic is then shredding and melted and turned into useful objects and pieces of art, such as plant pots and coasters.

Came with friends for some festive cheer. Teacher was sweet enough, very softly spoken but didn’t have much time to supervise or answer questions as she was busy providing cuttings as they weren’t readily available on the table and we had to keep asking and waiting for more which cut into our time (we were a group of 5, there were 2 other groups so 10 in total - she was constantly cutting). There wasn’t much variety with decorations and foliage provided compared to some other reviews posted here, which is a shame. Am sure there was supposed to a beverage included when I booked too…

We really enjoyed the wreath making class - the teacher was very sweet and explained the method in simple steps. A nice range of materials is provided. The finished wreath is a bit smaller than I expected but still good value for the price of the class. The venue (upstairs at Spitalfields market) is a little soul-less and it would have been nice to be in a cozier space. Overall a really enjoyable class though - would book again.

I enjoyed the course and it was a bit cheaper than some other wreath-making classes I've seen. The location is also quite nice, they played Christmas songs as well which gave the class a festive atmosphere. There was not that much instruction given though and the resources were a bit limited, there was no glue provided so it was very difficult to attach things like the orange slices; we had to tie them on with string or wire which looked a bit naff. There was also only a few pairs of scissors and some of the decorations were in short supply. There were no baubles or cinnamon sticks to attach, as the picture shows. There were no refreshments provided either.

It was very much a ‘get on with it yourself’ class - not very demonstrative, had to keep asking for supplies constantly - the setup wasn’t great - uncomfortable benches and there was 7 of us working on a tiny table so wasn’t enough room to spread out. Overall wasn’t worth the money I paid - feel like I was teaching myself! Studio was freezing and not very festive/cosy.

The workshop was fun, accessible and we were able to make great wreaths. The instructor was present, clear and helpful and we had a lot of fun. The venue, right in Spitalfields market helped create a wonderful atmosphere perfect for any holiday party. This was also the most affordable option available to us, so as a small charity team, this was a perfect treat for our hard working team.

Came away from the workshop with a lovely wreath, which is obviously key! Materials were good, although it seemed a little chaotic in terms of how these were given out (turned into a bit of a free for all). I did feel there was a lack of clear instruction on the day and we were largely left to get on with things ourselves. I think this class would be best suited to someone with some prior experience in wreath making, but as a total beginner I would have appreciated more advice and supervision.

Overall enjoyable experience however the range of materials provided were not varied enough and we ran out of some items part way through making the wreaths.

Also not enough tables and chairs were put out for us and I was sometimes working with my wreath perched on the edge of a table.

Teacher was kind and friendly and lovey to be in Old Spitalfields market where we could hear live musicians and gospel singers singing Christmas songs below, getting us into the festive spirit

Aija our tutor was organized, helpful, creative, specialized all in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Loved sharing xmas tradition stories with the people in the class. Came away not only with a stunning piece of creativity, which I'm usually not too good at, but also a lovely northern hemisphere Christmas feeling.
