In this much-loved bowl-making workshop in London, you’ll use our in-house plaster drape moulds to create a beautiful deep ramen bowl with an elevated foot ring, perfect for cosy autumn eating. This easy, tactile process celebrates organic form and individuality.
Perfect for beginners, and even better with a friend. There will be plenty of guidance as you make your bowl in a relaxed and supportive environment.
For this workshop, you will use “Chalk” -- a tactile, sanded cream stoneware sourced exclusively from UK clays. You'll also have the option to apply transparent glaze.
Your final piece will be ready to collect around one month later, ready to use and enjoy for years to come!

Umber Works is a neighbourhood gathering place devoted to clay as a material and mindful practice — a small studio offering relaxed, beginner-friendly classes.
Our atmosphere is informal, supportive, and unhurried — a space for slow, embodied making, grounded in ancient practices, that feels calm, open, and easy to step into.
The studio shifts with the light — soft and open by morning, candlelit by evening. People settle in, working at their own pace. Conversation comes and goes — somewhere between visiting a friend’s studio and a shared creative ritual. From longer, immersive courses to gentle family sessions and candlelit evenings, the rhythm of the studio is reflected in the way we gather.
