You will be shown a wide range of hand printed tea towels and cushion covers to give you some printspiration for the workshop.


Repeat border design

Repeat Border Design

We will learn how to work with and create repeat border print designs, using blocks ranging in size from 5cm to 18cm long.
You will then use them to create stripes / borders on a tea towel. You can choose what you'd like to print in the remaining space.

We'll learn how to create both butted and mitred corners using border designed printing blocks on one side of a cushion cover


Learn to create symmetrical design

Learn to Create Symmetrical Design

On the other side of the cushion cover you'll learn how to create a symmetrical design using blocks of your choice. We will discuss tessellation and tiling designs too.


Due to the nature of this advanced skills workshop, it is available on demand. Usually run as a one-to-one session (or up to a max of 3) for optimum support & guidance. Projects can be tailored to include your preferred designs of wooden printing blocks.
Take your printing skills to the next level at this advanced block printing workshop. This session is designed for those who have some previous experience and want to learn more advanced techniques using beautiful, traditional Indian printing blocks.
This hands-on activity begins with a quick refresher using smaller blocks to get you warmed up. The learning then progresses as you are introduced to larger and more intricate printing blocks. You'll learn how to create sophisticated multi-coloured prints and further explore pattern placement, tiling, and the art of creating seamless borders and corners. You will have plenty of time to build your confidence by practising on scrap fabric.
Once you feel ready, you will use your refined skills to print your own bespoke tea towel and a stylish cushion cover to take home. The final printing projects are entirely your creations. They can be as simple, complex, plain or elaborate as you want.
You will leave with a collection of your own beautifully hand-printed creations, feeling inspired by the new depth you've brought to your practice of this traditional craft.
What you'll get
  • All materials are provided, including disposable aprons.
  • You will each print a tea towel and cushion cover.
Knowledge required
Previous experience & confidence in using wooden printing blocks is required

Where is this workshop delivered?
This workshop is arranged to order. It can be delivered at The Artist's Barn (if available) or can be delivered at a venue that you provide - up to an hours' drive from SP4 8BW. Contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Location

Your teacher can travel within 20 miles of Amesbury, to a venue of your choice.

Due to declining health from years of stress & fibromyalgia, I had to leave work in 2016. The corporate world broke me....
I found solace in creativity, and discovered the deeply absorbing practices of both Dot Mandalas and Block Printing had a significant positive impact on my mental health. At that point I realised that I wanted to share this inner peace with others.
So 'Dots & Blocks' was founded in 2017 - I combine my passion for sharing positivity through creativity with my skills as a former corporate trainer. Hosting absorbing and empowering creative workshops across Wiltshire and beyond.
During lock down I adapted my offerings to include Creativity Kits featuring video tutorials. Thus, enabling others to benefit from the mental health benefits of creativity at a time when they were needed most.
I strive to make creativity more affordable and accessible to all - offering you a choice of in person creative workshops or learn from home options. Plus I offer private bookings to those living within a 1 hour drive of SP4 8BW.
The fully inclusive kits contain materials carefully selected to be accessible to all ages, abilities and neurotypes. Plus I cater for different learning styles by offering full step-by-step written instructions and optional access to a FREE video tutorial.
