Kitchen Life Skills

A recipe demo workshop for young adults about to leave home for the first time.

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £75 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Parents of students heading off to university or college this September…
You’ve probably thought about accommodation, finances, laundry, and packing…
But have you thought about what they’ll actually eat?
How can students best feed themselves once they’re independent? Through tempting overpriced takeaways? Some unhealthy ultra-processed cafeteria food? The snacks aisle at the supermarket?
No thanks. Send them to my kitchen.
I’m running Kitchen Life Skills Workshops this August and September for students about to leave home for the first time.
Over two hours, they’ll learn how to make quick & simple, nutritious & delicious, cost-effective recipes including:
  • Protein-packed breakfasts and brunches
  • Easy, nutritious one-pot meals
  • Natural sweet treats
  • Plus essential food safety and kitchen hygiene tips.
No fancy equipment. No complicated recipes. All oven-free, and some involve no cooking at all.
£75 per person (all ingredients included)
Bookings now open for August & September.
Send me a message to arrange a date that works for your group (minimum of 4 people required).
DBS Enhanced check is in place, certificate supplied on request.
Give them one of the most valuable life skills they’ll ever learn: the confidence to feed themselves well.

Having worked in media for most of my career, the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 instigated new beginnings for me. Furloughed from my sales and marketing role in video production, I wanted to help my local community - so began donating vegetable soup to doorsteps of neighbours who were struggling with the virus.
Within a few weeks a new business - Lucy’s Ladle - was born as people started to express an interest in delivery of home-cooked, healthy food. I discovered just how much I wanted to immerse myself in the world of plant-based nutrition - and began to expand my offering of soups to also include stews, curries and casseroles, as well as roasted vegetable salads. The customer base continued to grow, and my catchment area spread.
Two years on and with more catering opportunities beginning to appear on the horizon, in 2022 I took the decision to move into food full-time. Running ‘healthy tips & tricks’ cooking workshops from my home kitchen in Surrey has now become an integral part of my portfolio, as well as catering residential yoga retreats and wellbeing events in the UK and abroad.
My aim is simply to nourish people and inspire them to eat more healthily by proving that conscious eating doesn’t have to be complicated or costly…. And is certainly always very tasty!
