In this online drawing class, we create a free and expressive space where students can bring their ideas to life through lines and shading. With the skills they learn in drawing and value studies, they will be able to represent what they see and feel in their own unique way. The class is not limited to a specific technique or style, and students will not copy artworks, though they will experience drawing from references to build observation and confidence.
The goal is to combine creativity, technique, and each student’s personal touch to develop original and meaningful work. We begin with fundamental skills and exercises to understand form, light, shadow, and depth. Step by step, students are encouraged to take on new creative challenges and explore their own artistic voice.
The atmosphere is calm, inspiring, and open to experimentation. Trial and error are part of the journey, and each student progresses at their own pace. A finished artwork is not expected after every session, as time depends on the size and complexity of the drawing and the artist’s individual rhythm.
For those who wish to expand further, the class can also lead into exploring other materials such as charcoal. Drawing and painting are deeply connected, and in this space, we nurture both skills together.

I’m Nahal, an artist and tutor based in Newbury, with around seven years of professional experience in the art world. What began as a childhood fascination with pencils and colours has grown into a creative journey through exhibitions, publications, and years of sharing my passion with others.
At my studio, I guide beginners and intermediate learners through sketching, graphite pencil, coloured pencil, and oil painting. My workshops are relaxed, inspiring, and focused on building strong fundamentals while encouraging freedom and creativity. Students often find themselves progressing faster than they expected, enjoying the process as much as the results.
I believe that every artwork tells a story — a reflection of emotions, thoughts, and memories. For me, teaching art is not just about technique; it’s about helping people express themselves and rediscover the joy of creating something truly personal.
