Join this one hour taster session of our popular floral experience and make your very own Ikebana flower arrangement with a modern twist. This class is perfect if you are curious about Ikebana and wish to learn a bit more.
Ikebana dates back to the sixth century when Buddhist monks made floral offerings for altars. There is great importance on seasonality, minimalism, and thoughtful placement of stems that is in tune with nature.
Delve into this gentle and important art form and step back from your busy life. Unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy learning something new.
This floristry class will be led by an experienced and qualified teacher who has a passion for all things floral. They will introduce you to the main techniques and principles of Ikebana flower design so you can create your own masterpiece.
We will provide you with stunning, seasonal branches, stems, and flowers. You will have the option to purchase the container and kenzan at the end of the class too.
We encourage using your creativity and personal touch while being aware of the basic principles of Ikebana.
If you want some things to do in London that will help you slow down then this class is perfect. Try it for a team-building event, birthday party, or just a nice weekend activity.
We are also happy to teach at a venue of your choice - there is no additional cost other than travel to your location.
Class time is just an estimate and may vary as everyone works at their own pace.

  • 5/5 from Kirstin Gottweiss, attended May 2026: Our teacher was so lovely and explained really well how to make traditional and freestyle ikebana! Thanks we also got to take the leftover flowers home which is lovely!
  • 4/5 from Laurel Tuohy, attended May 2026: We really enjoyed this but not sure it was worth 75 each. Our teacher, not the person I'd been communicating with that I believed to be the teacher, had just become certified and referred to herself as an intern at one point. The flower materials we worked with were very cheap, they probably cost less than 20 for all 7 of us. Would have been very satisfied if the price was closer to 40 or 50.
  • 5/5 from Belinda Nixon, attended Apr 2026: My friend and I had a really lovely time at The Flower Factory who kindly fit us in for a last-minute weekend class. Nono and Khin were warm and welcoming and it was a very relaxed atmosphere for two complete beginners at Ikebana! Nono guided us gently, and helped us create something we were proud of. A really enjoyable, calming class. Thank you both!

  • 5/5 from Sam Josephs, attended Jan 2025: I wasn't sure an hour would be long enough but we covered loads - the history, the art, demonstrations and an opportunity to do at least 2 creations of our own. Both teachers were exceptional in explaining everything, making us feel welcome and creating a fun learning atmosphere. I can't recommend this workshop highly enough, we absolutley loved it - and then came home to create more designs and go foraging for interesting twigs & flowers to keep practising!

  • 5/5 from Julie Brophy, attended Nov 2024: This was a great taser class. Over the hour we talked about the history of Ikebana, Japanese society and tradition before starting to look at the basics of the art. We then spent a lovely time working to create a arrangement. The comments from our tutor about our craetions were encouraging and very helpful. I had a wondeful time and come away with my first arrangement. Something to build on
