2 hours Location Leamouth Class size 1 to 4 guests   £15 - £25 (Earlybird price of £15 applies if you book into a public session 10+ days ahead)

Give your forgotten garments a fresh start in this patchwork class in London, where you'll turn studio scraps into something entirely your own. Using freestyle machine sewing or visible hand stitching, you'll create patches from offcuts, then sew them together into a piece you'll be proud to wear or display. Reducing landfill waste has never looked so creative.
Over two relaxed hours in a small group, you'll have plenty of room to experiment and make it your own. Bring along any garments or fabric items to add patches to, or make appliqué patches to take home and finish later. All equipment, thread and cloth scraps are provided, so you just need to bring your imagination.
The class is open to all ages and abilities, and it's a friendly way to learn new skills and meet new people. It runs once a month, so check the available dates when you book. You'll be in safe hands with Claire, The Ethical Tailor, who brings over five years of teaching experience in sewing and garment-making. Every booking also supports a project helping people with learning difficulties gain cooking skills across the UK.

My name is Claire and I am The Ethical Tailor. I am the founder of Moxie Craft sewing skills and Couchman Bespoke an ethical tailors based in Canning Town. I grew up in Harlow, Essex with a creative mother and an entrepreneur father. After gaining a BA(Hons) degree in clothing design and tailoring from Brighton University, I ventured into the world and set up my company to combat the inequalities of the fashion industry I had been subject to.
By creating zero waste through pattern cutting, natural dyeing and sourcing the most sustainable cloth and haberdashery we aim to have very little negative impact on the planet and local people.
Now with 20 years of retail knowledge and 18 years of tailoring experience and 6 years of teaching behind me, I feel confident in my ability to produce clothing that is timeless. Clothing construction is a great passion of mine that sits juxtaposed with a strong interest in the environmental impact of the clothing and textile industry. I aim to be a contributing factor in helping to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry whilst educating people about the issue through my workshops and trading fairly within the supply chain.
