Abstract Painting Class – London
Imagine painting in an artist’s studio, surrounded by inspiring artworks, flowers on the table, and relaxing background music — all while being guided by a practising artist to complete your piece.
This isn’t your typical paint and sip session. In our studio, you’ll actually pick up a few abstract painting techniques along the way.
What Is Abstract Art?
Abstract art focuses on expression, emotion, and experimentation rather than realistic representation. It’s all about colour, form, texture, and movement. Inspired by artists like Kandinsky, Rothko, and contemporary creators, this workshop explores the freedom and boldness of abstract composition. There’s no right or wrong — just pure creativity on canvas. You don't need to be good at drawing at all.
What You’ll Learn:
How to create expressive abstract artwork using acrylics, gouache, chalk, pastels & gold foil
Layering techniques, mark-making, and composition
How to use colour and shapes to evoke emotion and movement
What to Expect:
You’ll work from curated references and prompts, but with plenty of freedom to experiment. We recommend to bring a photo abstract rference - choose something simple easpeacially if your a biginner withabstracttion. There’s no pressure to draw or follow strict lines — we provide everything ready for you, so you can focus on layering and flow. This class encourages exploration and bold choices, helping you build confidence and find your personal style.
This 2.5-hour creative workshop in London includes hands-on use of professional art materials in a supportive, energised space. Whether you’re planning a team building activity, a fun day out, or a gift experience, this session is designed to inspire and refresh.

  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Mar 2024: We had a lovely time - Alma was very knowledgeable and had lots of helpful tips to aid us in creating our art works. The evening was very well structured and above all fun - the time flew by and we were finished before we knew it. Would definitely recommend to anyone who's wanted to try painting abstract art but doesn't have much/any experience.

  • 4/5 from Kim, attended Dec 2023: Ishbel was a lovely host and teacher. She made us feel comfortable and at ease, gave a good intro to what to expect, and included some small exercises to loosen us up into the main part of the class. All materials were provided and we got to take a canvas of our artworks home. I learnt some handy tips on materials and how to approach ideas for abstract art pieces which was most beneficial to me as I'd got stuck in the abstract art I'd been doing and needed some guidance. Will definitely look to do further courses through this studio.
