When they finally bloom, before those of other flowering trees,  they symbolize the arrival of spring for the Japanese.Crane - Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In Japan, the crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise) and symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years.Sunrise Mt Fuji - Japanese used to believe that Toshigami, a god bringing good luck, appeared with the first sunrise of the year. Therefore, you can benefit from Hatsu Hinode wherever you live, but nothing beats the majestic beauty of experiencing it with Mount Fuji in the background.
