Looking to improve your pottery skills or get started with the basics? This two-hour wheel throwing class in London is perfect for beginners, but it’s also a great opportunity for intermediate potters to practise and refine their skills!
The pottery class begins with a 20-minute demonstration, where your instructor will walk you through each step. After that, you’ll have around an hour and a half to work independently on your pottery wheel, giving you plenty of time to play, explore different shapes and make two to five pieces.
You will learn how to:
  • Prepare and wedge your clay
  • Set up your working area
  • Position your body on the pottery wheel and the importance of doing so
  • Centre your clay
  • Make an opening
  • Raise the walls into a cylinder
  • Shape the wall of the clay into a cup, bowl, jug, vase, or other vessel
Don’t worry if you’re a beginner – your instructor will guide you through each technique and help you gain confidence as you go. Pottery is all about practice and patience, so take your time, and don’t forget to have fun!
