Large Scarf Silk Painting Class

This intermediate silk painting class in London is the perfect next step once you've completed the beginner's course, giving you time and space to build on those first techniques. Spread over 6 hours across two weeks, the class allows plenty of time for gutta and colour to dry between applications, so there's no need to rush your design.You'll be working on a 45 x 180cm silk scarf with a rolled hem, ready to wear once your finished paints have been heat-treated for colour fastness – or, if you'd rather, you can back and hang it as a piece of art in its own right.Tania will guide you through attaching and preparing your silk on the frame, then help you design and mark out your images, using salt and other mediums to bring texture and movement to your work. Before committing to your final piece, you'll get the chance to experiment with different techniques and colours on spare silk, so you can feel confident in your design.It's a wonderfully absorbing, relaxing way to spend your time, and if you'd rather complete it all in one sitting, that's entirely possible too – with a lunch break built in to let your work dry between sessions.
