  • 5/5 from Sophia Williams, attended Feb 2026: I loved the candle making workshop, i would definitely recommend, its also a class you can attend on your own as I did, was so much fun, its a workshop I have wanted to attend for a long time, Sari' our teacher & host was lovely, fun & relaxed. I will definitely be going back for the Christmas workshop
  • 5/5 from Yolanda Adam, attended Feb 2026: Great workshop with lots of background information on how to make candles and where to get supply. I left with a beautiful smelling candle.
  • 5/5 from Catherine Lopez, attended Feb 2026: A fabulous way to spend a couple of hours. I went alone which was fine as the seating is around a large table, it was mainly friends groups, everyone there was friendly and motivated. The meeting point is inside Somerset house off Waterloo bridge outside Poon the Asian restaurant. We were met and taken down to the class room which was ideal for teaching us 12. Sari the teacher was a delight and so enthusiastic and informative, I really liked her. The basics of candle making were clearly explained and everyone left with a wonderful scented candle. It was such a good experience I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who likes being creative, likes perfumes, orjust wants to try something new.
  • 5/5 from Rachel Supple, attended Feb 2026: Really great class and informative and candle making and candle care. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Sarah, attended Feb 2026: Great session with a fantastic host. Learned a lot and it was super interactive. Very friendly and open - it was really easy to ask questions. Great group size and the Somerset House venue was beautiful - it’s actually in a room down beneath the main building so tricky to find your way in and out but they’re super helpful in taking you where you need to be. We made two candles each, which I definitely recommend as the fragrance options are all really lovely and hard to choose between, plus you can combine options, giving you even more choice! The class was around an hour which felt about right although it goes very quickly! Had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend as a solo or group activity
  • 5/5 from Giulia Rotondi, attended Feb 2026: We came to celebrate a birthday at it was perfect. Loved how relaxed the workshop was. You’re set up for success and to go home with a beautiful candle and a lot of tips about candle making and care.
  • 5/5 from Diane Bennett, attended Feb 2026: A very relaxed, enjoyable class with plenty of guidance and opportunity to ask questions. Everyone was pleased with their candle and I particularly appreciated the chance to design my label. I feel inspired to have a go at making candles for gifts. Thank you very much!
  • 5/5 from Jessica, attended Feb 2026: I thought this would just be a lovely way to get to make my own personal candle, but I got so much more out of the session. I learned a lot about different types of wicks, wax, and other information required to make candles, as well candle care. I came away more curious about candles and more appreciative of handmade candles. Sari was both fun and informative and the time absolutely flew by!
  • 5/5 from Dan Hawksworth, attended Feb 2026: I booked this class to take my girlfriend to on Valentine’s Day and it was so good! Sari is knowledgeable and friendly, and we had great fun learni by about and making our candles. It was really nice setting, a cute workshop/classroom space within Somerset House and it lasted a good amount of time. Thank you!
  • 5/5 from Rita Tsoukka, attended Feb 2026: Have to say that this was a brilliant candle making class! Sari, our teacher, was friendly, approachable and extremely knowledgeable in the field that she was teaching. Our teacher made it interesting and ensured everyone was looked after. Brilliant!
  • 5/5 from Kirsten Reisdorf, attended Feb 2026: This class was a good intro to candle making and we left with some lovely smelling candles. It was a cool venue in the Somerset house basement, which was also quite central. The instructor was friendly and very knowledgeable. The process itself was quite simple, but the instructor shared a lot of info around different kinds of waxes, fragrances, and tips for each step. The fragrance options were all wonderful smelling. We have burned the candles at home now and they are great quality and smell terrific. We went as a couple, but it was a mix of friends, parents and teens, etc. as well. It’s BYOB, would recommend bringing a beverage of your choice if you want one.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Feb 2026: A Glowing Evening at Somerset House! Had a fantastic evening candle making with Ambustum at Somerset House! It was the perfect spot for a creative night out. The vibe at the venue was laid back and you really felt like you were in a creative hub. It had a lovely atmosphere. The class permitted BYOB and there was onsite bar access too which made it feel like a proper social event rather than just a workshop. The materials provided were high quality. The candle wax and the scent selection were top-tier, resulting in a candle that smells expensive and has a long burn time. Our instructor was incredibly knowledgeable. She didn't just walk us through the steps; she gave us genuinely useful advice for DIY candle making at home and candle care/maintenance, which I really appreciated. The timings were spot on and everything flowed without feeling rushed. The only tiny downside was that I would have loved to melt the wax myself to get the full "chemistry" experience, but looking at the classroom setup, it was clear why that wasn't possible for safety/logistics. Overall, a brilliant experience. If you’re looking for a fun, crafty evening in a cool location, this is it! I have certainly been inspired to try this at home.

  • 5/5 from Lorraine Ager-Brook, attended Feb 2026: What a lovely way to spend a few hours with my friend to make our own personal candle. We got so much more out of the session. We learned a lot about different types of wicks, wax, and other information required to make candles, as well as candle care. Sari was very friendly, fun and informative and the time absolutely flew by!
  • 4/5 from Divya Gundlapalli, attended Feb 2026: Sari was friendly and gave good candle care tips. Most of the workshop involved waiting for the wax to cool, which made it feel less engaging. It was also less hands-on compared to other workshops I’ve attended. At the beginning, you spend about 5–10 minutes choosing a fragrance from Sari’s list. She heats the wax, and then you weigh the mixture and mix in the fragrance. After that, you wait for it to cool before pouring it into your jar. I was hoping for more involvement in the candle-making process, such as learning about different wax types or melting and preparing the wax ourselves. That would have made the experience feel more interactive and educational. That said, I’m excited about burning this candle.
  • 4/5 from Kelly Knight Sinnott, attended Feb 2026: My friend and I had a really enjoyable evening learning to make candles! I would definitely recommend the course..it was a fun night out.
