What you'll do
If you are a beader, a knitter, an embroiderer, a weaver or just plain nutty about everything textile, I have a jewellery class for you. With over 20 years of teaching my specialist wire techniques, I can pass on skills that will take your designs to the next level and give you many tips you won’t find in any books.This very ancient hand weaving technique often referred to as 'Viking Weave' is brought bang up to date using beautiful brightly-coloured wire to create a strong flexible chain perfect for necklaces and hoop earrings - no viking helmets required!Choose from my large selection of gorgeous coloured wires, cut individual lengths and weave them by hand using a large knitting needle as a former - gently interlinking your stitches through the previous row. Change colours as you go to make your design unique.Keeping the project fairly simple on the day means you can achieve a finished item in an afternoon. Extra time is allowed if you are close to finishing your piece. Take home all your remaining materials to easily carry on making at home.During the class, you'll learn how to:
- Create a ‘petal’ starter to guide your stitches
- Attach your starter to the former
- Form stitches and weave through the previous row
- Join in new wire sections and change colours seamlessly
- Magically transform your weaving using a wooden drawplate - a definite WOW moment!
- Finish off your piece and attach to your neckwire

From my studio of 18 years at the famous Cockpit Studios Bloomsbury in the heart of London, I create my highly specialised and beautiful textile inspired jewellery.Using my signature crochet and French-knitting techniques I conjure fine gold and silver stitches into sweeping fluid curves embellished with tiny diamonds and pearls.I grew up surrounded by the treasures of my mothers sewing room, full of thread, ribbons, trimmings, buttons and flowing fabric.I became fascinated with how similar fine wire was with fine thread - and started experimenting with wire weaving, twining, knitting and crochet.I established my studio at Cockpit Studios, Bloomsbury in 2006 selling and exhibiting at major Fairs such as Origin and Goldsmith's Fair and exhibitions in Japan and New York.I have run my own jewellery classes for the last 15 years from my studio at Cockpit and for the famous West Dean College in Chichester, and the V&A - passing on my specialist knowledge, hints and tips to inspire you on your jewellery journey
