  • 5/5 from Nettie McCarthy, attended Aug 2026: Matt was really attentive and patient while teaching the class. We learned a few different stitches and techniques. I would totally recommend anyone to learn. It was also great value as you get 2 free balls of yarn and crochet hook, tote bag and some take away instructions. This lesson has now given me the confidence to continue. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Audrey Nyman, attended Jul 2026: Excellent teacher. Kind, patient and good to talk to. Encouraging and confidence building. Thankyou to.Matt
  • 5/5 from Alisa Holding, attended Jun 2026: Friendly and very patient. Easily explained. Lovely starter bag given to take away. With everything you need for your new hobby. Would recommend.
  • 5/5 from Dawn Davidson, attended May 2026: I really enjoyed my crochet class. Matt was excellent and super patient. Having tried (unsuccessfully) to learn how to crochet using online videos it was excellent to get immediate feedback and encouragement that I was on the right track or support and guidance if I had made a mistake. I feel much more confident continuing to learn independently but certainly wouldn’t rule out a top up class in the future!
  • 5/5 from Shirin Welham, attended Feb 2026: Matt was a brilliant teacher, very patient and understanding. It was good to have a small group where we could ask for help as we worked.
  • 5/5 from Carla Paula Gomes, attended Feb 2026: I really enjoyed the class. I just wish there were more classes to learn how to do more things, like learning how to make clothes, or if there were different learning levels. That would be very interesting.
  • 5/5 from Diane, attended Dec 2025: My first Hobbycraft course and it won't be my last! I was delighted to receive a warm welcome from Kate, the tutor. The table was laid out with two balls of wool, a crochet hook, plenty of instructions and a canvas bag - all to take home afterwards. Kate was a very patient and informative tutor and I soon got into the swing of crocheting a chain, double and treble stitches. I just need to practise more at home, then I can sign up for the next course!
  • 5/5 from Catherine Mountford, attended Nov 2025: Kate was an amazing and patient teacher. She was very clear and had time to help each of us individually. The small class size and Kate's approach meant we we were all able to work at our own speed but all mastered the basics. I was a complete beginner but now feel I am able to make progress from here.
  • 5/5 from Hazel McCartney, attended Nov 2025: Very clear easy instructions. Very patient and so useful to have a hands on approach. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Pamela Macqueen, attended Nov 2025: Beginners Crochet: Kate was fab, really patient and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to practicing.
  • 5/5 from Teresa Campbell, attended Nov 2025: Relaxed, well paced class with Kate. Didn't feel under pressure and she managed quite a variety of skill levels while making us all feel we were achieving! Good fun and flew by. Would've been up for longer workshop!
  • 5/5 from Feng Qu, attended Sep 2025: I’m very happy with the class. Kate was very friendly and patient. I was a bit nervous as I had no idea how crochet works at all. Kate explained every step very well, we practiced it together, and in the end I managed to learn the basic techniques in crochet and build up some confidence. Definitely recommend it.

  • 5/5 from Teresa Tidbury, attended Mar 2025: This was a family event mum, three daughters and son, they are all grown up now.the teachers were very helpful and patient, my daughter has come home and is now crocheting a scarf, I think we will all try and continue to crochet

  • 5/5 from Judith Stephens, attended Dec 2024: Excellent class our teacher was Kate - very patient and knowledgeable. Helped me to refresh my knowledge.
  • 5/5 from Kathryn Roberts-Lock, attended Nov 2024: Lovely, friendly staff. The tutor moved at our pace so no one was left behind. We learnt how to do a slip knot, make an initial chain, double crochet, treble crochet and how to end. I was impressed that the tutor also had other colleagues she could call on if further help was needed (for instance if someone was left handed rather than right handed). I had fun and really enjoyed it.
  • 5/5 from Hannah Thomas, attended Sep 2024: Hannah, my 11 year old had a fantastic time learning crochet. Kate was excellent, many thanks, looking forward to some more :)
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Sep 2024: I did a crochet workshop which was very enjoyable. Kate, our teacher was excellent. Her instructions were clear, she was supportive and encouraging. She had a wide age range from children to adults and treated us all the same without being patronising. Excellent material - wool and crochet hook provided along with written instructions, all in a canvas bag. Very good value for money.
  • 5/5 from Josie, attended Aug 2024: My daughter (age 10) and I did a beginners Crochet workshop with Kate, who was brilliant in showing us how to create the initial loop and subsequent chain. While we felt like we were unscrambling spaghetti, soon enough we both were on a roll wrapping the wool and pulling it through. We have produced a scarf for a hamster (a chain) & a rectangular shape of double & triple stitches. We are very pleased with ourselves! Daughter says “it was easy to understand the instructions” (both spoken & via Kate’s own crochet demo).
  • 4/5 from Ellie House, attended Aug 2024: The class its self was informative and a nice small group. Didn't need to come with anything as its all provided! However, as a left handed person, it was differently harder as the teacher wasnt sure how to teach left handed. Despite this other fantastic staff (Matt & Mia) really helped me despite not being a lefty themselves! Overall, great class :)

Class was excellent value for money. Got me started on a new skill. Materials provided were very good. As I was the only person in my group I was lucky to have one to one tuition.
  • 5/5 from Eryl Simpson, attended Mar 2024: We had a really great time at our class. Mia was really lovely, she explained things well and was very encouraging. We came away with a lovely goodie bag and with a really good start in learning to crochet. We think it was really good value for money, 1.5 hr private session and some good quality materials to take home with us. We would thoroughly recommend the class. Mia was our favourite part of the session, very friendly and welcoming!

  • 5/5 from Claudia Deventer, attended Aug 2023: Kate was a super workshop teacher! We booked a beginners crochet workshop for 1.5 hours, and ended up being a group of three which was great for learning and having Kate able to help us so intently! My daughter who is only 8 years old got the just of it very quickly and was crocheting like a pro within the hour! I specifically booked the workshop for her and I because I love a little bit of homecrafting but (and this is a BIG BUT), I have no patience to teach my poor daughter! So it was a treat to do something together and for me to brush up on my skills! Thank you to Kate, who was equally wonderful and patient! And for teaching us the art of crochet in a lovely calming environment I’ve attached a piece of my daughters (8 year old) work - that is after only 1.5 hours with Kate! She crocheted it in the two days after the workshop Very Proud indeed!

  • 5/5 from Vivien Pearce-Higgins, attended Oct 2022: Kate was great, very patient and was prepared to go through steps several times as needed. Workshop boxes had not arrived, but the staff in store had prepared bags with the materials that were needed - the bags themselves will be very handy. Workshop area was a little bit cramped, as we had a full class of 5. Learnt how to crochet in rows, without increase or decrease, which is what I wanted. Good value and very friendly staff (including those not involved in the workshop):
