  • 5/5 from Steph Robson, attended Nov 2024: We joined a Sustainable Christmas Decoration Workshop with Marianne in the beautiful Calthorpe Community Garden space which was lovely, bright and warm to be in, even in winter! I had a lot of fun, Marianne was a great teacher both in terms of showing us the crafting techniques (good hints and tips!) as well as explaining about sustainable options for crafting etc. She's a lovely, warm, welcoming teacher - the session flew by and I actually felt really relaxed by the end, as well as having some beautiful sustainable Christmas decorations to take home with me!
  • 5/5 from Lauren McPhee, attended Nov 2024: Wonderful class! So creative, with very clear direction and room to play. Making the crafts was so rewarding. I would give them as gifts but I feel gifting the class would be even better!
  • 5/5 from Claudia, attended Nov 2024: We made a bauble and disc decoration with pressed flowers, seed paper Christmas cards and a very cute gnome. All decorations are already on my tree! It was very enjoyable and relaxing and Marianne did an amazing job at talking us through all the steps! Highly recommend :)
  • 5/5 from Richard Wong, attended Nov 2024: What a very relaxed enjoyable afternoon with Marianne. A great teacher and a lovely space to do it in. We learnt a lot about sustainable crafting using biodegradable materials and they're the decorations are all proudly hanging on our tree now.
  • 5/5 from Steve Donaghy, attended Nov 2024: Thoroughly enjoyed making sustainable Christmas decorations. The flat ceramic and gronk will be new and surprisingly cool additions to the Xmas tree (the bauble and seed cards also a great idea). Lovely way to spend a couple of hours, fun had by all. Thoroughly recommend

Some Good Things began as a simple blog—a personal space to document my journey toward living a little more sustainably. My goal was never to completely overhaul my life, but to make small, meaningful changes that felt realistic and achievable. Over time, that idea grew into something bigger.
Now, Some Good Things offers affordable, sustainable craft workshops designed to inspire creativity, encourage getting stuck in, and support mental well-being—all while keeping eco-conscious values at the core.
With a background in event planning (and a fair bit of teaching experience), I aim to create welcoming, accessible spaces where people can try new things, learn useful skills, and feel good about making more thoughtful choices. I believe sustainability doesn’t have to be expensive or overwhelming—it can be joyful, creative, and a little bit fun.
Let’s make some good things together.
